I think if it weren't for Mozart, we'd be talking Boccherini.
Whoever did the recording did a fantastic job in being able to balance the guitar to the orchestra. Too often the guitar is drowned out by the orchestra but this was perfect. In addition, it was marvellously played by all concerned.

This is really one of the greatest pieces of music ever.
Increíble interpretación. Imposible no emocionarse escuchando esa guitarra y esas castañuelas. Ahora eso sí, no nos olvidemos que esta obra no está compuesta por un español, es alucinante como un italiano afincado en Madrid consiguió interiorizar y transmitir de esta manera tan soberbia toda la esencia de la música, cultura y raza españolas.
Muy acertado su comentario, pero debo comunicarle que la "raza española" no existe. El español es una mezcla de muchas razas y pueblos llegados a la Península Ibérica a lo largo de siglos.

Esta magnífica pieza la hizo un italiano porque precisamente NO la hizo un español. Un ejemplo más de cómo era España. En las casas y en las mentes de los españoles no mandaban ni ciencia ni las artes, sino Dios!

Everybody is cute, except for the old people, which should tell you something about youth and aging, if you don't already know.
The guitar play is so non-assuming too! The best performers play so effortlessly!
How about the cellist? The cello has a big part. After all, Boccherini was a cellist. He wrote many cello concertos and the cello plays a big part in his works. But it's the camera that practically avoids the cellist, concentrating on a violinist who has a much lesser part. Not good.
I share the same opinion about the castanet player!
Du rythme dansant, beaucoup d'élégance, une touche de solennité sans pompe.
Une très belle interprétation par tout cet orchestre et ses jeunes solistes accompagnateurs (guitare, castagnettes) fait de cet instant musical un enchantement dépaysant. Bravo à tous.
Bel hommage rendu à l'Italien expatrié en Espagne, l'initiateur du violoncelle en tant qu'instrument solo (cf ses concertos).
Ses danses et ses zarzuelas profondément ancrées dans l'Espagne séculaire, son œuvre concertante et symphonique,
tout cela était bien loin de cette galanterie de l'époque, un peu superficielle, de musique de cour dont il s'était trouvé bien injustement affublé les siècles suivants. Justice lui soit rendue, c'est fait !

Insoluta e superba interpretazione del brano: orchestra a cui è abbinata la chitarra. D'ALTRONDE era inevitabile che ci fosse la presenza della chitarra ( mirabilmente suonata ) , strumento nazionale spagnolo e dell'area cattolica mediterranea ( sono Italiana, di Napoli).

Love this piece. First saw it performed live at the Dom in Stralsund, by the Cologne Chamber Orchestra. Fiirst time I'd even heard of it. So for that reason the one will always be my favourite, though this one is up there with it.

Muchos (y muchas) percusionistas tocan las castañuelas durante toda la pieza y con alta sonoridad, opacando al resto de la orquesta. Deberían aprender del joven intérprete de esta orquesta. Esperó pacientemente durante más de tres minutos para empezar a tocar porque así lo manda la partitura. Cuando inicia, solo toca cuando lo manda la partitura y, sobre todo, no eclipsa al resto de la orquesta. Enhorabuena.
