If you hold the extra javelins in your left hand with the heads facing to the ground you can grab and throw them quicker and save yourself a movement. Lift your right foot only slightly and slide it forward while you torque and twist your right hip from back to front in concert with the throwing arm. Stomp your right foot upon release. Turn your body into the gun, the javelins are the bullets. 🧐🤓
heads forged by albertan blacksmith Waterfieldforge.com unlike bows of the dark age, javelins can be used as effective melee weapons and can even be used against cavalry in a melee
ooh i love javelins! they are so underrepresented here on CZcams ! can you do some chrono tests with it? i'm very innterested in how many joules and momentum these darts have.
People often times talk about how people were smaller then and how nutrition wasn’t near the quality it is now claiming people were weaker historically. While this is probably true in terms of top level athletic sports or pure strength sports like strongman or powerlifting I don’t think this is true when speaking about the common warrior particularly in warrior societies like those of the Vikings. Surely strength would have been encouraged and viewed as noble in societies that were exposed and even encouraged to participate in frequent warfare. Think of modern people and how the vast majority of at least the western world people work jobs in the office with little to no physical labor in their daily life. I’d imagine most people particularly those who were of a warrior class were significantly stronger than the average person today.
By the looks of those sockets the javelin could use a thinner shaft. I bet it would go farther but break on impact more often. I guess it’s a trade off of authenticity for durability. How far did you throw it ? It’s hard to judge distance on film? Vikings often carry three of those in one hand so I imagine they are quite thin in old times. 👍👍
They should be longer and heavier and you should take a few steps and throw at a high angle. Those are historically accurate so they're shorter and lighter than they should be for a person your size. Great throwing btw very accurate
I forgot what javelin was, but they’re adding a javelin spell to this game I like I have no idea how this move would work to make it worth being a separate skill
Those javelins are designed to lodge into shields to make them unwieldy enough to have to discard. (Your unarming the opponent rather than trying to disable them)
You weren’t throwing them right that’s why they didn’t fly true with force. Used to throw at high school. Watch Olympic thrones on CZcams. Your left hand needs to be free to balance and guide your body angles at target as your right arm and shoulder propel the javelin. You also need to run to build momentum before delivery. It’s a lot of fun. But done attempt to throw a javelin whilst holding some in your left hand as well won’t work well
The ultimate gear to give your prey all the chances while hunting. If you'd be able to slay a deer or boar with this, that'd be highest regarded hunt for me. Don't care what you hunt, if you'd doit with these Succesfully and humanely you'd be the most respected for me.
The more I see spear throwing videos the more useless it feels. It takes a lot of skill it throw it point first. You can't use full power like throwing a rock because then the orientation is flawed. It doesn't even go that far. Lastly I highly doubt the penetration. Could you explore how much power it has? Like can it even pierce padded armour? Edit: throwing spear is feeling useless to me, not spearfighting
Throw it from the horseback......like a medieval movie scene
working on it!

You are clearly loving southern Alberta .
Lol
Thats bad ass i hope you get good at this I was always interested in this type of fighting and hunting but so few people are practicing it
lmao, i love the enthusiasm. Plant/ground/balance yourself more as you throw.

Are they sold as a group or single? How much would they be? I am looking to get a throwing javelin for me and complete/fully assembled.

What’s a Mongolian horse 🐎 archer doing with Viking javelins…… 😮 very suspicious
they used javelins too but rare
@@HistoricalWeapons why use a Thrown javelin when you can launch smaller ones 10x further with a handy dandy 175lb tartar bow lol
@@ryanjones3043 because he wants to try something different

Not really suspicious when you realize the Rus had contact with mongols
these are obviously asking for a bigger bow :)
Makes me wonder how physically strong they were in midevil times

Wow that’s expensive compared to a proper sized stick from the woods but it looks like someone beat you to all the trees in that area 😉
