My friend, I love your lap without the top, the taped together wires, and the cardboard box with a fan and antenna cut out 😂 This is what good salvage projects look like, using what you have and making it work. I mean this genuinely, stuff like what you're doing here in this video is going to become more and more important over the next few decades. It's becoming less and less likely that we'll be able to rely to on our governments and big corporations to provide the technological services we need, and hobbyists like yourself (and hopefully me as well, soon) will be the ones to lead the way.

Yeah i agree hacking interms of stuff like is an importsnt skill and i say keep up to help deploy a network if your nabors dont have internet. Rigjt now i hate paying 60$ for 200mb service if the nabors all threwn in we could all have faster internet for way cheeper. But you know if the isp gets wind im sure they have rules to prevent us from doing exactly that,

May have been stated in the video, and I missed it. But what is the range of this? Does that depend on your router? Like how far am I going to be able to reach the people within the network that I'm trying to build?

Simple question, i have a old Nokia 3310 who works on 2G.
There are still providers available here, Vodafon and Kpn.
I have a sim in the Nokia 3310 for Kpn and it works fine.
But if i want to make a 2G network, how do i program a sim card to use my own network?
Otherwise other phones can connect with my network.

    • @laptopfm

You can use any old sim you have just go on the manual network selection and pick your network.

I like the broken latop used as a server my style totally everone wants reasberry pies but with those u dont even get a case while most out of date laptops are faster have a built in hard drive and UPS if the battery still works. Its also easy to disable the auto sleep when you close the lid not sure why yours was powering off randomly one thing to note is most laptops have a reed switch which gets engaged when a small magnet smwhere in the lid gets close to the closed position . So keep magnets away or nano /etc/systemd/logind.conf. also keep the webcams out of the lids they can soldered to a normal usb cable.

I think it was the phone and the transmitter being close to the sensor that somehow triggered it.
