#iowahawkeyes #collegebasketball #caitlinclark - Sport
I am a buckeye from Ohio and I was sitting courtside for this unbelievable game cheering on the Hawkeyes and Caitlin Clark. The Iowa game crowd was fantastic but I have a feeling I wasn’t the only non Iowa , Caitlin Clark/Hawkeye fan out there. This team is so much fun to watch and it was a thrill to see Caitlin up close doing her thing. She is must see tv for sure and the ratings reflect the effect she is having on the growing popularity of women’s basketball. Go Hawks ! Go Caitlin !!!
I completely agree, as a very busy, very disillusioned fan of team sports, it was a real joy to find out about the collegiate women's basketball game, the garbage In team sports today made it unwatchable for me , however, I'm now a huge fan of the Hawkeyes and collegiate women's basketball, the excellent fundamentals, the competitive games, the joy the ladies play with, is very inspiring for an old cynical guy , the character of the Hawkeyes' program really set the hook in me, I was researching the program when I started following them, the way they stood behind the Kansas player that lost her dad a couple of years ago was it for me , " she made a commitment to us, we are going to keep our commitment to her" (Lisa Bluder) , in a world of-it's just business attitude, that was very impressive to me, I also keep up with other big ten teams now too, the Buckeye program is great, Indiana, ect , sorry for the essay, but I raised 2 daughters who are competitive equine professionals now , I was the dad that 4 or 5 of my daughters friends still call dad , I guess I have always had a soft spot for seeing young women succeed and thrive , they all did well , my daughter chuckles at my fan boy towards the women's basketball game, I'm an old has been who now looks forward to seeing the game, 😂
Very cool of you to say so. I grew up in Iowa in the 70s and 80s; graduated from U of I in '93. I can tell you that their athletics department has a long history of disappointing their fans and/or not giving them anything to get excited about in the first place. With that said, we have to savor and enjoy every moment of the Caitlin Clark era that we can. My wife and I went to see her in the Ally Tipoff on November 9 in Charlotte, NC. We were surrounded by Virginia Tech fans, and they said pretty much the same thing as you. They told us, "We are here to support out team and cheer for Virginia Tech, but even so, we love watching Caitlin Clark." She's just a class act. Her individual skills are outstanding, but she always - ALWAYS - gives credit to her teammates in every interview she does, including the one a week or two ago on Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli.
A couple of weeks ago, they had a game at the University of Northern Iowa. It was the first time ever in the history of the UNI women's basketball that they had a sellout crowd. Pretty cool when she packs the house for the other team. She is good for women's college basketball in general...and a breath of fresh air for Iowa fans!
Kudos on your bravery for saying this in a public forum. :)
Caitlin has a "coach" mindset. Perhaps that's her special sauce. She is so articulate about every aspect of the court. Amazing talent!
Agreed. Fans/social media don't talk much about it, but the WNBA players/GMs point to her high IQ. The Ohio St. coach also mentioned last year that her understanding of the game and knowing the right pass every time was part of what separated her.
I love these kids they are great examples of sportsman ship and class . Their parents should be extremely proud of them. Lisa and her coaches are exceptional. I look forward to seeing every game game they playing ! This is how you raise kids ! No disrespect to your opponent. All you see is disrespect at every level of basketball and how it's taken center stage by the media . Bravo Iowa hawkeyes!
Coach Lisa Bluder said something that caught my ear during the post press conference after Iowa beat Kansas State at the Florida Gulf Coast Showcase clinching the championship. She said, "People are looking for something positive out there today. There's a lot of junk going around in this world, and people want something positive, and our team provides that for people." Lisa Bluder is absolutely right. I feel nothing but positive vibes whenever I watch this team play ball. They are really great role models. They have given a lot of people inspiration to move forward in life, and get back up. A lot of people out here been down in the dumps for so long, and this team has inspired us to get back up out the dump.🙂
Great win, Molly doing so well driving to hoop, Gabbie playing her great defense, seems this team improving as theybgo along, K St. very good team, good win for Hawks against legit team.
Molly is amazing
I was critical on Molly Davis initially of how affective she could be. She was indeed instrumental in the win. Attacking the basket with speed with layups and hitting baseline open shots.
Molly acting like she rather be the quiet girl in the back wishing she wasnt there. Go Molly!
She has had an excellent start to this season. Last year she didn’t shoot that much, but this year she’s taking more shots are getting them to fall. And how about her rebounding and passing?
@@williamfragaszy6016 yeah and shes so fast on fast breaks and loose balls!
Great team effort by the the Hawkeyes. Never give up attitude....
Molly is playing very good. I still think this team is going to need Gabby Marshall to play better or use your other options.
Molly doesn't say much, she just sets a standard. TO THE HOLE
We really need bigs to stay out of foul trouble and be strong under the basket
She will come around. She is vital defensively, but I agree that her 3-point shot is important in March.
I will always like Gabby & her style, the best defender on the team. However, Gabby is a 5th year senior & should be kicking some butt offensively each game , IMHO.
@@user-xf4mx5wn8s She should, but as a "sharp-shooter," inconsistency has little to do with age/experience. Players at all levels (and levels of experience) go through hot/cold spells.
Congrats on a great Tournament Molly !! PS: It was very rude that no questions were directed to you.
Thank you Caitlin for staying home! We love you!!! Go HAWKEYES!!!
Congrats on getting revenge on KSU.
Caitlin Clark to repeat as player of the year?
Hard to place South Carolina, Iowa and Stanford in any order.
All 3 doing very well.
Why is that CC seems to always keep scratching her legs during interviews?
It's widely known that she has cooties, so probably pretty itchy.
They itch.
Gotta scratch where it itches. As Hayden used to say!!! Remember? :)
@YouMoreBestMed5737, Why does it matter?
She does it during sideline interview directly after games too...sounds like a nervous habit to be...maybe she doesn't like interviews as much as people think?
i know when I played, it is uncomfortable when all that sweat dries, and you already have dry skin.
Molly wondering why she's there.
She was named all tournament. Deserved to be there.
It was very rude that no questions were directed to her. I agree, she was on the all Tournament team, she belonged there.
She has too play McCabe more great outside shooter goes 6 for 7 3s game before only 3 minutes in this one why.
Her defense isn't to the level of Gabbie kate and molly yet and they are going to play those three with caitlin and whatever posts have fouls left
@@akhgmg2013 Yeah, still a work in process, room to grow, will get there, great future.
Taylor McCabe's minutes were a absolute travesty... Coach Bluder do you realize she made 5 out of 6 three point shots the game before !!! If Gabby gives us almost no output Coach Bluder better wake up and realize you have other options !! Sitting on the bench for awhile might be the best medicine to wake Gabby up from her hibernation.
Gabbie and Molly are great defenders they aren't coming off the floor especially in crunch time both shoot free throws really well too you can't take their experience off the floor
@@akhgmg2013 not to mention that while Taylor is a great shooter, her primary minutes come against reserves in late-game situations.
I agree and the huge difference between Gabby and Molly is Molly will take the ball to the basket.
Caitlin is a bully.
