The only difference in the way I sharpen an axe is I file into the edge, yes it's a good way to get cut but so far haven't happened.
Thanks for sharing and take care.

do my splitting mauls with a fine grit flap disk on an angle grinder, a couple of light strokes and you get a bright polished razor sharp edge.

Love to watch you work, the experience shows in every move. Free and light, good stance, no energy wasted on gripping too hard, precise enough for the task at hand.
The guitar player might be you, but whoever it is could improve their playing by paying attention to the same. When we are inexperienced, we often tighten up muscles to compensate, this binds up movement and we get tired and inprecise quickly.

Another nice video. I used a Ken onion blade grinder attachment last time w slow speed without much heating, also creates a curved radius.

Could you please do a video on how to re-handle and axe properly? Especially sizing the handle for the eye and using epoxy etc. to help set it. Keep up the great work!

I have cross filed many times. And it helps make the difference. Cut one way, then back into it. This helps to see where you have been, and where you are going. Skill cult is great for axe info!

What type of file should we use?
Video Idea: What are common tools every man should have? (you could include visual examples)
I've watched every single video you've made. Always impressed.

Little chalk on your file will help keep it cleaned out also. I purchased some new belts recently for my sander and they had some belt grease. I have to say I am impressed. It helps to keep the belt from clogging up and keeps the work piece cool.

I am curious if you typically file your axes while held level on a table like that, or if it was more a demonstration thing, rather than holding it with the edge up or vertical.
But sharpening an axe by hand truly is a relaxing and enjoyable time. Taking a few minutes to sit there and listening to the world around you and the hiss of a file or stone running over steel is worth the time over using a loud power tool. Also a decent excuse to rest a few more minutes so you're less likely to do something stupid while tired.
