  • Sneak peek of new episodes of Ultimate Shot season 3 and Safari Season. Moose and caribou hunt at Newfoundland - Big River Camps - October 2016 with Archie Nesbitt and Vladimir Donchev.
    You will see how we process and carry on his meat alone for more than 10 miles in the swamps, and we tried the next day. It was really good made by our fantastic camp chef. Amazing adventure, beautiful nature, the best hunting guides. Thank you, Big River Camps.
    Part of the story as it is:
    The second moose...
    The river flowing from the lake separated us from the lying animal. It was quite improbable to cross the small river without it seeing us. Our action plan was simple, and it included the female silhouette and the masterful shouts made by our hunting guide. After sensing the moose would head directly towards the silhouette, Archie sneaked at some 30 meters in front of us, in the animal’s direction. Once the hunter was ready, he faced and signaled us. Everything was perfectly positioned. The moose in the distance was in line with the shouter holding the tease in the shape of female moose, and it was me and the cam in the end. Everything was planned, and it was up to the moose to do its part of the plan and attack the silhouette making the battle calling of a male moose. It almost worked out, but almost. The moose stood up, just like we expected, and headed in the direction of the silhouette and the hidden hunter. Thus, it kept on moving for some time, but it decided not to cross the river and approach us from the wind direction at some hundred meters. It went along the bank, going by the hunter and approaching us from the side opposite Archie. Our plan was good, but it didn’t work out, and I proved closest to the moose with my cam. The animal stopped for a while 20 meters from us and, with the already well-known swaying walk, started approaching me. I was standing still, squatting in the shrubs, but felt the moose saw me. Initially, the animal was heading towards the silhouette, but once it got very close, it decided to try out the smallest competitor, and that was me. My situation was not pinkish at all. I had nothing handy to protect myself from the moose. I had nowhere to run because I had a hundred meters of short bushes in the forest. Everything I could do was holding the cam and trying to take my last shots to be remembered. The moments in which all this happened seemed endless to me. I was shooting the moos from a very close perspective and had no idea where Archie and our hunting guide were. I knew they were somewhere around me, but I didn’t dare more not to provoke the moose and make it attack me. After our morning close meeting with the moose, I could still hear the hunter’s words resounding in my head. I knew it was no different than then, and if Archie didn’t kill the huge animal by chance, any moment, even if wounded, it would pass through me and crush me. Just when the animal was several meters from me, and I could hear its noisy and frightful breathing out before the attack, I heard arrows whistling by me. I was ready to jump off my place should the moose attack me, but Archie’s shot was so precise that it hit the animal’s spine. The hit immobilized the giant, and it fell on the spot as if thunderstruck. Archie went to the animal and put its sorrows to an end with an arrow right in the heart. At the time, I was thankful to the hunter for not being in the victim’s place. After that hunting session and my experience with these animals, I could state that the moose is the second most dangerous animal after the grizzly bear in the North American continent.

    Great skydraw dude, if you can't draw your bow quickly and without sky drawing then lower the pull lbs. Not a big fan of that first shot on the caribou either but good hunt.

    This is how MAN was made to hunt. To all the people who are hating on this, how do you think your chicken, your bacon, your porkchop, your hamburge, your hotdogs and your steaks are killed. Its definitely not like this. They are raised then killed. Head chopped off for chickens, lambs, pigs and cows hung by their feet upside down then their throats slit to bleed out to keep the meat tender. So just remeber how you eat your meat how to was raised and how it was killed. Then remember how this animal lived free, died a good death.

      THINK OF THE CLOTHES ON YOUR BACK, THE SHOES ON YOUR FEET, YOUR WALLET, OR POCKET BOOK, LOOK AROUND YOUR HOUSE, YOU WILL FIND SO MANY THING'S COME FROM THESE ANIMAL'S . AND REMEMBER HUNTER'S ARE THE BEST CONSERVATIONIST'S , AND ANIMAL LOVER'S WHO SPEND BILLION'S, MOST OF THIS MONEY GOES TO CONSERVATION , SO REMEMBER THIS AND ASK YOURSELF WHO ARE THE ONE'S THAT PUT IN THE MOST, NOT JUST WORD,S , BUT THE FIELD WORK, AND FUND'S . THE LOVER'S OF THIS BEAUTIFUL WORLD WE LIVE IN.. -} ODDIE RED {- P.S. THE BRACKET'S AROUND ODDIE RED ARE TWO BOW'S AND ARROW'S , AND THE WORD ODDIE IS WHAT I CALLED MY WIFE, SHE IS WITH GOD, LOST TO BREAST CANCER, 5 YRS AGO, THE WORD RED IF FOR ME, I'M CHEROKEE INDIAN..... The three guides and two camp workers helped carry out all the meat. It was hung it in the meat house and then cut up, wrapped and split. We even gave some meat to the pilot.
    The other 2 hunters took everything home to the NE USA in their trailer freeing units.
    This was the only hunt and the only meat for the local people that year, who worked so hard at this outpost camp.
    In Newfoundland you can not hunt moose every year and the meat is a HOT commodity - everyone everywhere, in moose country, loves moose meat!

    To the best of my knowledge, that was a spine shot. I'm very curious to know if that was intentional. Good hunters know the kill zones at the vitals for various animals, so, I'm just really wondering how this particular devastating shot was chosen: or was it a fluke. Great footage btw. Thanks!

    • @travisrushton7966
      @travisrushton7966 Před 7 lety +3

      Viking-Raider... I've never seen a spine shot moose; so this was a first! It likely took more than 1 and more often than not (and you probably know this) the shot is misjudged and or the broad-head decides on a different trajectory after it impacts and encounters "whatever" medium (RIBS often, shoulder blade/bone sometimes)...
      I've never spined an animal with a bow and had to put them down, but I have had to take more than 1 shot... in this case, a cow elk due to a shot just above the lungs and just under the spine. The second shot was longer than I like but was "on the money". I was somewhat amazed to see the Moose in the video fall. After watching the 'bou hunt though; I think he musta been pulling 80+lbs! Looked like it took some effort! No offense to the shooter, it's just I'd rather be accurate than high powered. My first Bull elk was taken with 63lbs at about 20 yards with a pass through. First Black Bear at around 12 yards with a ham and out the lung shot at 57lbs (he went 15 yards). Deer and Elk I believe are the toughest 2 of the big game; with HEAVY emphasis placed on the adrenaline within the animal. If they are calm and get taken... they go less distance, seem to cut and taste better after the fact; and, IMO take less tracking (something I'm not fond of!) If you don't know how to track, shoot a rifle (DRT); where legal, track with a Dog, and perhaps most importantly, KNOW your realistic shooting range!

    It's human nature to hunt! Nothing wrong with hunting animals, the only time when its wrong to hunt is when the animal ur hunting is endangered or when u just go on a rampage and keep killing anything that moves(aka hunting more than u need) pkus these guns kill the pray waaay faster than any other predator, way less painful to be hunted by human being than being eaten alive by hyenas or wild dogs

      the animal has to be butchered and the meat packed out so they went back for a 4 wheel vehicle as you dint go driving around in a vehicle and expect to find animals

    Why so many dislikes....
    Haterz can go and eat McDonalds. You know, the place where they jam 400 chickens into one cage, imobilize them so the wings stay soft, add colour, smell, and fry in the same oil for months...
    I'll stick with hunting

      I thought there may have been a method to the madness.... Generally you would avoid hitting the spine as it's a bit less humane? A good shot in the heart and he would've dropped in no time.

    • @jupitervalhalla8708
      @jupitervalhalla8708 Před 7 lety

      exactly "not to be smashed by the moose" because if the moose murdered you for food you probably would think that wasnt right. big dumb animal kill a man for food. very sad. yet without your weapon thats what you would be. but with your weapen thats what the moose is. fucking coward

    • @BCOutdoorwilderness
      @BCOutdoorwilderness Před 7 lety +2

      spine shot can drop them on the spot. even shot in heart can run a bit. their dead and dont know it yet to drop. adrenaline, cut the spine and its paralized and dead from cutting the cord.

      Может быть оставят всё остальное медведю или волкам, те тоже жрать горазды. В природе безотходное "производство". Зато съёмки наших охотников всегда вой, лай, бах-трах и всё подряд крушат.

    hate it when people feel it's necessary to comment about hunting. Anyone that HUNTS and video tapes the HUNT isn't in it for the horns. Please don't watch HUNTING videos if you feel the need to suggest that these very rich people kill for the sport. No guide is gonna take these people to such great extremes to slaughter these perfect specimens and just let it rot. Don't watch!

    • @VilRuS
      @VilRuS Před 6 lety +6

      Agreed. They also don't understand the physical and mental effort hunters put into some of these hunts in Alaska or Canada or any other rough terrain hunts. And being out in the rain and wind and being wet and cold. Not like they stay at a 5 star hotel and just walk a short ways into the wilderness and stick the animal quick.

      Been spending 30 minutes everyday to find hunting videos, watch them and like them just to fight off those annoying dislikes on CZcams for 3 years now... Jesus Christ, what's the point of disliking every killing, hunting videos of those people?
      Hunting is now both a respected lifestyle and an enjoying hobby, we're not shooting at bizons from trains for mere sick fun like we did in the past anymore.

      it is for sport, you're not fooling anyone. I for one will continue to voice my comments against hunting, in this world you have the right to kill these beautiful animals and take pride in it, but at least people like me have the right to tell you that what you are doing is wrong.
