What I like about her is that in every video, when she talk about differencies, she compliment everyone with a calm, soft, voice. It's so relaxing and she can boost your self esteem in no time! She make you appreciate not only your own features but even other's, everyone's. It's a very positive approach, she's so gentle and it's almost like she's making you crave for gentleness...am I the only one who feel it?

I am an SG and tried curtain bangs, but my hair is curly, so I had to heat style it to maintain them. Once I figured out how to style my curls, I didn’t know what to do with my hair for my body type. I currently have a shag haircut with forward bangs and I do like it!

Me too I wish I knew what was best. At least I know bob is the best but I still wanna know if a more gamine one can lok good if it's done in the right way and what kind of Bob to get. And what about those in between bob and pixie cuts that a lot of Japanese girls have.
Hi ! From what I’ve seen the hair for SG should be short, layered and tousled. Not super cropped, can be longer but very stylized. For bangs I think the length is up to you and the rest of your face. I think if you go for long bangs or straight bangs you should make them wispy and light or in a curtain bangs style so we can still see your forehead. Side swept is good as asymmetrical cut. Probably style them in a more rounded shape and she insists on the tousled effect. In my opinion short curly bangs can be really nice on a SG. Hope it help a little.

I finally figured out I'm some type of G (not sure yet, I just know I'm not a SC like I originally thought) and it feels good to resonate with so many of the things you mentioned in this video. Heavy bangs, long hair, and styles in my face make me look so bad and drag me down. Shorter styles that open up my face and have movement suit me so much more and bring out the mix of my facial features. :)
Loved thus video, been waiting for it for ages! Kinda wish it was longer though.. I've been growing my hair long for the past four years and now slowly realising I like way better in a Bob or pixie. I'm loving Audrey tatous haircuts! I can't cut my hair yet though cuz I'm too attached. My hair doesn't suit me at all since I have thick natural hair. So I've worked out ways of making gamine hairstyles on my hair. I've got curly curtain bangs that frame my face and I mostly wear it in a high bun. If I want my hair out the best way is to clip up the front pieces that drag me down. It suits my gamine shale so much better because it mirrors my long narrow body. Plus I get these cute curls coming out everywhere. Also french braids looks great cuz they show off my fine bone structure without overwhelming it. I think the worst haircuts are thick frizzy curly hanging round the face and ponytails in general. I can't wait until I'm ready to chop it all off again but meanwhile gonna enjoy some mermaid styles!
So happy with this, TY so much! I'm a gamine and I now have a tousled bob with a short but heavy fringe, works for me! I've tried Audrey Tatou's bob with the short fringe, but I need tousledness or layers on the side, not sleek. But with that tousledness I need that heavy fringe or it will look too whispy and tired on me!

They look good if it's curly or tousled, has volume and not hiding the face
I agree I think FG look good as long as their faces arent hidden and the hair has some kind of energy. Not a still calm look. Fluffy, toussled, choppy, long and curly or in a messy updo (Amy's beehive is perfect). FGs look not as good in soft styles like beachy waves, or just plain straight and flat, if its too sleek or symmetrical it can look strict and boring.

Aly- Will you please do a video for hairstyles for Dramatics. Also a separate question- I have always worn my hair very short in messy pixies to outright boycuts. Long hair looks awful on me. The longest I like it is jaw hinge length, not even chin length. Still needs some messiness and airy bangs even better back off my face on the sides. To me that sounds like I am describing a Gamine haircut but I am 5’10” and a Dramatic. How can I look best in Gamine hair with a Dramatic body?

I think it's easy for fine straight or straight hair to have geometrically sculpted hair look. I have wavy hair it doesn't remain sculpted naturally. I am in awe of few pixie cuts. So maybe i should go for it.

Im SG, my mother used to cut me short hair with bevelled bangs when i was a child and it made my face look very chubby and it does the same for me now. I looked really good in the elongated bob cut. However keeping up with short hair is exhausting and expensive, especially if you have very thick , unruly hair. I also look great in long volumed ,curly , wavy or bevelled hair . I thought the girl at the end looked great in the hair styles you mentioned, but to me she looked her best in the curly longer hair.

I am soft gamine (diagnosed as ingenue on house of colour system) but my hair are thick,lot, and not straight at all. I did the bob haircut but I had problem with the too much hair not straight...help!🙄

@@eperke2933 Over a year ago, I wrote her an email. She was so unbelievably kind! She wrote back to me and asked to to share with her photos of myself in varies settings and then told me she thought I was gamine.
I went over the body type series again, and indeed I am pure gamine. Funny thing, I was inherently drawn to pure gamine styles, way before I discovered Aly's channel, so it made perfect sense. :)

I’m a SG/FG mix (would that just be gamine?) and bangs are really bringing out my eyes. People always say I look like Indian Penelope Cruz and like her I have thick hair so long hair looks good but not good when it’s too long or it drags my face down

Im glad you ended up going platinum. You can basically rock any color but this one seem to age you a bit.
Bangs also depends on face shape. Square faces are tricky when it comes to trying to pull off bangs. I have a square face and yet I’m a gamine (not sure which one). It is DIFFICULT for me to pull off bangs. They weigh down my facial features.
If you go shorter it might open up your face more.
It is so hard for me to figure out what my body type is, I´ve watched your videos about body types, and I did the test, it said I was natural (I kinda... agree but I wasn´t sure enough) then I saw another of your videos and now I´m confused because of the height, I´m 1.59 m; not as tall as naturals should be I guess?
Today I saw your video about gamines, chubby cheeks even I´m not overweight, my height... The only thing that doesn´t convince me are my wide shoulders.

Hi there! I think when Aly talks about the height, it has more to do on whether you look your height or not. I, for an example, have a pretty average height, I'm 1.64m. But whenever people see me just for my pictures, they ask if I'm tall because I look taller than I actually am.
Audrey Hepburn is another example, she was actually pretty tall for a gamine. But when you look at her pictures, she looks more petite.
So maybe take a look at pictures of yourself and see if you'd say you look taller or shorter than you actually are? Asking friends and family to take a look could also be a good option, I think.

Are head size the fastest way to determine a person is a gamine? It seems like gamines have large head for their body. I believe head size is important to the body proportion, because you could be petite but still look statuesque if you have a small head. It gives a great illusion of good body proportion.
I actually have head that is pretty proportional to my body but I still somehow look short. People usually guess my height correctly but I'm 155cm.
@@dianabaczek9416 do you ask people or do they guess your height in person? like right next to you? if not, it could be because you have narrow shoulders or could just be the face. There's certain faces that people think make someone look like they're tall or they're short. I remember one comment that said gigi hadid has a face of a short person.

I know that I am really late to this conversation, but I am a gamine (probably soft gamine) and I have a small head in comparison to my body. I've actually had people comment on it before.
The reason I am a gamine despite my small head is because of my soft, round, childish face and my rather angular, teenagish body. I also have a very long torso, which makes me look shorter.
I think a large head can be one aspect of gamine-like qualities you can take into account, but people should always remember to take all qualities into account when determining their body type. If most of your qualities are gamine, then you are probably a gamine.

Their features are highly elevated by short hair. But what are those spesific features 🤔?
Johanna From what I have seen, 3 (4) body types pull off quite well the very short haircut : Gamine, Flamboyant Gamine, Dramatic, Soft Dramatic. Those body types have in common sharp, angular and narrow bone structure. Then I think you adjust to the body type : rounded and voluminous for the SD (because of the flesh of the body), rich, heavier and straight for D (because the bones are heavier and the flesh taut) and layered, thin, light for G (because of the delicate and light bone structure). I think the pixie hair cut works well on those body types because it’s a narrow and angular haircut, and it follows the lines of those bodies. And in my opinion, because it is short and sometimes looks quite delicate and light it repeats the bone structure of the Gamines. Also, I think it highlights very well the big eyes of the Gamines.

Aly i’m 5’8” but i’m pretty sure i’m a soft gamine. long delicate bone structure but very curvy through the torso. i would love if you could do a video to handle dressing gamine type as we get older

Maybe I am off base on this but it seems like Soft Gamine has some of the same challenges that that the Soft Classics do? Maybe for different reasons but it seems similar.

I am an FG and at first I thought I was a dramatic. My face is very dramatic and you can see almost nothing romantic in it. But what is very important to remember is the vertical line. As a FG, you will not appear to be very tall. You might have long arms and/or legs, but you will not look very lean and tall. Thighs can look a bit too heavy for your body, especially if you are a bit over weight (I am actually close to being underweight and I still see it). You can have squarish shoulders, really pointy.
As soon as I remembered the vertical line, I could tell immediately I was a FG. Some „romantic“ parts on your face don’t have to be very rounded and big like big eyes or lips. They can show the softness in petiteness, like a small mouth like Emma Watson.
Also, if you thought you were a gamine, and you have pretty squarish bone structure (jaw line, cheekbones etc), the chances are pretty high you are a FG.

i think im soft gamine, but my nose isnt small and cute. Im a filipino, it is wide although i can still pull off the cute vibes, and I can relate to all of soft gamines characteristics, aside from the nose part.
Sometimes the nose shape doesn't have to be specific. For example, my nose is upturned, but also slightly wide and still, I look very soft gamine-ish. It doesn't matter if one thing doesn't match, rather, think about the whole picture rather than focusing on that. Facial features aren't always the same from person to person, and differences should always be celebrated.
