  • On this adventure, we explore Montezuma Well National Monument, near Camp Verde and Sedona, Arizona. We explore the well-preserved archaeological sites of a mysterious pre-Columbian culture to get a glimpse into how the native people of ages past lived in this fantastic and challenging terrain.
Montezuma Well is a very intriguing geological location too, and this episode gives some insight into how the well was formed.
An added bonus is you will get to see extremely well-preserved graffiti from the 19th Century written on the cliff walls.
We also found that Montezuma Well is a fantastic place to keep cool during the hot Arizona summers. You can dip your feet into the crystal clear, cool waters of an old canal fashioned by the disappeared Sinaguan Indian and Hohokam cultures who sculpted the landscape hundreds, if not thousands of years ago.

Did this visit yesterday, Swallet trail was closed due to hybridized bee season and Outlet trail was only open 2/3 of the way, so I couldn't reach the spot to dip your feet in but still left with so much amazement❤

Oh no! Sorry to hear that the trails were not all opened. Though I suppose it's better not having to wander about some bees and upsetting them. 😬

Well, that was neat! Side note, Amy's silent hand performance feeding the donation box was oddly amusing.

The well water itself and the outflow is highly poisonous due to the ammonia content. Clean water is upstream of the outflow

If you start your comment, "do you think it's wrong" it probably is!

It is how it is pronounced here in Arizona. Definitely not the "correct" way but unfortunately a lot of Spanish and French words got butchered over time. 🤷‍♀️
