Hello, my name is Jim, and I live on the west coast of BC Canada. I am sure there is nothing original I can add to the comments, but I will say this. I am 72 years old, and took up back country riding and camping about 4 and a half years ago. I ride a Suzuki DR 650, and after watching Noraly's ride through Alaska and the Youkon, it inspired me to do just that. I rode from Vancouver BC to Tuktoyuktuk NWT and back, taking as many dirt roads as possible in the time frame I had. I was gone 40 days, camped 30 nights widerness camping, and rode 11000 kms. Noraly was the inspiration to do this, and she has my utmost respect and gratitude for demonstrating the courage to step outside ones comfort zone. Next year my younger brother Mark and myself will truck our bikes to Yuma AZ and then ride Copper canyon MX. Thank you again Noraly for the inspiration. From all of us you inspire, we wish you a speedy and complete recovery.

No surprise for me. After a urological surgery I could not lift one of my arms for over 2 years: Wrong bedding from the surgical table to the gurney, nerve pinched in the cervical vertebra area most probably as my head was not supported properly still being with anesthesia. No help afterwards. Only almost daily swimming in a heated outdoor pool helped finally after having tried docs and physiotherapists for over a year unsuccessfully. Lucky not to have caught multi-resistant hospital germs aka MRSA. If you want to stay healthy, better stay away from hospitals, if possible of course.

Yes I agree.....Honestly I have been riding my whole life. And there is a rule we have always had. For good reasons. NEVER RIDE BY YOURSELF......always ride at least in pairs. Because ANYTHING can happen. Not to be disrespectful or a downer to the channel But Even with my experience riding motorcycles more than 45 years. I would never Try any of this. Simply because of the risk of the most simple thing happening that could put you off the bike, Break downs, So many things that could take your life. if it was me I would recruit riders to ride a leg with me to make a safer trip. I really like your channel, I have been watching you since about 200k subs and I would like to see you live a long life. Please listen when I say this. Get a partner......or post your planned rides on your website and recruit riders to ride a leg with you. Even if you want them to ride behind a bit.....It is for your safety. PLEASE.....

screw it up, damage your lung, and not notice what they'd done. You might have been better off if you'd had the surgery in Tanzania. But that's water under the bridge. Heal up, rest,
and take care of yourself. I look forward to season 8, to an English translation of your book,

On a motorcycle trip to Alaska in 2008 I blew up the engine just south of the Yukon Territory line. A really nice couple stopped and gave me a ride (about 10 miles) to the nearest truck stop. From there 3 truckers helped me go back to get the motorcycle, bring it back to the truck stop. There it got loaded on the back of one driver’s Kenworth and hauled me and the bike to Anchorage (1,000 miles?). I got dropped off there and 3 days later the same trucker (who had made a run to Fairbanks) picked me up and decided he would give me a ride back to Great Falls, MT (where my trip started). 2,495 miles back. The difference between Europe and Africa: i crashed in the middle of the night in Belgium and got stuck under my bike for half an hour. Three cars passed, nobody stopped or called for help. Finally i had to force my broken hand under the bike into my pocket to get my phone and call the police (they were there in about just five minutes!). People in Europe will let you die on the side of the road. In Africa they will cancel their whole day to help you. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery! :)

She might have been better off having surgery in Africa. Having lived in both Southern Germany and the Southern US (Texas) this is what so many Americans with the "grass is always greener" complex just refuse to accept, that the healthcare in much of Europe is absolutely abysmal. I was neglected in a Germany hospital with four people per room separated by a curtain, nurses would take an hour to come after alerted and then apologize they are understaffed, and the amount of mistakes and lack of funding are so apparent. Then I was in Texas which I had heard was horrible for healthcare and I was treated like a queen in the most amazing facilities and staff and with my own private room that was so clean and modern.

I have experience from 2 countries, Slovenia and Denmark.
In Denmark we have free healthcare but its worse than you would expect, and they dont care about you, many people have died for this reason, sending people home without proper evaluation. I can write a book about it. Its so sad.
