Every time a Bill Allan video drops its like Christmas 😁
Aww, thanks Bruce. It makes me feel very honored to know that the stuff we make is enjoyed by folks.
Oh man, I was worried Bane was a goner there for a moment...
Also diggin' that battle music during the 'blob' fight in the end. Good show, guys! 👍
Thanks my friend. Glad you're enjoying the season.
Hi Bill. I wanted to ask you about minis and models for D&D. I've been thinking of perhaps running a D&D game for my friends son and a few of his buddies. I'm thinking of using 2.5 edition since I have a lot of AD&D 2nd edition boxsets etc, and use the 2.5 advance rules from Combat & Tactic's and Spells & Magic to adjust the classes to be reasonably like 5th edition classes to a degree. Anyway I have two board games. The original Heroquest from decades back, and the 3rd edition D&D board game from 2003, so I have some things I could use. I was just wondering if you could recommend some things that could go with those without breaking the bank (I've never actually used minis in a D&D game before).
So, I will happily tell you that I have a huge variety of minis, some of them stretching back to the 1970s (25mm scale), some of the older 28mm scale, some newer 28mm scale, and some 30mm scale. Here's the key thing to know/remember: your kids or even adult groups won't care if the scale is slightly off. Unless you are wargaming or making a diorama, scale isn't that important. So, mix and match, use whatever you have, and don't worry about slight differences in the scale between minis. Use it all and just have fun!
Now then, onto the options: the cheapest minis I have found were bought off of eBay. They were from the old MageKnight game. That's probably your best bet for bulk minis on the cheaper side. Otherwise, I think the unpainted Reaper minis aren't too shabby and not too expensive.
Now, if you have a friend with a 3d printer, that might change the whole game. Then you could just print minis for free.
Also, Wildspire (search Amazon or eBay) makes big boxes of minis. You have to assemble and paint them, but they are very affordable (something like $50 for 68 miniatures).
Good luck my friend and happy gaming!
I'm sorry Marie, there are not over a thousand bones in the human body, there are in fact 206 bones in a human body. I'm not trying to be a mister know it all, but this information was 'wildly' inaccurate. Only complete Nerds like me will even notice this. (not a criticism, just a correction)😊
I hope that post isn't viewed in a negative way. I really enjoy this series, but I'm a little bit OCD when I see things that I know to be inaccurate. I want you all to know that I think you're doing a great job I this campaign.
I get that, as a HEMA and historical weapons nerd.
I don't see your comment as hateful or negative in any fashion.
All good Aaron!
