once it catches you, you are forced to look at it, and are required to play Simon Says until it wants to stop. all the while your at risk of being found and killed by other monsters. get a command wrong, you instantly die. this thing is a god and you are at its mercy until it lets you go.

so you can still run away from things but you also have to play simon says while doing so

There are a lot of things in the game that don't make it scarier. This is a creature that can make the game more frustrating. Wait until it tells you to kill another player or pull the lever on the ship.
