    This is actually one of the best videos of Sarah. I'm one of her biggest fans, and I found her here to be very natural, and very very funny. I also like the set up and the laid back crowd. Every time I'm bored, I put the video on and it cheers me up. I love Sarah!!!...Also Andy is so awesome.

    Sarah's adopt a disabled child emerged from her concerns about overpopulation. It's a loving gesture on her part, even if only an intention and not something she'll do.

    "How do you get your ideas" its such a stupid question. or just a wrong one. It implies creative process is one of deliberate, rational construction, like you are using a 5 step process to making pancakes. The point is creativity brings new stuff about. Its NEW so you can't make it from old parts unless they suddenly combine in new ways. Which they tend to do in the subconscious and then get actualized when the right context is just there. It is not constructed. You call for it and it just pops up. Or not. Or you don't call and it pops up anyway. The talent is paying attention when it happens and sensing if its a whale and not a minnow moving down there in the dark. After that comes all the craft stuff to help you not fuck it up but its already there in essence. You must be in touch and not sitting around thinking stuff up and being really clever. You don't control it. You accept what is given to you in stead of forcing it to be what ever it its you think is needed or required or what you want it to be. People think they want to be creative but they don't want it to be what it is. They want something reliable and useful and predictable that yields good product. Usually its something else people want and they only want to be creative because they think its gonna get them there. Like more profit. They want the results of creativity, not creativity itself. They want the tame version that does not suggest you go make a suit from legoes and pidgeon feces.

    • @Historian212
      @Historian212 Před 3 lety

      I think he was asking about her creative process, which is a fair question, one that many successful creative people have considered and discussed. As a writer himself - and a brilliant one, imho - I’m sure he’s aware of the quicksilver nature of creativity.

    • @whynottalklikeapirat
      @whynottalklikeapirat Před 3 lety

      @@Historian212 I am sure he was. But it's a poorly phrased, imprecise question that demonstrates a lack of insight on the behalf of the interviewer. And it's an interview cliche, that artists get all the time, and usually hate it because half of them can't really answer it and the other half can't really speak meaningfully of what it is they do based on a question like that.

    The comments on this video are a perfect demonstration of what is wrong with comment sections and social media in general. If you aren't a fan of Sarah or Andy...two really worthwhile human beings who make this world a more interesting place...just go away. None of the comments at the top reflect any sort of intelligent review...and seem clearly to be baiting thinking people. You probably are all fakes, trolls, or whatever, so why bother to say more? I do hope those types suffer for the harm they are doing with their online activity, as it is ruining what could be a wonderful democratic medium that otherwise could benefit all of us. I love Sarah Silverman's comedy. But... is she not aware of black comedians? Did I miss when she finally named one? Eddie Murphy... Chris Rock... Dave Chappelle... any of these sound familiar. I thought when she got the "favorite DEAD comedian", Richard Pryor would (at least) be mentioned.
    Nope.
    Whoopi Goldberg worked with Billy Crystal (white), and Robin Williams (white) for lots of Comic Relief specials... Wanda Sykes with Larry David (white)... I guess they don't come to mind, either.
    But... Ruth Gordon... naturally. Born in 1896. Died in 1985.
    George Carlin... born 1937, died 2008... was "out-of-sync" with her childhood.
    Ms. Silverman is (allegedly) 4 years older than I am.
    George Carlin was my FAVORITE comedian since Carlin on Campus was on HBO in 1985. He did a show on MY COLLEGE CAMPUS in 1996; watched it, and stuck around with other students to talk with him after. NO ONE complained about offensive material. We were his fans. And, he... had a TREPIDATIOUS smile and handshake for each of us.
    But, it was a State University. State school kids have a different mentality, even today. We had a hostage situation and shooting in 1995; a grad student, demanding that someone from the CIA remove the chip from his head, and someone from financial aid approve his tuition. A frat-boy was (non-fatally) shot while attempting to disarm the "gunman". I lived off-campus, and encountered a blocked entrance to the outer, campus road: "Officer... my classes aren't even in the Lecture Center. They're in the Physics Building. Do you really need to close the WHOLE campus?"
    How about Redd Foxx? Born 1922, died 1991. Was Sanford and Son blocked from TV in Massachusetts? Harlem Nights, banned from theaters? Or... was he just "out-of-sync"? :-)
    I know... she didn't mention Mel Brooks, Jerry Lewis or Gene Wilder, either. I'm mostly breaking balls.
    Mostly. lol
