  • This city is known as “the second Chernobyl” but people still live here in the uranium contaminated environment.
Echoing the chilling narrative of the Chernobyl disaster, our documentary unveils the haunting story of Zhovti Vody, a city wrestling with its own nuclear specter. Once a thriving center for uranium mining, Zhovti Vody now confronts a radiation crisis eerily akin to the aftermath of the Chernobyl catastrophe.
Journey through the city's battle with dangerously high radiation levels, a grim legacy of its uranium-laden history. Witness the health crisis unfolding among the residents, with escalating cancer rates linked to radon, a lethal byproduct of uranium decay.
Experience the harsh reality of a healthcare system failing to address the devastating health effects of nuclear fallout, echoing the initial missteps in the Chernobyl disaster response. Probe into allegations of government cover-ups, as the true severity of the situation is downplayed, mirroring the initial denial in the Chernobyl crisis.
Our documentary spotlights the courageous individuals battling for justice amidst these nuclear adversities, serving as a poignant reminder of the enduring effects of radiation and the tragic lessons unheeded from Chernobyl.

Good humanitarian journalism. It's frightening how difficult it is for the ordinary people who have to live there to get anyone to help them.
Sinister ! I just hope the people who have to live there manage to get some help somehow and they get compensation at least for what they have had to go through. It's tragic .

Ask the people of New Mexico-hundreds of square miles contaminated with uranium mine tailings....never cleaned up. The same think in the UK, France, Australia.

I love watching these former Soviet videos. I always wondered from whom I inherited my short, stocky stature and facial features. I’m a quarter Russian from my mother’s side, but she and her brother both took after my grandmother who was Polish/German. Now that I’m in my mid-sixties, I see that I look like your typical Russian lady in her 50’s and 60’s.
(My maternal grandfather was Russian, but he was in and out-excuse pun-of grandma’s life long enough to conceive three children before he took a train to Chicago about a possible “job,” and conveniently disappeared. We have one photo of him that’s of poor quality, even for then. His face is indistinct and you can’t see him from below the shoulders because it’s a group picture.)

Why is this video in my country not available? Its just hard to understand. This is a good documentary but my guess is, that someone in charge there paid for to limit this videos reach.

Somehow, I doubt it. My Dad worked with radiation in the 1950’s-1980’s in the US Navy. He passed at 96, by some miracle or fluke of nature. His Navy buddies and those the AEC and NRA nearly all passed from cancer, leukemias in particular. Dad was treated four times for prostate and skin cancers, beat them, and passed from a heart attack.

Does anyone make lead blanket underwear? Perhaps I could make them from old lead blankets and start a business?

What a hell for these unfortunate people. These things also happen less extreme in Uncle Sam's two (one ?) party state though .
Who started all this nuclear arms race ? And who used nuclear weapons on citizens no matter how much the Japanese military asked for it ?

The dangers weren’t well understood in the 1950’s. Even less during the Manhattan project.
