How to Check your Check Engine Code Without a Scanner for FREE - Jeep Wrangler

  • I'll show you how to check your check engine code without a scanner.
    First make sure the engine is off. Then insert the key in the ignition and turn it on-off 3 times and on the last turn leave it on the "on" position. This will show you the stored code on the dash display.

    Very nice! I did have to start my 2017 JK & then go to off to get it to initialize the (3) key/ignition-turn diagnostic. Worked like a champ, greatly appreciated!

    Worked on my 07 jku, I got the code and then went back to look again and double check the next day and it came up but it was too quick and I missed it and now it just shows up all dashes

      Have you tried taking the push button out and the key out of the fob to attempt with the physical key?

      Just record the dash when you check for the code, and then you won't miss it.

    lol...sorry...but I cant believe ppl didnt know that....its been available ever since obd came out. My 1995 Jeep does it except a little different since its not digital readings. I bought my Jeep in 2000 and found out almost immediately ....Ive known for 23 years.
