There are a ton of phans into metal, the big Phish group I'm a part of on Facebook we used to have tons of discussions about metal, you'd be surprised! And I can damn well promise you will never catch me standing around staring at people at a Phish show, you can find me boogying down from the first note to the last!

+Jeffrey Eliot if you truly like the dead, you are wrong to rag on phish, because although a different style, they are masters of the jam, just like the dead are. anyone who knows jam bands and regards the dead as the all time godfather of jam bands should certainly recognize that phish is something special. when Jerry died I was completely lost musically, and thought no music would get me off like that again. but phish got me rocking again and have done a stellar job carrying the torch. I now hold them on equal footing with the dead. I know a lot of people would disagree with that, but that is how I feel. all that said...even if they don't do it for you, you should still respect that level of musicianship.
