The koureisha mark is technically optional, since there's no punishment for failing to use one. As for the different two shapes, the teardrop one is the first design from 1997, then in 2011 they changed it to the 4 leaf clover looking shape cause people likened the original design to a dried up old leaf.

Very satisfied customer here - Pacific Coast sent the owner's manual on ahead and it had all of the shaken reports since new. Between that and their pre-shipping inspection I had parts ready on arrival, and I'm up and driving already five days from pick-up at the port. It gets 100+ smiles per gallon.

Any chance of a walk around of the brown Toyota in the background? That looked cool.

I was still watching at 12 minutes Derek! :P
Love these things....have thought about importing a kei van or kei truck here to Nova Scotia. Parts would be harder to get, but would one make a year-round daily driver, or would the sale on the roads here kill them in a hurry even if I got one rust-proofed annually...?

      @@PacificCoastAuto Haha, thanks! :P
Surprised to hear Sambars are maybe a slightly worse choice - I'd read somewhere that Sambars had an easier time at the more common higher speeds in North America due to being 4-cylinder than the 3-cyl Suzukis, Hondas and Daihatsus do?
