I live in the village only a few minutes from Murrays home, and often saw him out and about in real life. And he was a true gentleman to little kids who recognised him, old fashioned ladies first, holding doors open, and on a personal level, as being disabled and having mobility issues, he would step aside and give me an encouraging nod and smile.
For a world wide sports celebrity he was an unassuming, classic english gent in his local comunity, and never carried airs or graces. As a local figure, by god i will miss the man.

I cannot imagine how hard this must of been for the pair of them. But they did a great job of giving us some great memories of Murray Walker. He (Murray) had an amasing life decades of being a great commentator in F1 and many other racing series. I hope that all the drivers dedicate the first race of the season to his memory. R.I.P Murray Walker.

So many great memories of watching F1 with Murray commentating. One of my personal favourites was a scene with Hakkinen making a pass on someone. The pass was replayed immediately and Murray says “and Hakkinen passes him AGAIN!!!” To which Martin said “it’s a replay Murray” flatly.
Only Murray could make a mistake like that so endearing. Martin was also a gentleman as the straight man to Murray’s over the top, speak before you think style of enthusiasm.

Murray's retired the year I was born in 2001 but from my grandfather i heard a lot about him. In my grandfather's archives of old race videos I heard him, and I can say only one thing physically he is dead but he is and would be alive till eternity in the memories of his admirers.

When this cut to Ted outside the McLaren garage, it suddenly hit me that Murray's actually left us. It's difficult to register that someone with such energy, enthusiasm and positivity can pass on. He'll always be with the sport but it'll never be quite the same.

I can say I think with confidence, without Murray Walker, F1 would not be what it is today.
He brought it to millions with his enthusiasm, his friendly attitude to everyone, and his general appeal to absolutely everyone.
He deserves a trophy for best spirited driver each year, best character.
He deserves to be remembered every year.

I only caught the final 2 years of Murray's career my Dad always had F1 on the TV Sundays when it was on free TV, I was 4 then 5 years old and even then Murray's voice was very distinctive and oozed excitement to me, and his voice was a large part of my childhood with the PS1 Formula 1 game we had, I think it was Formula One 99 but I always looked forward to hearing "Go, Go, Go" at the start of each race. R.I.P Murray, thank you 🏁

Well said gentlemen. Met Murray when he signed my copy of his autobiography. He spent time talking to every single person there despite the attempts to speed things up.
As you said he wanted to know about you. What your thoughts of the current F1 were. He was more interested in that than telling you about himself.
