  • @JayGaulard

    I once owned a 1980 Volkswagen Rabbit diesel that I was able to drive for about 5 minutes before it would go dead, just like your tractor. Watching this video reminded me of my old car so much. I tried to fix that car for about a month, to no avail. I even swapped out the entire injector to see if that was the problem. It wasn't. I had no idea what was wrong. One day, my father asked me to listen for the sound of bubbles in the fuel tank, right after the car shut off. I drove it, it shut off, and I listened for the bubbles. I actually heard them. I told my father and he informed me that the "in tank" fuel filter was clogged. What was happening was, as the injector sucked the diesel fuel from the tank, a negative pressure would be created in the fuel line. The engine would burn what fuel there was in the line, but once the negative pressure was too much for the injector to pull, the car would shut off. After I waited for a few minutes, I'd be able to start the car again, no problem. To fix the issue, I pulled out the back seat and removed the small cover that was on top of the fuel tank. I used a tool that looked like a screwdriver to pull out a cylinder shaped filter that had a very fine screen on it. It was totally gummed up from all the dirty diesel fuel the car used through the years. I used a turkey baster to suck out all the dirt that settled down at the bottom of the tank and I cleaned the filter. Apparently, it was allowing just enough fuel through to let the car run for only a few minutes. After I cleaned that filter, I never had a problem again.

    In the spirit of goodwill toward a customer who has stated several times he really likes the tractor but doesn't like the problem, I believe it would benefit LS greatly (at least among farmers and homesteaders) to replace the current tractor with a new one and put customer satisfaction above the $$$ for a change.

  • @edmeeks6066
    @edmeeks6066 Před 5 lety +17

    Unlike previous generation engines these engines will not tolerate running at low RPM for work Duty Cycles. In order for the regen system to work properly these engines have to be ran at a high RPMs with a definite load on the engine in order to create higher temperatures for the engine regen system to work properly. In other words no Putt-Putt around the homestead. Keep engine RPM up high, and if ground speed is too fast choose a lower gear.

  • @THEjasonTDI
    @THEjasonTDI Před 5 lety +1

    As the owner of a German Diesel shop I can see a few things. One, the DPF is trying to regen, You need to let it do its thing. Not turn the RPM down or shut it off. Next, fuel tank is chronically low. Why? It's horribly bad for it. That can starve the high pressure fuel pump and injectors, damaging them. If you run these modern common rail systems out of fuel a few times you will destroy them. Check the fuel filter for plugging. Also look for shiny metal. That's the pump coming apart. The only solution for this is to replace everything and clean the tank and lines of the debris. The fuel rail screen can plug and cause the stalling, too. I don't know what filter system they use but I'd be putting a remote 2 micron system on it without a doubt. It's clearly stalling when it demands more fuel and loads up.

    Please forgive if this has already been covered: Appears to me that, at Regen, the tractor is not being run at 2000 RPM which, I believe, is the required R's to bring the engine up to sufficient temperature for the Regen function to operate. It is also apparent that the machine is generally run at VERY low RPM (basically, the Turtle setting on the hand throttle control), hence engine is trying to run cold. Obviously, this comment only covers a part of what you are dealing with. That said, you first need t be able to keep the tractor engine running at top efficiency of all the rest doesn't matter.

Also check the main starting switch. The switch on the seat that keeps the tractor running when you are sitting on it , but also turns tractor off if you leave the seat can cause the problem . Also a newholand service tech may be able to help with ideas .

    Danny thanks for being transparent and your willingness to share your struggles with this particular tractor. I own a 4wd 32 horse Cub Cadet/Yanmar with front end loader...basically a rebadged John Deere. The tractor is a little smaller than I like an sometimes just doesn't have the ooomph that I need. However, it does well for what it is designed to do. With all of that being said I was contemplating making a purchase of a larger tractor and you guess it....LS was the manufacturer I was looking at. Some of what was guiding me in that direction was the fact you had chosen one. Now that you have shared all of these negative but very honest reviews I have completely put LS out of the running for a future purchase. By listening to the engine at periodic rpm's, through out the video, it seems to me it could be a bad injection pump. It knocks and raps like it starves for fuel. Injection pumps tend to be very expensive to rebuild or replace. Also after this much time the injectors, most likely, have been damaged. That would explain why you would always get it back in an un-usable condition.

After downloading the patch and installing it to the tractors CPU we ran it through several forced regens with no issue.....). On the hunt for my 3rd tractor, checked out ls today after owning 2 kubota's. I couldn't get to the kubota dealer fast enough. $8000 dollar difference between a 35hp ls and kubotas grand l3560 and worth every penny. I will be buying the grand l3560. You are definitely a patient individual, at least in your video's. I hope everything worked out for you.

    I have the same tractor. Like it for all the same reasons you pointed out, PLUS it is so much more heavy duty then others I've looked at, and I'm a Deere guy. But also had the same problems you are having, exactly. Found out a couple things is the grounds at the battery to chassis and another ground under the dash by the fuse block had paint under them. Cleaned just like someone before me said. The stalling was fixed unless it went to long to regen. Then twice to the dealer and it turned out we just were not doing the regen correctly and long enough. If it shuts off or is shut off in the middle of a regen it may fault and needs to continue to regen when started again. Best to get the rpm to 2k and let it run, get an iced tea and a cookie or two and watch it do its thing. Dealer told us about it when we bought it but I didn't think it was so critical. Worst part like most equipment now days is it has to go back to the dealer to have the code reset and clear the memory. Like some before me said, keep the rpm up when using it in lower gears and it will regen less, but let it completely regen. Also there is a switch to cancel regen like when you cannot let it or hit two switches at once to make it regen such as at the end of a day so it can do it hot. Since we have done the correct order of regen, there have been no problems. Sometimes just hit the regen when you don't need it for a cycle and before you shut it off. Hope this helps you a little. Again, I just really like everything else about this tractor.

      My thoughts also. Fuel filter "cloged" and trying to burn "rot-gut" fuel. Besides the "lift pump". SO ELEMENTARY & SO SIMPLE. This happens ALL the time!! To me NO more , because l Triple filer the fuel, Flush ALL the fuel out chasing it with fresh like once a year or when ANY problem starts.

    Wow Danny that tractor has a nice shade of blue to it. That’s about all I can say about it. That is Insane that it’s been in the shop that many times and over such a long period of time and it still has the same problems. It seems like the issue would be electrical but maybe the throttle cable is bad in some way and/or the fuel filter needs changed. I do know that on trucks with the new fuel regen this has been a problem with them too. If the regen doesn’t register with the computer it will go into limp mode or can kill the truck. Possibly a sensor as I had a pickup that left me stranded late at night on the side of the highway in the winter. It was a faulty sensor that said the exhaust was too hot and killed the engine. If you haven’t looked those error codes up in the owners manual or tried to google them I would do so. I hope you can get this resolved and if you do and end up keeping this tractor I think I would tell LS to put a new starter on it. That’s a lot of cranking on a tractor that low of hours. Good luck and I’ll see if I can leave LS an email for you.

    I'm a grain farmer in Indiana. Your videos are very interesting. I really hope you can get the tractor fixed or the bulk of your investment back. My brother (35HP) my Dad (70HP) and myself (45HP) had Three small New Holland utility tractors we used on the farm and Never had a problem over a 10 year period. Five years ago we all traded for Kubota products and are very happy with no issues. The regen on my dads tractor has worked perfect. My 5740 Kubota had 400 hrs when I traded for it and now has 1000 hrs. never had a problem. I think you would be more satisfied with a very nice low hour used pre Regen Tractor from New Holland, Kubota, John Deere or Case. Seems like the LS, Branson, Montana, Kioti, products can have some issues. I'm assume they have all made some good and some bad. The Regen is what's causing most of the problems with modern tractors. I wish you Luck.

    I had a 55 hp LS tractor. (in the thumbnail) My dealer was 125 miles away, and I was in the Colorado mountains, so it wasn't easy to to get it to them to work on. It was in the shop 4 times in the first 2 years for similar issues. They finally got it fixed after trying all sorts of things and excuses. If I remember correctly what finally fixed it was a sensor that was close to the fuel pump and may have had something to do with fuel pressure, but it has been long enough ago that I can't remember for sure.
    My life and work circumstances changed so I had to get rid of the tractor. I'm glad to be rid of it. I don't have much good to say about the tier 4 machines, LS or otherwise. I think the epa has ruined things for diesel manufacturers and consequently their patrons. I still own a 12 year old Kioti 30 hp gear drive tractor with a small back hoe. It always starts and runs and hasn't given me a lick of trouble since I bought it new. No smog crap, just the basics. Runs a long time on a tank of gas and does everything I have asked of it. Hope they will take that lemon back from you. You seem much more patient that I was.

      Kubota had and has the same issues with their 3350 model. Lots of online information about it and it still isn't fixed. It isn't a model issue so much as a Tier 4 issue.
      Running high rpms for an extended period using more fuel in order to create less emissions makes typical government sense.

  • @sctodd1
    @sctodd1 Před 2 lety

    Somewhere bad fuel is the issue, its gelled in the tank. I had a John Deere and had the same issue. I had John Deere fix it, they worked on the computer and cleaned the tank because mold was in the tank. A few months later I had the same issues again, I cleaned out the tank again. A few weeks later after running the tractor for a while it did the same thing. I believe the whole system in my tractor is contaminated. Highway fuel is better than off-road most of the time, the only difference is the dye in the fuel. Most of the time off-road fuel sets up longer at your local store than highway fuel. Low Suffer FUEL sucks now!

  • @kevindawson8277

    Dan, you have been more patient than any one person should. We pay good money for these work machines, expecting them to work when needed. But technology is not our friend anymore, especially with computers at the heart. Tractors at one time (pre-computer) were reliable, hardworking machines that would last a lifetime, especially if regularly maintained. This LS XR3135 from what I see, appears to be a good tractor mechanically, but has a "Lemon" computer. LS should have replaced the computer after their second visit. If problems reoccurred, a new XR3135 should have been offered, or money back. Now you have two major problems, one, it's unreliable, two, LS or LS dealer is showing they are not a good company, and not willing to stand behind their product. These are work machines, and if don't work when needed, are worthless. Being extremely patient and understanding to this company is not working. Time for action my friend! I wish you all the best.

  • @matthewyoung4877
    @matthewyoung4877 Před 5 lety +7

    Every time I see your videos there are different fault codes on the dash. Not one consistent one but many different ones. Your problems seem like it may stem from poor grounds. I have seen many pieces of equipment that I work on with grounds that are attached and then painted over. What happens is the paint will get in between the ground wire and the part it is bolted to causing high resistance between the connection which will cause a lot of different problems that happen randomly and typically will get worse as the piece of equipment ages and heats up. You may want to see if LS has a service bulletin out for this issue. I have seen other manufactures come out with similar bulletins. The fix is to simply remove the grounds clean the connections, remove the paint at the grounding points and reinstall. If you have had the wiring harness replaced but the problem is still there it may be due to the fact that they didn't clean the ground points before reinstalling the new harness and just bolted the ground right back over the painted ground point.

    I also have an LS tractor. I have the XG3135. Its the same tractor as yours with less bells and whistles. I only have about 50 hours so far. I haven't had any problems with mine yet except some shudder when I raise the 3 point. Anyway I have the LS code list. The last code you threw was the F11 1221. Here is what the code list says it is. 1221 11 P061B "ECU - Zero Torque Monitoring fault". Don't know what exactly that is but hopefully your dealer can answer that. If you want I can email you a PDF of the codes. I have been told that it is very bad to keep these tractors at idle so much. They should be ran at a minimum of 1500-1800rpms. 2000rpms is optimal(Of course 2600rpms if running the PTO). Lower RPMs can really cause some malfunctions with the emissions garbage.
