#ASUS #ROG #THOR - Věda a technologie
cheers for that been looking at PSU's lately and this was on the radar
I'm impressed at how accurate the display is, tbh - I'm used to them being very far out of whack.
I like your review on the PSUs thanks.
Thanks for your test. I have buy this PSU for 4080. All is good!
So you got brave and gave us another awesome power supply video Guv! Ham and Cheese Croissants.
I'm using this PSU too but the EVA version.
I agree one thing I don't like is the positioning of the fan.
Most cases have ventilation of PSU on the bottom if you want the display the fan is on the top.
I was forced to drill holes on my Phanteks P500A to have the PSU to breath air.
Gotta do everything just for the looks 😂
Hey! Thank you for the video! Would you say one could expect a Thor 3 with the native 16 pin connector or is this going to be the last one with the wattage display?
Thank you very much, Tom! 🇺🇸 😎👍☕
Ive had my Rog 1000 about 8 months, made a huge difference over the Rog 850 i had when i upgraded to a Strix 3080
I'm thinking of getting one of these after having my Corsair AX850i for the past decade. What have been the main benefits you have noticed?
What else does your system have that an 850w wasn't enough with an RTX 3080?
What do you mean? What 9:36 diference?
Am i right in thinking, the oled screen and rgb only comes on when you start PC ?, i mean it wont be on if plugged into the wall socket on standby will it, thx
thank you!
Do a test on the GIGABYTE GP-AP1200PM 1200W 80 Plus Platinum Certified Fully Modular Power Supply it has those features
Hello, I am from Kazakhstan and my English is not very good. You have a good presentation of information. Tell me, do you have fan noise tests for this PSU?
Good review!
tyvm
pls review the deepcool pq1000m see if it blows up or not
Between the 850W and 1000W Thor II, which one would be better for the i9 13900K with a Ryujin III 360 ARGB cooler?
Please recommend me a couple of quiet and high quality 1200w power supplies. Thank you.
Does it have a usb connection to the motherboard to monitor system power draw within windows in apps like AIDA64? The HXI has that
This look's very nice indeed, big fan of ROG.
Looks nice, but poorly executed. Dumb company has RGB facing the wrong way. Not good for an expensive psu. Totally defeats the entire purpose of it.
@@TheSjuris some of us don't care for the rgb and display. Personally I am here because of sleeved cables. Most of the time cablemod store does not work, ot it has delays or whatever else - everytime I visit their site. So here I am
@@denissh9478you’re not buying this psu unless you want the rgb display.
My 4080 won't boot up with that 12-pin. I'm supposed "Contact Asus for a 16pin?" I thought the data pins were supposed to communicate with the power supply? Should I return this PSU and find one with 'true' data like the ASUS Loki to get the true 600watts?
Tom, Cthulhu seems to be emerging from that PSU. You may want to vacate the premises.
I sent this psu back as when I contacted ASUS for the 16 pin they basically said they don't carry spare parts and refused to send it to me. overclockers were great at arranging an RMA. I am no currently using my rog thor 850 with my 5950x cpu limted to 4.5 mhz until i can get my hands on a ATX 3.0 1000w + psu. If i don't restrict my cpu or my 4090 gpu my pc will randomly reset when they spike. Its a shame as i really liked the THOR psu I am sceptical about if the lokis cables are going to be long enough for my 7000d case
That's a curious issue with the efficiency... 🤔 if I had to guess, it sounds like a weak electrolytic capacitor.
Man, I wish you did test the 600w cable. I have 1200w thor II and gonna use it to my 4090 GPU instead of default bulky one, but not sure if it really can support 600w or is only 300w.
Can you please test it? pleeeaassseeee
Interesting that you don't seem to have tested any Seasonic branded power supplies. Are they not so popular in the UK or is it just a sponsorship thing?
This would be very interesting since the Asus PSUs are basically made by Seasonic
@@Mom19 My interest is that Seasonic seem to be the gold standard. As you stated they also make PSU's for other companies. However not all the models for said companies and they still make PSU's for the other companies specifications. I know reddit has a recommended list of PSU's as well, so it would be interesting how actual tests compare to these recommendations.
Great video
Hello, I have a question, can I connect a source like the video to a 2500VA (1,750w) stabilizer to filter fluctuations in my power supply and not damage my computer?
Am i right in thinking, the oled screen and rgb only comes on when you start PC ?, i mean it wont be on if plugged into the wall socket on standby will it, thx
"What I would do is flick the..." At that point I got an ad for a Nissan electric car. Algorithms, eh?
Just picked one up on sale for 219.00 US.
Great job and appreciate the honest review. Good stuff
How do you like the Asus rog Thor II 1000W so far, are you getting any Fan issue like load noise on full load or higher load? Let me know.. thanks
@@CheezyBurg3r Sure, it's quiet under load. I've ran serval benchmarks and it has performed well. I'm running a 4090 FE, ASUS Z790 maximus. She's running at 6.2 1c, 6.1 2c, and 5.9 on the rest. I got it for 219$ US and really happy with it. ONE BIG NOTE: Don't use the included VGA cable for 40 series. It was designed for use with the 3090/ti. It isn't mentioned anywhere and has created some confusion. :)
Where'd you get it from?

Would like to see how EVGA power supplies stack up
EVGA is a trash psu
How to ask for the 16 pins cable?
Wish this really had a 16 pin Gen 5 inbuilt connector :/.
Hello what do you think you can use the ASUS ROG Thor 1200W Platinum lI| 1200W PC
Buy the power supply without hesitation because my thor 1200w just broke, you need a new power supply and the ASUS ROG Thor 1200W Platinum lI| 1200W PC
Power supply has everything you need
I have the first Thor 1200w on 7700K and Strix 1000w on 10850K... I love them, too bad there is no software for it.
Anyone had issues with this PSU Paired with ROG 3090 OC?, cause mine broke, after some research it was the 3090 spiking voltage that the psu cant Handle
Is it me or does he look like Lee Mack 😅 that's one sexy PSU.
HEY MSI SUPRIM X or ASUS ROG STRIX ??
the gen 5 cable does not work for me.
Im currently building my pc with the lian li o11 dynamic evo rgb and im overwhelmed with all these cables for the psu. Do all of them have to be connected?
NO, its modular psu, you use cables that you need, not all of them, 24pin mobo, 3-4 8pin for high end gpu, 1-2 8pin for cpu and 1-2 cables for sata drives/ other devices,
hes just test psu with all the cables possible
I have the Thor 850W (version I). I just installed it from sitting brand new in box for several months and the screen intermittently fails after start-up. Sometimes the animations look like they are cutting out, sometimes the numbers freeze and one just flickers, sometimes the screen just shows dots, sometimes it just goes black. If I restart the PC a few times it usually works fine and I can play games for hours with it functioning as normal. I updated to the most recent BIOS and chipset driver. I also checked the cable connections. Any ideas other than RMA?
Mine worked without it plugged into the board?
@@OC3D I tried the other 5V aRGB header on my ASUS ROG Strix X570-E. I also tried unplugging the 5V aRGB from both the motherboard and PSU. I tested without Armoury Crate and then with Armoury Crate. I also tested different AURA settings in BIOS, loaded optimized defaults in BIOS, disabled fast boot in BIOS, and disabled fast boot in Windows. None of the above seem to make any difference. At this point, it seems more temperature/use related than anything. If I cold start the PC after sitting overnight, the screen cuts out. If I game for 5-10 minutes to warm things up and shut the PC down and restart it the screen seems to start working no issues. Maybe it's related to the microcontroller or a capacitor inside the PSU? It seems my only options for further testing before RMA are to clean re-install windows, remove the PSU to spray with canned air to remove the little bit of dust on it, and re-plug in the cables.
@@OC3D I ended up sending it in for RMA. They verified it was a defective unit. A "new" (refurbished) unit with a different serial # is in the mail coming back to me.
Wish the fan was at the bottom
I'd prefer wattage readout over non-relevant images but no way I'd spend that much on a 1000W unit though... Maybe 2000W Titanium with a 20yr warranty.
The 1600W ROG Titanium is 800 bucks... :-D
@@BernhardWeber-l5b I'd get the Super Flower 8Pack Edition 2000W Platinum over that :p
best psu for 14900k and rtx 4090? seasonic prime tx 1000w ? maybe another?
I have the seasonic vertex 1200 and it has an annoying coil whine when starting up PC. Returning and getting this because it’s supposed to be the quietest decibel wise
i like the evangelion themed THOR,wish they would make that or another Gundam themed one.
i have this psu, anyone know how i get the app to control the rgb on it? i cant seem to find it. :-/
For a new high end PSU not being a real PCIe Gen 5 is pretty stupid.
Nah
@@dougleydorite yea it is
Well, it was a good idea they didn’t.
Looks like Asus made the right decision. Nvidia is changing the 12VHPWR connection.
$500 in Australia.
holy fuck, oh wait, 480 usd in Ukraine. Not far off
Support 13900k + rtf 4090 …¿
FYI, there is no where to get a 16 pin for this. You have to buy one yourself from say Cablemod.
I've just bought one today to come tomorrow. The website says it comes with a 600w lead and if you don't get one, let your local rep know and they will send one out. Not sure how recent this was whether it was at launch or recent ones being made now as it says on the advert where I bought it from its the 450w. Or should I say comes with 12 pin on amazon site but asus website says ask for 16 pin if it didn't come with one. I don't get that if this isn't a gen 5 psu, would the 16 pin they say you get with it have 2 or 3x pcei at the other end since the psu itself doesn't have the official gen 5 connection?.
@@chrisgatecliffe It comes with a 3x 8 pin to a 12 pin that doesn't have those 4 data ports.
I got one from Cablemod on order for my PSU. Turns 4x PCIE 8 pins into one 12+4 pin 12vhpwr plug to run at the full 600w.
Without those 4 data pins it'll limit the card to 450w.
I tried to get ASUS to send me one and they wouldn't or couldn't. Their customer service is a solid meh.
@@WyFoster ah OK, so if I've got this right there will be the 16 pin connector going into the gpu, then 4x pcie cables going into the psu that you have order from cable mod, but in the box just a 12 pin into going into the gpu without the data connector and 3x pcie going into the psu?. I've got a 5900x which I only use pbo for their built in overclock, and I won't be overclocking the 4090 at all and using the basic overclock they have on the card. So basically would the cable it comes with suit me because I should technically be way under 1000w, or just get a similar cable like you to be safe?.
@@chrisgatecliffe I personally would like to have the custom cable. It's expensive. Like $50+ with shipping. But it's nice.
12 pin will probably work fine unless you you buy an overclocked model. They might need over 450w.
@@WyFoster I suppose I can just see what's in the box tomorrow depending how old the box is. I take it cablemod you chose is the 16 pin micro-fit to 4x 8 pin PCI-e cable for 4090 600w gpu at 39.90 eur? There's no uk website I guess and to buy from euro site, assuming you are from Europe too?
I won't lie, this PSU is super overpriced, but i caved and bought the Eva version of it.
Bruh you bought the even more expensive one too 🤣
Design is bad, if you have to install it upsidedown yours lights are gone and in a lot of cases the hole wont let lights to show
Just install it fans up (if there's ventelations above it). You even get less dust that way, I think
Anyhow, I have the previous version installed fan down, I've never even seen the rgb and display, nor care for it that much, it's just a gimmick
@@denissh9478congrats on wasting money away.
pc parts keep going up in price and older parts too.
if you want an upgrade sell your kidneys and hope you don't bleed out.
