  • I'd love to know the history of this machine. Royal's standard typewriters -- this one is a direct descendant of the famous KMM -- were built to be beasts of typing burden in office environments where they were sometimes cranking out copy all day, all week. Oddly, this one seems to have seen hardly any use at all. It had an issue with the right margin which was easily corrected, but this might have been the disabling problem that set this typewriter aside for decades. We'll never know, but this is the best, most nearly-new, example of the FPP I've ever come across.

Oh no. I may have to get this one. What shape is the platen in? 10 CPI?

All the rubber is beautiful, from the feet underneath to the platen on top. This is a formidable typing machine. The second P in the FPP designation stands for pica, 10 CPI. The initial FP stands for the initials of the Royal company president, Fortune Peter Ryan.
