  • Thailand is called the Land of the Smiles for good reason: the Thais smile easy and often! It reminds me of Africans or Latin Americans.
However, how sincere is that smile? As I wrapped up my Thailand tour, I reflected on that question.

Smiling in Thailand is another nice way of saying Hi and making a connection. Most Thai people would respond positively and genuinely with a smile. A false smile is likely due to hidden tension but is a way to keep the connection going and open room for reconciliation. Whichever way it is, smiling makes us humans feel happier from the inside out and don't feel that we need to shut ourselves out from people :)

Thai here. We smile because it make us look friendly for else shatter and if you are customer of course you will get are smiles because it part of service mind we trained for generation.
If you're looking for pure heart friendly smile it depends on people you talking to and also your own behavior. If you do good to Thai people they might or might not do good back but if you shit to them i guarantee you will get beat up for sure.

The Thai are more religious than most. They smile at another human because all living things are respected.

Why is youtube, a well known notorious enemy of free speech, blocking and deleting replies to this comment.
