    I wish this video had been available earlier, as I attempted to work on my Kia EV6's hood for the first time, and it has a very similar shape. I ended up leaving many fingerprints on the edge of the hood near the fender which was a nightmare! Your technique is phenomenal.

    Great video. I relief cut the back edge by the windshield, this helps a lot. I also do a gel water soap alcohol solution for these and all hoods. I have not had good luck with a straight slip solution on these. The bumper I do a altered pattern to get rid of some of the pieces. Harder install but less seams. Much easer hood if you have two people, fortunately like you most of the Supras I have had to do myself😂.
    Again thanks for all your videos,

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Před 8 měsíci +1

      What gel do you use and what is your ratios for the gel soap water solution? I bought some gel but haven't really put it to the test yet.
      I appreciate the tips. They are always helpful! Trimming that back the edge at the windshield is one of the things I do a lot as well. I screwed up this install by not keeping the material back far enough. I've had pretty bad tacking issues on the Porsche Macan as well. This bumper is a rough one! LOL I will be editing the pattern next go around because of all the pieces. That a good observation.

      Xpel gel with Xpel ultimate plus. I mix 325 Oz at a time. For hoods I usually do 175 Oz Ro water 150 Oz Gel 40 mil of 7th Generation soap and 11/2-2 Oz isopropyl. I love the 7th gen. So much easier to flush out!
      I have to admit, the last Supra I did i relief cut the back of the hood to close, hen I stretched the front there was not enough on the back.I will not make that mistake again😳

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Před 11 měsíci

      It's definitely not an easy hood, but with the correct stretch, it goes pretty smoothly. Under stretch it, and it'll be pretty rough.
      I need to start adding close-up footage of the finished job at the end of the videos. I've been thinking about that. This was recorded quite a few months back, though. I just uploaded a very short walk around of the Supra once it was done. The footage isn't the greatest for real closeups (I tried slowing it down a bit), but it's prob better than nothing. 👍🏻 czcams.com/video/8JiQChCUMPA/video.html

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Před 7 měsíci +1

      This is SunTek Ultra Tack. It's way to tacky for these more difficult hoods that have so much stretch. That stretch puts extra tension on the film and those spots start to pre tack too fast. What film did you use during your install? How did it come out?

      Welcome to the channel!
      I'm very new to gel. I'm still in the testing phases. I do use a ppf with very aggressive adhisive and minimal soap in my slip solution. We just ordered a couple of rolls of PPF with a less aggressive adhisive. I'm looking forward to that on hoods. Especially more difficult hoods that need more working time where pretacking is a pretty big issue.

      @@EncorePPFtint Here in Brazil we use XPEL and STEK. Typically the standard mix in a 35 oz spray is 30 oz of gel and a single pump of baby shampoo and we mix that.
