This is precisely why I didn't want Xavi to stay. In the PSG loss at home, Araujo made a stupid decision to foul Barcola who isn't known for his shooting when we were 2 goals up, we still had the lead but then cancelo fouled Dembele in the penalty box when he wasn't even running towards goal, Lewa didn't pass to Yamal for an open shot before the red card and then when we were losing he didn't pass to felix or torres for open shots. Instead of holding our players accountable for their stupid decision-making, Xavi came out and blamed the referee. This was the moment it truly hit me that Xavi is not the coach for us. But some of yall want him to stay, right? Well, better get ready cause next season will be the exact same. Same sh*t different season.
I was so excited when Xavi said he was leaving, and Flick declared his interest for the Barca head coach job. I believed this would have been a more honorable exit for Xavi. A Barca fan’s genuine thoughts (it’s a bit long but please do give it a read)👇
After our latest defeat (against Girona 4-2), I don’t know where this club is going. This is our third season in the last 5 years where we have went trophyless. Yes, 3 times in 5 years. It is almost a decade since we last won the Champions League. It has been more than 5 years since we genuinely competed for the CL (2018-19 was the last season imo when we genuinely competed for the CL), we have won just 1 league title in the last 5 years and I have not even mentioned all the humiliations and heartbreaks till now that we have suffered in the last 4-5 years.
By losing to Girona, we have most probably given up the second spot in the La Liga table due to which we will not be qualifying for the Supercopa de Espanya of next year and there already goes a chance to win a trophy next season irrespective of how insignificant it is. We have also not qualified for the Club World Cup happening in 2025 which in itself is a big shame for us and it also reduces our income from such competitions which was very important for us given our financial situation.
As a fan, I have reached a point where I don’t care about any players/managers/presidents etc. I just want my club to do well. I don’t care who we sell or who we buy. I don’t care who the manager is. I don’t have an emotional connect with any of these players now and I don’t think any body can blame me for that. Be it young players or old, be it experienced players or inexperienced, all of our players are underperforming and are just playing for themselves instead for the club.
Even against Girona, the time between us scoring our 2nd goal and Girona equalising by capitalising on Sergi Roberto’s mistake, there were easily 4-5 good chances for our players to put the game to bed had they been a little bit less selfish and thought of a better option. Everybody just wants to score a goal for themselves rather than choosing the right option. Our decision making in the final third and our players being so selfish is the reason why we lost so many matches this season. And this trait of selfishness from the players clearly shows us that none of these players actually care for the club or about winning, all they care about is their limelight and their name on the scoresheet and this does not happen at any other big club. You will never see players being selfish in an important situation in clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern etc and that’s what separates us from all these clubs for the last 4-5 years and will continue to do so at least for the next 6-7 years if the situation continues like this.
This may sound a bit pessimistic but I don’t have any hope for the near future. I don’t think we will be able to compete consistently at least for the next 6-7 years. Consistency is the key word here. Yes, we may win a league title here and there like we won last year, we may even play a CL Final if we get a draw that favours us (like this year) and we may even win a CL by pure luck or something but that won’t help us in regaining our lost pride.
We need to compete consistently. Like clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool (under Klopp) etc have been doing. These clubs compete every season irrespective of the situation they are in, irrespective of the players they buy or sell, irrespective of their injuries, these clubs compete. Yes, they might win or not win trophies but they are always there in terms of competing every freaking season. Just like what Barca was 4-5 years back, there were seasons where we were underwhelming and not won many trophies but we were always there, always competing, always being one of the favourites for the CL every freaking season.
I want that consistency back from my club even if we don’t win trophies because if we are consistent enough, the trophies will eventually follow. I want to have that feeling back that we can defeat any team in the world without thinking twice and not just hoping for the easier draws.
For this reason, I don’t see Barca competing consistently at least for the next 6-7 years and that’s me just hoping that everything will be okay after 6-7 years but that is also a very big if.
People say that signing this player or selling this player will solve our situation, but I genuinely don’t think so. I think that we have reached a point where our whole club’s culture is rotten. The atmosphere is toxic and there is no winning culture currently. The players are being used to losing again and again, getting humiliated again and again as if everything is okay. It does not affect them like it should. They are OKAY LOSING. That is the fucking problem. The culture, mentality, atmosphere etc.
For this reason, I don’t think that signing new players will solve anything drastically, yes we may improve but again we will not be able to compete consistently. Until this culture changes from top to bottom, a winning mentality is installed in these players, managers, coaching staff and Board members, I don’t see our situation getting better tbh. And this change in culture, mentality will not happen overnight, it will take time and that’s why I said that I don’t see Barca competing consistently for the next 6-7 years at least and that is also me just hoping.
Whether we want to accept it or not, but if this situation continues and we keep getting humiliated at the big stages for the next 3-4 years, our club’s name will be included with the likes of AC Milan and Manchester United as fallen giants and we won’t have anything to counter those statements as they will be facts by that time if it continues like this for the next 3-4 years.
And if that happens, we will eventually become irrelevant in a few more years time and nobody will even talk about Barca and today’s and future generations won’t even care for Barca and that will be our reality.
I genuinely hope that I am proven wrong and Barca starts competing again from the next season only, but they have not shown me signs of doing that or have not given me enough as a fan to count on them.

We have seen Xavi enough to know the type of coach he is. A good coach has a philosophy that shows itself in its style of play (identity). The team may not be winning, but you can see a pattern over time that is leading to somewhere. A good coach has a starting lineup (it will change but not by much). A good coach is not afraid to cut players or bench them when they are not performing. A good coach gives no excuses (buck stops with them). A good coach makes a team with average players good (like Girona). I am one of the biggest Xavi fan, but he is none of those things. This Barca team is one of the most boring teams to watch. I will always love them, but I am resigned to where we are until Xavi leaves.
We played well after xavi announced he's leaving and now we've played similarly yesterday as we did in the 1st half of the season after he announced he's staying 🤔

I have officially disconnected with the delusion I had by thinking I was supporting Barcelona post Messi. This is not barcelona. When we had pedri, gavi, frenkie, busquets last year we destroyed madrid in the supercup. Alonso on the other hand, without taking merit away from his excellent work, has had wirtx available all season and works in an infinitely more easy club pressure-wise

If you listen to his entire words, he talks about how Barca slipped the game in the two games against Madrid and Girona, he spoke about the mistakes that lead to conceding of goals, and the lack of effectiveness. What he is clearly trying to say is Barca could have won the two games against Girona and Madrid if we were effective, and it's not like Barca were incompetent. Xavi needs to learn how to take criticism and correct mistakes. When the media was questioning him after a poor run of results, he announced his departure to avoid all sorts of criticism. I'm a Real Madrid supporter, and I'm tired of listening to Xavi. Such a great player, but man does he complain about everything else than what's important. He seems to be more interested in finding excuses than improving his team. That kind of mindset will only be adapted by the players, the rest of the staff etc. Barcelona have the chance to get back where they belong, but the methods they are using are only hurting the future of the club, and at best minimize the consequences happening in real time.
As a Madrid fan I can't say I'm sad about the current situation Barcelona find themselves in, especially since it's their own fault, but I hope that in due time you will come back again, cause Real Madrid needs Barcelona as much as Barcelona needs Real Madrid, and you guys struggling to get Champions League isn't good for spanish football in itself, and that hurts my team aswell. I'm pretty sure Xavi can do ok in the next season, but things have to change at Barcelona if they want to get back where they were 8-10 years ago.
