2010 Week 17 - Bears @ Packers

  • The road to the playoffs for the Pack is simple: win and they're in. But the 11-4 Bears, locked into the #2-seed, are playing their starters, and have no intention of making it easy.

      The Bears were monsters for a good chunk of years there. They needed better than Cutler. And even as a Packers fan, I lamented them not winning a championship with these players, especially Brian Urlacher, who is the blueprint for the modern linebacker. I also lament the replacement of his bad-ass bald head.

      Packer fan here. 2010 season was really a great chapter the Packer-Bear rivalry. They split the season series and played for the Super Bowl at the end of the year. How could you write a better script (no matter who won the NFC championship game) ? So much history between the two teams. Kinda like two brothers just going at it in the backyard for bragging rights. No better rivalry in the NFL !

    I've been fortunate to attend dozens of games at Lambeau over the years but this will always be one of my favorites. Nothing beats a Packers game under the lights at Lambeau in December or January. That Lovie played his starers to the end showed his respect of the rivalry and I'll always have a soft spot for him even if he is a former Bears coach.

      Your having had Rodgers and Favre consecutively has spoiled Green Bay fans, one an HOFer and the other a definite future HOFer. Cutler, compared to his contemporaries when he played, was overall a competent QB, of decent athleticism and a canon of an arm and capable of making all manner of throws, but very risk prone which resulted in great completions, but also costly interception.
      Against Green Bay he was faced against the offense of Aaron Rodgers and also in a number of cases bad defenses, though he also had stinkers of his own.

    This loss really came back to hunt the bears literally!!! I was saying to myself the bears should’ve laid them out that last game . They tried they played all their starters in a meaningless game but it didn’t matter. The bears defense was exceptional. They only gave up 14 points I believe. Cutler and the Offense gave them nothing. Everyone knew the Packers were the most dangerous team going into the playoffs that year with Aaron Rodgers and that defense. The Bears didn’t take them out and the Packers took them out . That usually what happens.

    The Packers-Bears rivalry has been, no it IS the BEST RIVALRY in sports! Both teams have a historic history. Both teams have legendary players. Gale Sayers, Walter Payton, Mike Singletary, Dick Butkis, hell the entire 1985 defense was incredibly talented and tough as nails! I've been a Packers fan since I was a kid. Born in the late 60's, 1967 to be exact, I never got to see any of the Lombardi teams. I remember John Brockington, Lynn Dickey, Randy White, David Whitehurst, and others. We weren't exactly a great team when I became a fan, but I loved football, ALL FOOTBALL and great rivalry games were always the best to watch. The divisional rivalries like the Redskins-Cowboys, the Steelers-Browns, the Raiders-Chargers, actually the Raiders vs. Anybody. Everyone hated the Raiders...lol, including me since I loved the Chargers, Dan Fouts and Air-Coryell. (Hope I didn't misspell any names, if I did I apologize.) But whenever the Bears and the Packers played, the top announcers always got the game. Their records at the time were irrelevant, BUT if it was for say the division title, or a playoff spot on the line, then the game hit epic levels! These were just two of the best all-time rivals ever! The Packers and the Bears! They may not like each other, BUT there is a RESPECT that both team's players have for each other, and for this rivalry! As a fan of NFL Football I also have a great respect for all of rhe teams, but more so with our biggest rivals. The Bears🐻, the Vikings🛡, and the Lions.🦁 Each one can defeat on of the others at any time, any year, or any game! Being a fan, when these games are on you KNOW without a Shadow of a Doubt your in for intensity, brutality, and bone popping hits! The NFC North, previously the "Central" division, is called the Black n' Blue division and it IS just that! But damn they are always the best games of the year!

    It’s sad because if the bears win this game, Packers are out . Bears probably would’ve went on the same run the Packers went on. Think back on it . Even with Cutler that defense would’ve been good enough to get them through anyone in the NFC. Look at the teams the Packers beat. besides the bears Lol!!!Eagles they were the toughest but I think the bears could’ve went through them with Michael Vick , Falcons Falcons would’ve had home field advantage but Falcons weren’t that strong I believe bears could’ve gotten through them, and Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl Big Ben would’ve been rough but maybe they win a defensive struggle. There are no “ what if’s” in life but I believe the Packers were the only team that had everything that playoffs in 2010 even with half of their team out and were trouble for the bears so it’s nice to imagine as a bears fan .

  • @Phinal_Flash
    @Phinal_Flash Před 6 lety +4

    Even though I hated the Bears back then, I kind of felt bad for their fans after the 2010 season. They had a chance to eliminate Green Bay in Week 17. Only to lose then and get beat by them again in the NFC title game.

    Oh I remember this game. The difference between losing and winning this game was the time out that was called by Lovie Smith when the Bears got the first down before the snap Just imagine if Lovie Smith didn't call the time out, what could of happened. Maybe Bears score tie the game, go to OT and win or win on their last drive and win 13-10. Packers would of been eliminated, completely different playoffs.

    • @survivor5044
      @survivor5044 Před 6 lety +2

      I'm watching the game now and Lovie Smith calls a timeout prior to the snap. Jay Cutler completed a pass to Chester Taylor for a 1st down on 3rd & 15. This would have put the ball on the Packers 40, but they took a timeout for some unexplained reason. Like you said, it's the difference between losing and winning this game. All I can do is shake my head in disbelief.

    • @osurocks24
      @osurocks24 Před 6 lety +1

      Richard Waldrup I know. And as Bears fan, I was like dying. This why Lovie Smith does not have a super bowl and got fired two years later. Good coach up until crunch time and then makes bonehead decisions. My goodness that and the playoff game I think he the same thing as well. Not like this situation but very similar. But you got admit if Lovie Smith didn't call that timeout. The whole playoffs would be different. Giants I know would have made it instead of GB and probably been out the first week because they were struggling as of late after the New Microlands Miracle and probably would of been Philly vs Bears in the NFC championship game. Would of been big difference. And the Eagles and the Giants would faced each other again in the wild card game coming off that Miracle in the Meadowlands a few weeks ago. That would been an interesting matchup!

    • @survivor5044
      @survivor5044 Před 6 lety +1

      For all I know the Bears had 3 downs, maybe 4 to at least get in field goal position. I admitted to them being at the Packers 40, to make a point of what may have happened. Maybe Cutler blows it for the Bears and maybe he doesn't. I didn't say they would have won, had Lovie Smith not called timeout, but it hurt their chances of scoring. I'm entitled to my opinion, just like you at the end of the day. #Peace

    • @addster124
      @addster124 Před 11 měsíci

      They weren't going to win even with the timeout situation. Cutler threw a redzone pick after his defense picked off rodgers. He threw a pick late in the red zone down 10-3. Even if they scored somehow in that drive to make it 10-10, what confidence would anyone have on him leading field goal drive in ot given how he's looked ?

Eli barley got in playoffs one season with 10 wins and other season with 9 wins and winning 4 straight playoff games included Superbowl game and Eli did it twice. and beating 2007 18-0 pats and beating 2011 15-1 packers,
