El Jefe did a comprehensive real life review. TLDR: 5 hours battery life with LDAC, 9 hours with AAC. Great noise cancelling, only **good** microphone for calls, bass heavy, average mids, good treble all of which you can correct with EQ.

I picked them up yesterday and honestly can say they are night and day in sound quality over my airpod pros. If you use headphones every day then the price honestly doesn’t seem to bad.
For sure, Apple don't seem to really prioritise sound quality with any Airpods or earpods. I'm really hope this changes with the Airpod Pro 2, or maybe the upcoming Beats earpods - as the current versions are so light, don't create ear pressure and have good ANC. I'm not holding my breath....
got them from 150$ "used, from amazon warehouse" which most of the time means it was dropped in the warehouse and the seal was broken. LOVE the purchase for that price!
Just found your channel and your review is great. I'm a truck driver and trying to figure out the best earbuds for making phone calls without annoying people with background noise.
I have the XM3s. I got them refurbished from Amazon. The only real drawback to them is the battery only lasts 4 hours with ANC on. If the new ones have 8 hour battery life with ANC on, that would be a massive improvement. I'd still wait until I could get them second-hand, though. $280 is more than I can justify for earbuds.
yeah it's just a lot. im not surprised in a few years, "premium level" ones will climb up to 400 as a standard. we already see how phone prices climbed up in the past decade
Good video. I ordered a pair for myself yesterday so I can’t comment on sound just yet but here are my thoughts. The price is about right for these, in fact I thought they would be a bit more. Firstly the main processing chip has been made and developed by Sony. It’s not off the shelf so will therefore have cost them a lot of money to develop. The feature list is very impressive. If you want a lot of features you have to pay for them. Yes I have a pair of $80 earbuds I use at work and they play music but that’s it. The biggest thing for me though is LDAC. I listen to a lot of music at work and I have an A&K Dap. I have around 2,000 hi-res music files. To be able to enjoy them at full res on earbuds is a game changer for me. LDAC uses a huge amount of power and its transmitting over three times the amount of information to each earbud. I honestly didn’t think anyone would be able to achieve this on earbuds without battery dropping to a few hours. Please note that if you listen to normal music files LDAC mode will not achieve much. It’s for hi-res music files that are encoded in 24bit and above. Some streaming services offer this but just in case people are wondering. It’s not going to make your standard AAC or MP3 files sound any better. Features like ANC and so on all sound very impressive as well. Yes your right about the ear tips. I have a pair of AKG N40’s and when I swapped out the silicone ear tips for comply ones they blocked out about 80% of the surrounding sound alone. Haha. One other point I’d like to make. I have friends who all all lust after and buy the expensive Apple offering for more money (because it’s Apple) and then moan that Sony are charging what they are for these. Sony have genuinely pushed the boundary’s on what can be achieved here with earbuds technology and they are very impressive. Its less gimmicks and more about sound with these and that’s what appeals to me. The only thing that would appeal to more music lovers is the inclusion of APTX HD and APTX. this is the more common hi-res Bluetooth streaming format. LDAC is only really on Sony products (as they invented it). That does limit its usage and Sony have probably done this deliberately. There older Bluetooth headphones did APTX HD as well as LDAC and then they dropped it.
I bought these over the weekend. True, they sound GREAT and offer excellent ANC. However, they are unusable for me because of the pain they cause after 15 minutes of being in my ears.
The problem is that companies have raised their price exponentially for sake of brand name only. Apple airpods albeit great to some should not be worth 250. Why? We have companies that give you more for much less. Ecosystems rule the world unfortunately. Great review as usual.
The $300 price point was already hit before Sony in fairness. I actually think these are worth $278 if the AirPods pro are worth $250. But for most people I would still recommend spending less than a hundred. A 30 or $40 pair in 2021 can be all you need.
Depends on what someone wants. I personally wanted really good sound with the convenience of a small form factor, so I bought the XM3's last year (for €160).

Great real world review for the average person. There is always some dude commenting that they sound like garbage compared to their bazillion dollar iem with dac.
Honestly people are elitist the cost of truly high res aduio has dropped quite a bit you only need the blon-03 the best budget since 2019 and it's only 40$ and for a dac you sadly need to spend a bit more 110$ for a fiio btr5 however it's an amp,dac Bluetooth combo taking any iem with you at full quality as long as it's not a super power hungry set but tbh I'd mainly recommend this setup for gamers due to the fact that for the price those headphones sound better for gaming than gaming headsets that cost over 3 times as much but if you just wanna game fuck the dac the point of iems is to have highly sensitive headphones that play well with console controller and phones
Great breakdown, but the lack of Multi-Connect is not Bulls**t. The reason you can't multi-connect is because Sony decided to have each bud connect separately to ensure a quality connection with a low latency. This is using the 2 available channels for bluetooth with takes away from multi-connect. The headphones use 1 channel and connect the two together with a wire inside the band - which is why they can multi-connect. Not bulls**t.
They are only 10% smaller than the last model so still big. I have both in hand, I'm not a fan of the comply ear tips - I feel like it creates too much ear pressure and they are a faff to compress in your fingers everytime before insertion - then you have to push them into your ear canal and hold them as the foam expands. Also they way they sit in your ears means they touch more surface area of skin making them alot more uncomfortable compared to the WF-1000XM3. The 3's hold in my ears mostly with the silicon tip doing the work and the body floats. The noise cancelling is slightly better but I can hear the mics micro adjusting the ANC and it still doesn't silence the outside world, which is the dragon I'm chasing. And I agree, I think the tips are doing half of the work because if I put my old silicon tips on the 4's the ANC is not as good (and they dont hold in my ears). I'm torn if I will keep as the 3's are paid for and good enough (also resale value has tanked). The last model was so good it's now the law of diminishing returns. To be honest, the discomfort I'm facing with the 4's has me leaning towards a return despite the fuller sound. Smart move by Sony to use comply tips as they will wear out quickly and will need to be replaced meaning more revenue. Not a fan.
His review has humour and very intertaining, and also more realistic. The other ones are just plain boring and more like advertising the product rather than giving a review.
I apologise..I was one of those that didn't hit the like or subscribe button till you mentioned it.. But in my defense you were so entertaining I was listening to you.. Ok the like and subscribe are both taken care of..We good now? Lol.. First time viewer btw.. Great review..
Actually almost 2 years apart bought my m3's last year cos I was like Ahh can't wait till August for the next pair. Had to give you a thumbs up just for that "You see that lady walking down the street comment had me in tears 🤣
I thought at first they were worse that the previous version but I now know it all depends on the fit and type of earpud tips. Get the right type for you and they are amazing, otherwise not so good
What's the fuss about the price? Premium products are expensive. Never heard of Westone / shire and other funky niche wired IEMs? If wireless earbuds become as good if not better than full bulky headphones, then why not as expensive? Your not paying for a weight worth of metal. Actually quite the opposite, the smaller, the more complicated... And the more expensive.
I’ve had the Jabra 75t’s for a year now and they are ridiculous. I loved them to death, I bought these because I wanted a better battery life and better ANC, these absolutely delivered. The price point is steep n But I don’t regret it. I took my first plane ride with them today- absolutely 0 plane noise. 9/10 would buy again.
@@nad1ax2 they added ANC after some time - I was saying that the ANC they added was just ok- but the actual quality of music is fantastic was what I was saying.
i have these and i really want to like them because the noise cancelling is just in a league of its own, but it just makes my ears really sore. i think its just a characteristic of foam ear tips because my other earbuds equipped with foam tips make my ears sore as well. switching over to silicone ear tips makes it more comfortable but you sacrifice about 25% of the ANC. Also, although the material looks premium, the case and the buds themselves feel hollow which makes it feel cheap. a bit surprising considering the buds can last 8hours with anc on so id imagine it’d be filled to the brim with components, but i guess not
Hello sir! So so sorry I haven't added anything to the chat recently. Had a massive house fire and we are still struggling to recover. Happy to see you still up and about!
Honestly, they do seem to be worth the $280, unlike the AirPods Pro that don't seem to be worth the $250 price tag; but they are expensive. My concern with these is the longevity of their ear tips. Can you buy more? What would the replacement ear tips cost? For the price I expect them to last for years and years.
If you need base and a soundstage, sonys. If you need to talk on the mic and like flatter, balanced audio, bose. I bought them both the same day and returned the Bose..The Sony soundstage is unmatched. But I'll be honest I havent used the mic yet.
It's NZ $500 from the official NZ Sony Website, and it's pre-ordering for next month. That's NZ$60 more than the special price for the headphones. I think I'll have to wait until Boxing Day.
I saw a flaw in your set up rn, you don't have LDAC actovated, i have a note 20u too, just go on the system settings bluetooth, click the the xm4's setting icon and activate LDAC
16:38 Kudos for putting the "please hit the like button" at the END of the video, as that's when you actually know if you like it or not (as apart to other youtubers starting with "Hey, hit the like button before even watching the video"). So here's the thumbs up from me. (I WAS subscribed already, though.) ^^
100% percent agree with you. These truly open up running LDAC on master tracks. It is a very noticeable difference vs. running AAC Spotify at 320kbps. I pretty much only listen to these on my phone specifically because of the LDAC codec. It is that good! I'm hearing new things in music that I have never picked up on before, little subtleties and "wow" moments constantly. That fact that I'm saying this about wireless earbuds is ridiculous in my opinion. I would have laughed at someone saying this even just a few years ago. Technology had really come a long way. Have not personally heard the Bowers & Wilkins PI7's or the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2's, but these blow the Airpod Pro's and other true wireless earbuds I've heard out of the water.
I was waiting on these earbuds to upgrade from galaxy buds. Then the xm3s halved in price, and then some. 3x cheaper than these? I'll get the xm3's for now, like my headphones (which both in total cost less than these). If the price drops over time to 230 or 200 I will definitely consider these. They seem like the best buds in the game. But losing an earbud and being nearly 300 lighter? Man you can almost buy a television, a smartphone, or an iPad for the price of these buds!
👍👍👍 Awesome review as usual. I totally agree with you about the fact that these do not have multipoint support. That's ridiculous at this price 🤬. I remember you stating in your review that you figured out a way to do that. Is there a way you can let us know? I actually listen to my music either from my iPod touch or my Galaxy 21 plus phone. I do switch back and forth but if I am listening to my music on the iPod Touch- I would like to hear in my earbud if my phone is ringing. I know that some jabra's have this feature. Do you know of any other earbud that are of very good quality that will support multi-point connection? Thanks for your time. Keep up the great work!
Dude! Straight up truth. Every other apologist (I mean reviewer) making excuses for their shortcomings. Great tech and sound means you can forget other basic functions.. Nope. Yeah they're smaller than the XM3... everything is smaller than the XM3's. And I have to choose between ambient /ANC toggle for volume controls? Give up hot swapping for voice control? $300, c'mon Sony.
Now waiting for Apple & Bose to TOP these Sony's. Now all that said Sony should be ashamed for not giving us complete control over everything, are they even listening to us?
Well the Bose Quietcomforts came in September so its a long wait until the next pair as the don't update yearly. Apple should be releasing new Beats earpods with ANC soon then the Airpods Pro 2, possibly before the end of the year or early next. Apple have alot to do to improve sound quality of their earphones.
Honestly, they are an upgrade over the M3 for me; I had the M3 & while they sounded amazing they would always disconnect or stop playing in one ear. The bluetooth connectivity was terrible on my end.
It's a sad time we live in where we are either given tiny incremental upgrades or actually regress in quality in features all while the prices continue to rise exponentially.
I usually don't comment or subscribe. But I really liked your type of review, been looking at every review for these the last couple of days but this one really stood out. Thanks for doing this in your own style Good job and good luck! //Some random dude from Sweden
I’m new to the CZcams review format. The vacuum cleaner “ate” my last set of ear pods. I bought these on a hunch, and have watched many reviews since. I love your review, quick and to the point. Not too nerdalific. I would like to know about the ear tips. There are some expensive memory foam available on Amazon. Those provided, S,M,L, are not a good fit for me. What is your take on aftermarket ear tips? Thumbed up & subscribed :)
I actually think it is the V1 chip. The included tips suck ass for me. No size would worked for me. I ended up using old silicone tips and they worked marvelously and provided a true solid seal. Go figure. I agree about the multipoint but given the other features, I would think adding that would pump up the price to 350/400 territory. I would rather just use my old xm3s on my tablet and these on my phone. Plus, you can add multiple devices on the app and switch on the fly. Yeah, not seamless but pretty darn close.
Girl you lookin' like a WF-1000XM3 -that's one thing I got from this video. Good information on this devices quirks. Hopefully some can be addressed with updates.
These buds should have multi connect and mono summing when using one earbud. I have $20 ear buds that sum in mono so you can't tell me Sony can't do that ... Thanks for your review, you just saved me $300
I get that most people don't think that they should be priced at what they are but come on they're new, the qualitys there, its worth every dollar, i dont think you should reasonably expect raycon prices for a new sony earbuds
You mentioned multi-connect in your video, besides the Jabra 85T, which other earbuds have this feature? I'm asking because the Jabra's are so heavy and the tips are "rubbery" they slide out and I'm looking for some that are really good quality, have multi-connect, and stay in my ears.
Thank you for visually going through all the app's none of the other reviewer I've seen have done it as completely as you did it ~ As far as paying $300 for them I'll wait on that one ~ I mean $300 what could Sony be thinking ~ I'm an American living in Japan currently and will go to the Sony store to check them out ~ Once again thank you for your honest review I have subscribed to your channel ~
I see they 248 now but I'm hopeful they get closer to 200 for black Friday I really do wanna cop em. I have the galaxy buds pro like them but they be falling out and I've tried all the inserts
Well done, sir. I'd be curious if you ever compare these with the new Airpod Pro Generation 2's.... I decided to buy these a few days before those came out. So far I'm very impressed with the choice. I've had a pair of the older AirPods and always thought they were hideous. New ones too. But these Sony's sound good, look good, and feel good.
Thanks for the review. They are great and I think the smart thing to do is wait for sale on them. Any time it's less than 250$ it's going to be legit. Hope you can review the jaybird travia 2 please

when using spotify on my iPhone for example, the WF-1000XM4 are quieter than the WF-1000XM3. I'm almost at full volume to get the sound I want (and I dont want to deafen myself).
I'm running on a Note 20 Ultra and they are way louder than I would ever need. They get painfully loud for me, usually run less than half volume at the gym. That being said, my hearing is ridiculous.

Not a fan.
I need them to block snoring, period
Same! 🤗
get bose sleepbuds...works
His review has humour and very intertaining, and also more realistic.
The other ones are just plain boring and more like advertising the product rather than giving a review.
Watch flossy Carter you will like it too for sure 😉
I apologise..I was one of those that didn't hit the like or subscribe button till you mentioned it.. But in my defense you were so entertaining I was listening to you..
Ok the like and subscribe are both taken care of..We good now? Lol.. First time viewer btw.. Great review..
Lmao! You are forgiven. 🤣👊
I've been watching so many reviews trying to decide which, this is the first one that made me laugh😂
Great review! It's just what I was looking for. Keep up the good work! :)
So true about the multi connect, the jabra 75t have them and they are almost a third of the price!!
Actually almost 2 years apart bought my m3's last year cos I was like Ahh can't wait till August for the next pair. Had to give you a thumbs up just for that "You see that lady walking down the street comment had me in tears 🤣
These should be $50 off on Prime Day
Fingers crossed
I thought at first they were worse that the previous version but I now know it all depends on the fit and type of earpud tips. Get the right type for you and they are amazing, otherwise not so good
Love your humor just got a new subscriber
After a half year they will be reduced to 200 and after a year under 200 Dollar/ Euro . Same happened to the XM 3
But after a year and a half these will be beaten by the new ones coming out. That's how technology works
First review vid I watched the whole way through, really enjoyed it. Subscribed
👊
I’ve had the Jabra 75t’s for a year now and they are ridiculous. I loved them to death, I bought these because I wanted a better battery life and better ANC, these absolutely delivered. The price point is steep n
But I don’t regret it. I took my first plane ride with them today- absolutely 0 plane noise. 9/10 would buy again.
ANC literally does nothing on my 75ts, not sure what you're talking about
@@nad1ax2 they added ANC after some time - I was saying that the ANC they added was just ok- but the actual quality of music is fantastic was what I was saying.
@@nad1ax2 the ANC I was referring to was on the Sonys not the Jabras
Still in love with my galaxy buds live.. sound great. No ear blocking.
i have these and i really want to like them because the noise cancelling is just in a league of its own, but it just makes my ears really sore. i think its just a characteristic of foam ear tips because my other earbuds equipped with foam tips make my ears sore as well. switching over to silicone ear tips makes it more comfortable but you sacrifice about 25% of the ANC. Also, although the material looks premium, the case and the buds themselves feel hollow which makes it feel cheap. a bit surprising considering the buds can last 8hours with anc on so id imagine it’d be filled to the brim with components, but i guess not
Love your ending skit 😬
Your reviews are the best, I got some Jabra 75t Elite Actives, and are a great value!
Great review 👍🏻. Wich one do you prefer to buy soundcore liberty air 2 pro or Sony xm4 and does the ear tip make persure on ear ?
Semper Fi! New subscriber, great review, definitely keep doing your own thing, good stuff!
Best review I have seen, the speak to chat feature is useful during work, love these headphones 🎵
Hello sir! So so sorry I haven't added anything to the chat recently. Had a massive house fire and we are still struggling to recover. Happy to see you still up and about!
As a matter of fact, this is the first video I have watched about these earbuds. :)
Awesome review. Subbed
You didnt enable LDAC ,its crazy wild when you do
I saw a flaw in your set up rn, you don't have LDAC actovated, i have a note 20u too, just go on the system settings bluetooth, click the the xm4's setting icon and activate LDAC
I have spent thousands on earbuds. I enjoy my XM3s and my other 98 pairs of Buds. I will hold off on the XM4 for a while.
Nice to see you doing audio tech reviews, missed your regular headphones / earphones reviews.
SENNHEISER Momentum True Wireless 2 are my favorite ...........
For real do you have them?
The sound is AMAZING.
With LDAC at 900 ...OMG .........Bliss....My ears are rejoicing.
Of course Tidal MQA / Hi Fi is a must.
Man you can almost buy a television, a smartphone, or an iPad for the price of these buds!
this is the first video of the product im watching. i actually saw other videos but i didnt click. keep it up!
I got mine certified reburbished for 134 on ebay but it's also been 11 months since the video came out
I'm cheap, so I sat out for a few months and bought refurb for $180 and got the $20 warranty!!! - But hands down, this earbuds ROCK!!!
Nice!!!
Nice review, bro!
Definitely, after shelling out 300 dollars, we require hot swapping and multi-connect.
@@HecatombRecordings totally agree dude! 👍
Love your reviews, man. You definitely have your own style. 👍
First time seeing your channel, probably my favorite review in a long time. Consider me subscribed.
Very amusing and refreshing overview - keep it up!
That is why I have to stick with Boise, the multiconnect.
👊
Best video yet I’ve watched on the Sony’s. Great job! I too subscribed.
1:22 Bowers & Wilkins are high end products, bro! Yeah, just for pair of earbuds.
But they're still earbuds
I usually don't comment or subscribe.
But I really liked your type of review, been looking at every review for these the last couple of days but this one really stood out.
Thanks for doing this in your own style
Good job and good luck!
//Some random dude from Sweden
You have an Android phone. You need to turn on LDAC for these.
Girl you lookin' like a WF-1000XM3
-that's one thing I got from this video.
Good information on this devices quirks. Hopefully some can be addressed with updates.
Thanks for the thorough (and fun 😁) review. Subscribed!
of course price can go down after a while.just bought these 12-1-21 new on ebay for $200 even
Great review. Like the casual style of it 👍
Great job devil dog. Semper fi.
Semper fidelis. Thanks for the awesome review. Subbed and thumbs 👊🏻
These should be delivered to my house on Monday. So excited.
You mentioned multi-connect in your video, besides the Jabra 85T, which other earbuds have this feature? I'm asking because the Jabra's are so heavy and the tips are "rubbery" they slide out and I'm looking for some that are really good quality, have multi-connect, and stay in my ears.
"like seeing that lady walk down the street" had me dying
First time listening and I like your style.
If they will come in blue like the WH-1000XM4 i will buy it 1000%
Love that ending, subbed
Thanks for the review. They are great and I think the smart thing to do is wait for sale on them. Any time it's less than 250$ it's going to be legit.
Hope you can review the jaybird travia 2 please
Do you still remember soundcore q10 you made me fall in love with those headphones and I Still Rock them they sound good as new till this day thank you for the Honest reviews🙌🙌🙌🙌
👊
Hey man great video. Are they loud enough though? because with previous earbuds i found that they do not get loud.
when using spotify on my iPhone for example, the WF-1000XM4 are quieter than the WF-1000XM3. I'm almost at full volume to get the sound I want (and I dont want to deafen myself).
These reviews need to include this question. I returned my m3 because the volume didn't get loud enough.
I'm running on a Note 20 Ultra and they are way louder than I would ever need. They get painfully loud for me, usually run less than half volume at the gym. That being said, my hearing is ridiculous.
Yikes. 300 bucks is hard to drop for wireless earbuds lmao. As always great vid my guy 🤙
There are a few more expensive ones. Though this one seems to have the best sound quality. I think it's a reasonable price for the best of the best.
I bought sp800n 84€ and returned because the case is too big for my pockets... Then I buy this xm4 180€ and it's all perfect for now
Hey man! Which is the earbud, that you friend had used?😬
