QuickBooks Online Contractors Mark Up Billable Expenses

In this QuickBooks Online contractor training class, you will learn how to “Mark Up” the billable expenses that you charge your clients for. You could just follow the steps in the prior videos, and then manually change the amount of the expense after it has been placed on to a job invoice. However, if you want this to happen automatically, then you would have to make a default mark up percent. You do this by returning to the account settings or company settings window. Then you open the same section that you did when you activated track expenses by customer - “billable expenses”. That’s the place you set the default markup expense for reimbursable expenses. Then you can add billable costs to an invoice and have QuickBooks online automatically add the markup to the customer’s invoice. The income from the marked up amount will show separately in the profit and loss by customer report.
