Thanks for making these mate. I'm an old butthurt Fantasy player, I have been angrily ignoring AoS after the, uhh, end times, but it's nice to see it's matured into a really cool game. I love the new aesthetic, nighthaunt are particularly badass.
Age Of Sigmar 2.0 has made it better than when it originally came out. Still a damn shame WHFB was killed to make it. At least we have Total War Warhammer

Now that it has some complexity, I might be down. It's still hard to justify models when they might pull the rug out again.

@@krisv1038 You have two options that I can think of! Tabletop simulator can be an immediate digital solution for a virtual version of the game. It isn't built for this game specifically, but I know that people play a whole host of tabletop games using that software. You could find a forum or a group that plays. If you want to play a game that is extremely close and have a strong computer, you should really check out the total war Warhammer games. Holy shit, I cannot sing high enough praises of those games. The only drawbacks is that the game is expanded by DLC, so there's a lot of it, and it's pretty spendy. That said, the game is H U G E, and the add ons are mostly optional. Wait for a steamsale, and still understand that this game costs like 150 bucks for a complete version.
You make some really good content, and I really like your voice + deadpan tone. I really wish that your kind of videos existed when I was first looking at warhammer. I remember being so frustrated at how hard it was to see how each faction worked mechanically.

I'm pretty sure a chaos battletome: Chaos Duardin would provide the AOS version of, if in 40k, the legion of the damned got a codex, do it you cowards, give us a aos chaos dwarf Dreadnaught with a steam train head

Aqshy is just a name of one of the main Wind of magic from Warhammer fantasy (fire magic). In the end times teclis deconstructed the vortex on ulthuan to empower malekith with pure magic so he can end tyrion blood rage. Eventually teclis failed, winds run away and found their incarnations etc Aqshy incarnated in Ungrim Ironfist as god Grimnir. In Age of sigmar are 8 realms which represents 8 main winds of magic and 1 realm of chaos

I...for a while not sure what to get as my first army then your description on the fyreslayer got me interested and begin to looked them up. I dont understand why no one likes them. The lore is great and having half naked muscular dwarves sounds even awesome! I want to represent low playrate army. They need some loves. part of the reasons people don't like them is because they go against everything the Dwarves in natural Fantasy settings stand for. They don't have any heavy plate armours, they ride salamander whilst Dwarves would rather trust their own 2 feet, they use magic (urg...), no artillery, no gun, things that make the Dwarves proud. And if you come from where we fantasy nerds come from, you'll see that people tend to cling onto things that make them comfortable. i'm not necessarily saying Fyreslayers concepts are bad, i'm just saying that people are not fond of changes.
Would you reccomend an skaven army that's only Clan skryre and maybe 1 grey seer? I love the explosions and magic theme and would love to have a battle line of stormfiends, other idea was going GSG
Clan skryre is super fun imo. One of the few clans (along with maybe pesilens) that can stand on its own. stormfiends are walking armies in a can, look totally sweet, but a bit slow and can get dog piled. Even still, I'd be on them if I played skaven, all I need is 'viable' to justify playing the coolest looking stuff.
That's what I played to go 4-1 at my first 5 round event after the book dropped. It's possible simply more monsters is better (such as the 5 stonehorn eurlbad 2drop I'm testing out) - but it plays more to a cagey style of objective tempo play that I tend to favor. 2 frostlords is strong and super fun, other stuff might be corner case better, but I think both are in the same tier and maybe personal pref. The loss of ethereal amulet is big, and currently testing out exactly how big.
@@HeyWoah What would be a good replacement for the Etheral Amulet? And what is the benefit of the double huskard and 3 beast rider list over the double frostlord list ?

Btw, I played my last game of AOS over a year ago (I'm mostly 40k competitive player), but my two Magma Cannons dealing 1d6 mortal wounds each turn were cool. Sadly, that's the only useful artillery train part of the army... Also, Bull Centaur hero is quite good, with Grotesque trait (-1 to hit) and that artifact granting another -1 to hit (and +1" move I believe). That results in fast and hard hitting model, surprisingly resilient with total of -2 penalty to be hit in CC (only -1 vs shooting attacks though) and ignoring the first wound taken each round due to his Blackshard armor. Line infantry is laughable, except rifle dwarfs, who are really dangerous. Forget about the really weak profile of the weapon as it is, only the mortal wounds count. Usually I used them to finish off units weakened by my Magma Cannons. The result is some CC potencial, great abilities generating mortal wound and solid spells (Fireball is a nice spell and you should really use some allies for even more direct damage spells). I like the army a lot and I believe, that I really got the best of it. But, as I don't really have any knowledge of today's AOS metagame, I can't even guess its power level when compared to other armies. Still, it is really surprising, what can you do with one short PDF document.

Why might Nighthaunt be maybe good now? It's perfectly okay as a sentence, though very hard to say and the word choices are a bit weird but the sentence is perfectly fine. Change "maybe" to "somewhat" and it's much easier to say but "maybe" is fine too.
Idoneth without doubt a bit of an outlier in terms of spam lists to be comptetive. If its not mass eels its just not doing well. Yeah Ironjawz like their Ardboyz but I've seen some Gore-grunta lists do well backed by Mawcrushas. And now that they are in Warclans I nornally see some Arrow boyz, etc. Its just bad balance in the Idoneth book. Not saying it doesn't exist in other books but they are an obvious example.
awesome video, and you are right. Skraggrot gotta retire but he is too good toolbox of everything: one man artillery, magic, anti magic purpose, moon positioning, and most of all, CP banks of Switzerland. gitz are, in my opinion, king of underdog tiers, and looking for taking throne of good tier.

Great video as always. If you have the time, what makes DoK powerful and HoS underdog? Seems like they both have a lot of the same vulnerabilities, and DoK lacks any summoning or fight first ability. Thanks again for your content definitely one of the AoS greats
What makes DoK Powerful is their durability while also having sheer offensive power. When you think of a horde of witch elves , you think of a glass cannon offensive unit, very strong offensively not so much defensively. not so with DoK. Their naked elves are more resilient than a god forged armoed Stormcast. They have 4+ save with shields and being near their cauldron. They have a 6+ Feel No Paint, buffed to a 5+ near their general in Hagg Nar (the only useful subfaction). With a prayer that goes of on a 3+ they re roll all Feel No Pain Saves. So imagine 2 blocks of WItches with 2-3 attacks each and that kind of save profile coming at you. Oh and they have a spell that gives them 2 damage each if your bravery is lower than theirs. As for Fight first, their sisters have a 6 inch combat pile range, so it avoid the fight first thing any opponents might have So its effectively a naked glass cannon, with toughnesss that would put Medieval knights to shame. Funnily enough Fyreslayers are the same way, so naked things in the game have better saves and damage resiliency than armored tanks
If I like the attrition playstyle of Legion of Grief with all the ghosts, should I just be playing ghost heavy Legion of Nagash instead if legality is an issue? Which of those legions actually plays ghost heavy the best?
It's a trade off between their named heroes for the most part. If you weren't going to play with olyndr or kurdoss then it's an easy LoN choice. Probably sacrament in a vacuum.
FAQ Designer's Commentary GHB2020 - it's not that they can't capture objectives, it's that they don't count for Bonus points on certain battleplans. So some of them say 1 extra point if captured by a "Battleline" unit or a "Behemoth" unit, etc, and the note states that units "added to your army during the game don't gain their normal pitched battle profiles". That's why it's only a small chunk taken out of the HoS battletome image I made - it's minor but a thing.
No, though spamming is fairly rare (with some famous exceptions like Eels, ardboys, blightkings) others rarely use more than 3 of a unit just naturally.
I have idk and i run akhelian corps with a king and eidolon instead of purely eels i feel like running 24 eels is very bland and boring and i feel like the turtle and eidolons get a bad rep, turtles cover save has won games for me and the eidolons reroll wounds is very powerul when you keep the eels within range of it. the sharks arent to bad either they generally do very well you just have to play smart. Im running powerful army but a supposedly weak list for deepkin.

I’m not trying to be a smart ass here so correct me if I’m wrong but as far as reading the battleplans and building to win them, aren’t most of them basically just “take objectives and sit on them to gain victory points”?
Even if they were just that, there would still be building implications. For instance there's battleplans with 2 objectives and battleplans with 8. Therefore if your army was one 800pt hero, one giant deathstar of 30 guys, and then 2 min battleline - you'd do very well on the first one and nearly auto-lose the second one. Though there are meaningful differences in battleplans, such as the unit Type which may give bonus points, some favor camping by giving snowballing points and some favor taking, burning the obj, then moving on, some win the game instantly if you control both and are far away, etc

Guys help me please. We are playing in AoS and have question : how archers and war machines are fighting in melee. Are they using missile weapons or only melee because in core rules have rule for shooting. Archers can shoot in units in range 3 but 3 is distance of pill in. Is that’s mean archers archers and war machines are using missile profile in melee fighting?
HeyWoah oh so if my archers stay in battle they shooting and after fighting with melee weapon, and warmachine same? For example warp lighting cannon can shoot if enemy stay with it in close combat? Is it correct I understood? And last question about skavens book of woe if skaven monks fighting in close combat can I use this ability?and also wizards can cast if they are in close combat?sorry for this stupid questions before I played in 40K and some different rules
40k's shooting is incredibly powerful so I think it has some mechanics about not shooting if you're in melee? I don't know 40k rules well, but in Age of Sigmar the shooting units tend to instantly die if someone charges them, so if you live, yes you can shoot while within 3 of enemy models (you just have to target that enemy unit).
HeyWoah yes in 40K not shooting in melee and in unit what fighting with some your unit, can you answer about wizards and book of woe?) and war machines also shooting in melee? for me this is very strange
Yeah, you can shoot, cast magic, do all that stuff. These are battle mages, if they couldn't cast spells in combat they would be so bad. Some siege engines like catapults and stuff have a minimum range that can't fire in combat, but it will say so on their warscrolls.
That train i love as much as Biden loves trains how does not loves trains with big guns!!! When i had the modell i would from the mortar train the length of the gun must be as big and long as the schwere Gustaf or the Dora!!!
I'm happy that Warcry wasn't just AoS skirmish, but yeah, the warbands are complete trash for AoS proper. I say just call them marauders so you can have cool models.
Custom Untamed Beasts as marauders would 100% be the play if I was on slaves to darkness - it's the last piece of the puzzle to make your entire army look amazing, where nothing doesn't look cool.

Yeah Ironjawz like their Ardboyz but I've seen some Gore-grunta lists do well backed by Mawcrushas. And now that they are in Warclans I nornally see some Arrow boyz, etc. Its just bad balance in the Idoneth book. Not saying it doesn't exist in other books but they are an obvious example.
Please, please PLEASE give us the transport tiers. And as many other oddball tiers as possible. Mind melting rule volume tiers anyone?

If you have the time, what makes DoK powerful and HoS underdog? Seems like they both have a lot of the same vulnerabilities, and DoK lacks any summoning or fight first ability. Thanks again for your content definitely one of the AoS greats
DoK, even though it might not seem like it at first glance, is actually very durable. Also does about double the damage HoS can pull off.
What makes DoK Powerful is their durability while also having sheer offensive power. When you think of a horde of witch elves , you think of a glass cannon offensive unit, very strong offensively not so much defensively. not so with DoK. Their naked elves are more resilient than a god forged armoed Stormcast.
They have 4+ save with shields and being near their cauldron. They have a 6+ Feel No Paint, buffed to a 5+ near their general in Hagg Nar (the only useful subfaction). With a prayer that goes of on a 3+ they re roll all Feel No Pain Saves. So imagine 2 blocks of WItches with 2-3 attacks each and that kind of save profile coming at you. Oh and they have a spell that gives them 2 damage each if your bravery is lower than theirs.
As for Fight first, their sisters have a 6 inch combat pile range, so it avoid the fight first thing any opponents might have
So its effectively a naked glass cannon, with toughnesss that would put Medieval knights to shame. Funnily enough Fyreslayers are the same way, so naked things in the game have better saves and damage resiliency than armored tanks
If I like the attrition playstyle of Legion of Grief with all the ghosts, should I just be playing ghost heavy Legion of Nagash instead if legality is an issue? Which of those legions actually plays ghost heavy the best?
It's a trade off between their named heroes for the most part. If you weren't going to play with olyndr or kurdoss then it's an easy LoN choice. Probably sacrament in a vacuum.

Where does it say that summoned units can’t capture objectives? I can’t seem to find this in any book
FAQ Designer's Commentary GHB2020 - it's not that they can't capture objectives, it's that they don't count for Bonus points on certain battleplans. So some of them say 1 extra point if captured by a "Battleline" unit or a "Behemoth" unit, etc, and the note states that units "added to your army during the game don't gain their normal pitched battle profiles". That's why it's only a small chunk taken out of the HoS battletome image I made - it's minor but a thing.
Will you do a faction focus on lumineth? Or are they still too new to make calls on whats good or general strategy?

No, though spamming is fairly rare (with some famous exceptions like Eels, ardboys, blightkings) others rarely use more than 3 of a unit just naturally.
You honestly Canr have a rule like that in this game. Most AoS armies dont gave enough good units to not do 3+ of a unit
I have idk and i run akhelian corps with a king and eidolon instead of purely eels i feel like running 24 eels is very bland and boring and i feel like the turtle and eidolons get a bad rep, turtles cover save has won games for me and the eidolons reroll wounds is very powerul when you keep the eels within range of it. the sharks arent to bad either they generally do very well you just have to play smart. Im running powerful army but a supposedly weak list for deepkin.
I myself run storm eidolon, reavers, and even lotan in my IDK list. only 6 or 9 eels. A Powerful army lets you make a Fun List and still be fine

I’m not trying to be a smart ass here so correct me if I’m wrong but as far as reading the battleplans and building to win them, aren’t most of them basically just “take objectives and sit on them to gain victory points”?
Even if they were just that, there would still be building implications. For instance there's battleplans with 2 objectives and battleplans with 8. Therefore if your army was one 800pt hero, one giant deathstar of 30 guys, and then 2 min battleline - you'd do very well on the first one and nearly auto-lose the second one.
Though there are meaningful differences in battleplans, such as the unit Type which may give bonus points, some favor camping by giving snowballing points and some favor taking, burning the obj, then moving on, some win the game instantly if you control both and are far away, etc

Guys help me please. We are playing in AoS and have question : how archers and war machines are fighting in melee. Are they using missile weapons or only melee because in core rules have rule for shooting. Archers can shoot in units in range 3 but 3 is distance of pill in. Is that’s mean archers archers and war machines are using missile profile in melee fighting?
Shooting phase, you can shoot if it's your turn.
Combat phase, your archers can use their (usually bad) melee weapons.
HeyWoah oh so if my archers stay in battle they shooting and after fighting with melee weapon, and warmachine same? For example warp lighting cannon can shoot if enemy stay with it in close combat? Is it correct I understood? 40k's shooting is incredibly powerful so I think it has some mechanics about not shooting if you're in melee? I don't know 40k rules well, but in Age of Sigmar the shooting units tend to instantly die if someone charges them, so if you live, yes you can shoot while within 3 of enemy models (you just have to target that enemy unit).

Yeah, you can shoot, cast magic, do all that stuff. These are battle mages, if they couldn't cast spells in combat they would be so bad. Some siege engines like catapults and stuff have a minimum range that can't fire in combat, but it will say so on their warscrolls.

I'm happy that Warcry wasn't just AoS skirmish, but yeah, the warbands are complete trash for AoS proper. I say just call them marauders so you can have cool models.
Custom Untamed Beasts as marauders would 100% be the play if I was on slaves to darkness - it's the last piece of the puzzle to make your entire army look amazing, where nothing doesn't look cool.
