- Joe Dever's Lone Wolf Choose Your Own Adventure book series was first published in the early 1980's when I was a young teen and a fan myself, having owned about 6 of the original books in paperback format. About a week prior to recording this video, I discovered that the series was recently reprinted with additional content. So, being the kid-at-heart that I still am in my 50's, I just had to buy the first book and share it with you, whether you are new to the series, or have played them before, perhaps even back in the 80's like me.

44:29 If you wrote a choose your own adventure book for Arkham Sanitarium I would cop in an instant
I actually second this. This would be amazing. Would buy 1,287,569,348 copies for everyone at the sanitarium.
I'd definitely buy this
He already has. It's amazing! You are from Universe 684279.2(A) in the Floof system aren't you? It's the most popular form of entertainment here.
I think that’s an excellent idea, I think he’d do great
I’ve read a few of those choose your own adventure books when I was a kid, I thought they were really cool because you could read it several times and see something different. Just the idea was mind blowing for someone so young
I loved reading these books when I was a kid. Recently, I was explaining the concept of a choose your own adventure book to my teenage daughter. Thanks for sharing this!
Just so happened to get back into CYOA gamebooks a week or two ago after decades and now you do this! Just awesome. Funny how these things happen.
Omg I loved reading the choose your own adventure books as a kid, gonna get back into them when I can.
So happy that the Lone Wolf series has made a resurgence. I used to read them as a kid in the 80s, the original writer sadly died a few years ago but the son took up the mantle and started creating new books in the series I believe.
i have to say, this mans vioce is soooo smoothing and nice, i want to thank you kind sir for keeping me relaxed and calm while i do my school work!!!! Thank you so very much!
Same
Goosebumps had some good books like this when I was a kid
I loved those books! Reader beware, you choose the scare!
I loved this series as a kid. The Kai are like Jedi Knights in a gritty D&D setting.
Ooo never thought of it like that, good way of putting it!!
I just got blasted with memories as soon as I saw this, i had a 6th grade teacher who's class I would occasionally be in for some kind of class swap homeroom time where we'd do fun projects and stuff and his was that we all had character sheets for a group class character and would vote for all of the decisions, crazy nostalgic, thanks for unlocking this memory ER
Reminds me of ER's old dungeons and dragons videos. Love it!
By the way, ER have you ever heard of a game called Slay the Spire? I think you would like it and it could make a cool ASMR video!
I'll always love good Slay the Spire content. Seeing ER play would be awesome
SLAY THE SPIRE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES!!!!!
I wish he finished the famous "third video" in that dnd series he did. The putting together or playing an adventure part.
True and sts has Lovecraft themes in some of the events
Thanks for introducing me to this! I ended up buying the first 6 books.
You should make a playthrough of these books😊
Agreed! You could even do it from the point of view different characters of the ERU and make the choices based on their personalities!
@@Kavoneerb like have the whole of arkham sanatarium make their own characters and it be a different patient for each book
A community playthrough in youtube shorts and polls for choices?
I remember that when I was 13 or so and I got my first phone I installed an app that recreated a choose your own adventure book. I lose that phone ages ago and I've sometimes wandered what book was it based on, and I'm pretty sure it was one on this series, I loved the (digital) book, maybe I'll get it again
Great vid, love the videos of the book collections
I read all of those adventure typed-books in the early 90's that were available in my (small) hometown in Finland. Oh the nostalgy, i had completely forgotten those. Thank you.
Welp just bought my hardcover copy of this book today on Amazon because of this vid. Excited for it to arrive 😎
oh!! this looks so fun, I remember going insane for these as a kid.... might have to check it out again :0
Huh, this is definitely more involved than the adventure books i was used to as a kid. It's making me want to pick these up. Thanks Rift.
Thank you for this. As the genra cyoa popularized and internet grew, so much content I find to be superficial (copycat/trend) that I couldn't find old masterpiece since I didn't rememberred the title.
Not only you provided me a video but also the title of lone wolf wich was one of my favorite. Thanks a lot.
Never came across such a book. Very interesting
Soooo good!! Thank you so much. Ur so damn creative! I love it. I'm gonna fall asleep to the rest of the video now.
I read the first one, I'm pogging by simply the fact that I have this very book (different edition tho), in my room, a few meters from me.
I love Choose your adventure books 😍 Wow, I'm old 😂
Damn, was kinda hoping for a play through of the book but great vieoe
Just finished and it is a good book
I just started collecting thease books a few years ago and they are so cool. I want to try and have a big collection of them.
I read about 20 Lone Wolf gamebooks back in the 80's and very early 90's. I want these new editions in the worst way.
I too used to live these books growing up. Now I play D&D 😌
I love this series of books! Was randomly gifted them by a friend of my father's when I was around 10. Book 5, Shadows on the Sand, was my favorite! Managed to collect the original series of the hardcover reprints. Would love to get my hands on the Magna-Kai series.
I'd love a series where you read a novel 1 chapter per video. You could make a great series out of that!
17:51 Luisville kentucky mentioned project zomboid fans assemblee!!!
HELL YES! You gotta pick up OSRIC and read that too!
I remember reading the 1988, Return to Atlantis choose your own adventure book, of course I’m not that old, but I started reading these when they got more popular where I lived during mid 2010’s.
Uncle E, I just had a really bad interaction. Seeing my sexual abuser outside of court while walking home from school. My parents refused to tell me he was going to be there. Thank you for posting. I needed this
Im really sorry that these things happened to you. i hope you find comfort and happiness very soon, you deserve good things:)
Whats Up Uncle E Love The VODS cant wait to learn some "lone wolf" Lore
Cool
So long Joe Dever
I'm not familiar with Lone Wolf (it's hard to get a copy in my country) though I have heard of it. However I am familiar with Fighting Fantasy and other solo-RPG books. Thanks for the video, if they are republishing I might be able to get one.
Choose your own adventure is pretty much an RPG in boom form lol
Fantastical ahh intro.
That shit was Grand
Wow! I allways knew corvus was damn fine but the guy underneath the costume is even hotter!
Oh I heard of one of those books my 3rd grade teacher read us it to the class we got to choose the path
I've had the app for years, through multiple phones, this is the best CYOA series, also because your character progresses through the books instead of just oneshots. Another great series is Fire*Wolf, but sadly it only has 4 books.
I’d love to see you actually read one of these and make your own decisions, it would be very cool
id get on my KNEES for an adventure book of the arkham sanitarium holy shit
i always wanted one of these types of books as a kid but i could never find one
My dad told me when he was a kid he'd read zork, which choose your own.
Random suggestion: Could you maybe do a *Dune* inspired ASMR video similar to the Gandalf one? I watched the new movie and it was so good
There is a game on steam that is a digital version of another choose your own adventure series called "sorcery" I would love to see you do a playthrough
I created a n adventure story like this as an Android app about 8 years ago or so. It started out as a simple short story but then I adapted it into a branching multiple fate kind of thing like this. In my marketing I actually called it a "choose your own adventure" and the publishers of the original CYOA from the 80's, like the book you have here, contacted me and said I couldn't use that phrase. Apparently it's copyrighted? Well, I assume "decide your adventure" or some variation would be ok.
Reminds me of the old goosebumps books, R.L. Stine had some choose your ending style of books…..Reader beware you choose the scare…
I got them in school from scholastic books.
ER have you heard of Sorcery? Its a game on steam and based off what you said about this book, I think you’d really like it.
You should do a brother Nathanael kapner roleplay, you have the looks for it 😊
Aw man, I was hoping we’d actually get to get into it at least a little bit
funnily enough a twitch streamer I watch covered this very book over a few streams.
I dont know, a kick starter to back a project like arkam asylum choose your own adventure book might work
Do you, per chance, work at a toll booth in Delaware because I think I just saw you
haha no must be The Toll Booth Man
Hey ER i eant to recommend a good book translated its called the hour of demons idk if its translated to englis butits damn great
🔵[LIVE] welcome to the ethereal podcast..today we will be discussing the coming eclipse in april.please comment, like, and subscribe.
Whose thinking of the old goose bump books
I hate to do this, but as someone who lives on the Indiana-Kentucky line and has heard every pronunciation of the city name, I must say that is SO not how you say Louisville.
But to be fair, that is a completely permissible way to assume it's meant to be said.
Also I'm so glad you were able to get ASMR from reading that intro! Desensitization is really sad, especially with as enchanting a feeling as ASMR often is. It's great to find little things that are able to do that for you.
Please do an Arkham Adventure
y didn’t you except my answers ?

WTH is this? A "normal" ASMR video? I'm scared. Uncle E are you ok?
Use the likes on this comment as a show of hands; who else was hooked by the time Uncle E got to "Good Now," like I was?

I recall that every time I read one if these books, I never actually did as the book said, and would just read the book as one would normally read any other book, in attempt to see what order everything as arranged in it. Of course, I would then read it as it was intended to be read, because I didn't actually remember what I'd read when seeing the order of events in the book.
I had the kindle version of this series which introduced some actual game elements
Hey ER, this is random but have you ever played Enderal? It's a game made using skyrim's engine and I recently discovered it and it is so good, it's for free on steam. It's sort of like a modpack for skyrim, but it turns it into another game, another world, another story, and it's really well built. Plus it's really easy to install it
