I appreciate that. :) I grew up right alongside my dad too. Lost him when I was 21 years old to a car wreck, but I have so many fond memories from being his helpmate that I'm glad to recall them and try to give the same to my boys. :)

I am so touched by your treatment and care of the kittens and mama. I am not a cat person but now I have 6 because people walk off and leave them. All vetted and cared for. Don't forget to insulate your doors, and you can put sheets of bubble wrap ( over a soapy glass) on the window which will still allow light to come in, and easy to pull off if necessary.
I sprayed the window from the inside flat black. It keeps the heat and sunlight out but still adds another emergency exit if needed . it's working great .

That's a great idea! Plus the paint is easy to scrape off with a razor blade if we ever change our minds!

SHELVING SUGGESTION FOR THE PANTRY PART OF THE SHED: If you purchase shelving on wheels, you can butt them right up to the other shelving, then roll them away to access the items on the wall shelf.

Elijah is a champ! Not afraid of anything even when "its scary" he soldiers onward! Sooo great he did the lofts, I just can't see you getting up there, lol. (whose shoulder would you climb on?) I am amazed how tall he has grown! When he smiles looking up at you he looks JUST like Angela!
Rather than cover window, move all food to one side and hang a rod entire width. Hang a black out curtain that covers food side. You can slide curtain out of the way to the other side to access food.
Regarding that window you want to block off, I would put a shutter on it. Then you will have it closed for now but with the option of having it open later if you decide to do so. I loved that high five you and Isaac did when he came down from the loft the first time. Father and son being best buds, awesome!

Watching your son help I couldn't help but think how important to get them involved. Mostly though, Many hands make for light work.
maybe you could make a (interior) shutter frame and put blackout/insulated fabric on it? If it were a hinged shutter you could open it for light as needed. I like to keep the light from a window as an option, especially in situations when the "power" is iffy. Our old home, in the pre-electricity days, had a window in every room. I still appreciate that during the day I never have to turn on a light as I move around the house.

I put R19 in mind in 2004 It was a little harder to put the drywall up, but it's amazing how it stays warm for days. Now when I did my kitchen in 2016, I put R13, but I bought the kind that's wrapped in plastic, so you don't have to worry about the fiberglass itch. Good Job my friend, now off to the Juice Box to see what we have over there.

We are in the process of developing raw land into our homestead, and one of the next things we're considering is a storage building, probably with multiple functions that may change as we go along.
