    Congrats on the 100!! Took me forever!! Im almost to 150 now but its still slow. Idk... i think all things equal the 272 will beat the 576 in smaller wood maybe but in a 20 or 24in log w the bar buried the 576 will shine. Same chain same bar same cut will be really interesting!! Stay safe and be kind!!

    Greatly appreciate the work you do Tinman ! I personally have time on two 576xp’s . One i bought new and it has been flawless since 2013 when purchased . The second i bought from a shady alley . The two heads are less than 10 serial #’s apart actually . The shady 576 has not been a good saw , but its something to tinker on

    Just wanted to say thank you so much for making these videos. You and afleetcommand helped me to choose the 576xpat, it’s perfect for what I do! (On the E coast, mostly doing hardwood and some milling.) A consistent reaction in comparison vids with this saw is the same as yours, the 576 is so smooth that it seems the other saw took it... until they’re timed. ;-). In softer or smaller wood, with higher rpm saws, its close. But in bigger hard stuff, the torque makes this saw shine, smoothly. Also for warranty, on Huskys Website max bar recommendation is 32, you’d need to go up to a 395 to match it, and still stay within warranty if that’s a concern for you. So thanks again!!!

    Old muscle cars seem faster than they are sometimes. It's the noise, the secondaries opening up, the rattles and squeaks.
    I think the new saws are designed to run lean for emissions.

    Here we are mid October 2020, 5 months later and now you have 1.76k subscribers. You’re doing something right. I wanted to share a story on what I felt was a huge score. I found a ms460 being sold and the add read it had engine problems, I figured it was seized or no compression. When I picked it up it started and ran. the previous owner said that it wouldn’t run for more than a couple minutes. I took it home and pulled the muffler, found some moderate scoring. I checked the fuel and it was straight gas. So I mixed up some 32:1 and put it into a 30” oak log after I sharpened the chain and dressed the badly beaten bar. This thing runs strong, it’ll give my new 462 a run! So my question to you is, with proper care, how long do you think this thing will run with this damage and when I do put a cylinder in it what else should I look for when I get it apart?

    • @tinmanssaws
      @tinmanssaws  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey larry, as long as you keep an eye on the piston and it doesn't get worse that saw could last for a long time like that.
      It may have an air leak but the scoring could be caused by many things.
      I'd do crank seals, fuel line , impulse line and a carb kit if it was my saw.

  • @snoman1969
    @snoman1969 Před rokem

    I have a 576xp. What's it take to muffler mod them? I heard it's a pain. If you accomplish this do you need to remove the carb limiters for more fuel? I would like to mod the muffler or go with a pipe to reduce heat build up.
