    Bad ass David . I have lost many battles over the last 20 years with pulling a sunken leaf covered tarp off my pool. This is amazingly brilliant

    made one - huge pain - now considering a different plan this fall - something that doesn't require the tension

    My problem is the raccoons, which are having way too much fun in my pool. God knows what they are doing in there. Been using hot cayenne pepper and cider vinegar, and wanted to get a little further with repelling these buggers. Thank you for this very helpful tutorial.

    Wow. Never thought of using that pvc T like that. I'm impressed. I'll do it

    Can you give a supply list of what you bought

    I made one based on this but now the pvc is breaking. How long are your sections? How much longer than the width are the sections.

      Good deal. I had a problem at the end of the year when my 75lb dog decided to climb on top of it. My pool is inground but has aluminum wall that can expand a bit. Well.. the frame inverted on me. You may want to move up to 1"-1/2" if you haven't already bought your material. I am going to use the same frame work after this season, but shore it up a bit so the dog or a lot of snow will hold up. I have figured out how to do that yet, but will come up with something. Good luck!

    David, Impressed by your design. I have begun to construct a frame for my "Moutain Lake" shaped pool. Its slow going as my pool is not square/rectangular! How long over the egde of the pool did you allow to get the frame to rise in the center? And did you use 1" cut T's to grip the edge of the pool or 1" x 1 1/2"?

    Did a project with same idea with 2 inch pvc. I live in the Midwest. The weight on the snow caused it to collapse. The height in the middle was 5 feet. Pvc is not rigid enough , as I found out.. but worth a try.

      @daveck19  Před 6 lety

      Yeah.. I use a roof rake after a heavy snowfall to clear some of it off. Sorry it didn't work out.

    Thanks for posting. How'd it do with snow, if you had any?

    • @daveck19
      @daveck19  Před 7 lety +1

      I used a roof fake before the snow piled up too much. If I were to rebuild it, I'd use 1-1/2" pvc instead of 1"

    Looked a long time to find something like that with PVC. Thanks. Just have a question about the "tarp". Have a problem finding polyethylene sheeting in large sizes and calculating what size to get. Where did you get your tarp? What size is it?

    • @daveck19
      @daveck19  Před 7 lety +1

      My tarp is a 20' x 40' I believe. Check out Home Depot in the paint section. If your pool is bigger that mine (16 x 32) upgrade to the 1/1-2" or 2" PVC. Buy one section and test out the flexibility before buying it all.

    • @1doncomp
      @1doncomp Před 7 lety

      Thanks. Mine is about the same, but kidney shaped. Wanted to make a canopy-type cover, but 20' wide tarp or sheeting not wide enough.... unless, I build two-piece that would separate on warm days...Thanks again.

    I assume you had to get in the pool when you installed it.

      No. But it was a pain in the ass with two people.

    • @bgrimjr
      @bgrimjr Před 4 lety

      @@daveck19 I finished my frame but experienced the same "pain in the ass." I have been unable to overcome the problem of getting the frame to rise in the center. The weight of the 1" schedule 40 PVC is the problem. With 2 adult men pushing against on each side and the weight???it would take a third person actually in the pool to push the center up? I am unable to create the arch in the middle of the frame as its centered over the pool with two people? I would be eternally grateful for any input on how to accomplished this?

    • @daveck19
      @daveck19  Před 4 lety +1

      @@bgrimjr Hi. I put mine up with my wife and it was a pain in the ass. Are the cross tubes a bit too long? One thing that helped when I put mine up was to run a rope across the pool to help hold up the center. If you don't have anything to tie it to, a couple of additional people might do the trick? Sorry you having a hard time.

    I'm looking to do this for my inground pool. How has yours been holding up?

    • @daveck19
      @daveck19  Před 4 lety +2

      In hind sight I would have gone with 1-1/2 PVC. And it's held up well with the weather. But not so well when an 80 dog decides to walk on it. Good luck.
