I had the SAME experience 🤭 I wasn't politically astute, but Trump's candidacy turned me onto CNN and watching the Black commentators. For that same reason, I stopped watching CNN and all corporate media.
I realized that Don Lemon would have like 6 people on at a time arguing back & forth PURELY for entertainment. I was being entertained... but never informed. It was all political sport and pitting funny Black educated commentators vs. gaslighting white supremacist Trump lackeys. News was chasing the algorithms and became a reality TV show.
It wasn't until I stopped watching CNN, MSNBC, and The View that I actually began learning about politics and became informed vs. being entertained. Joy Ann Reid, Tiffany Cross, Andrew Gilllam, Angela Rye, Sunny Hostin, Whoopi, Don Lemon... they are all Black faces in high places, and they all receive corporate checks.
