- What a beautiful tribute to Lemmy and more importantly to all of the casualties of this war. #sabaton #sabatonreaction #tommyjohansson #tommyjohanssonreaction #lemmykilmister #motörhead

Let’s take a minute to really appreciate what Sabaton does. They stir up so much emotions ❤️
They always do, no matter if it's a cover or their own stuff. 😢 They turn every song into a masterpiece!
YEP
I loved how they included the surviving members of Motorhead and also a pictorial Tribute to Lemmy in the video
I understand that the guy carrying Lemmy's picture was Motorhead's tour manager (and is now Sabaton's tour manager)
@@MercenaryPen yup thats eddie rocha 🤗
Thanks Lemy, and thanks to Sabaton for realising it. What a song, What another lesson of life. We know nothing, until it comes to war.
8:36 the guys standing at the door opening are Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell, the drummer, and guitarist of Motörhead.
I feel you, Sue! I cried so much yest, going thru all the reactions. Sabaton kept it classy, and man, the guitar solo was emotional!
Chris is co-lead guitar (dark hair), Par is on bass...he's the shortest w the best beard...he's the history buff.
Hi Ames - yes it was amazing, huh?
@SueSueandthewolfman It was a very emotional song...but Sabaton kept it classy!
Makes me realise how lucky I am to been allowed to lived my life. These were young children who should have lived another 60 + years. But they was mercilessly cut down, like nothing.
Tommy made his guitar sound sad again. And the voice. So well done. Love the references to other soldiers and other wars as well. Saw the Night Witch coming from the alley during the solo. And honoring Lemmy was well done. Was his song originally, after all.
Born in 1957, I grew up listening to songs like The Green Fields of France or The Band Played Waltzing Matilda. Thank you Sabaton for reminding the young generation of this terrible war. And thank you both for this video.
Your reaction to this video was just right. This was a great tribute to Lemmy and Motorhead. Even though this was a song about the great loss of life in the battles of World War I it was also a memorial to all soldiers who lost their lives in war. You will notice soldiers with the Screaming Eagle patch the girl in uniform for the Night Witches, Greek soldiers, Crusaders, Asian soldiers, and Swedish soldiers. You also saw the convertible car in the middle of the street symbolizing what started World War I which was the same car the Archduke was riding in when he was assassinated. So much history in this one song as well as so many things from other Sabaton songs. This has to be the best son yet from Sabaton. Love you, guys.
Lemmy wrote and composed the song. Love that they included the surviving members of Motorhead in the video.
Tina Guo played the cello, she has worked with Sabaton several times.
Some Veterans are still not being taken care of. If you haven't seen it, watch the video for Wrong Side of Heaven by Five Finger Death Punch.
Did you notice the scene with the girl looking up at the planes flying over? Those were the Night Witches. They were never allowed to fly in a victory parade in their time. They finally got their moment of honor in this video. That’s Sabaton for you. Loved everything about this.
Those planes were Bombers (4 engines), the Night Witches flew in Biplanes. Probably a reference to the Album Bomber from Motörhead.
Your'e mixing up WWI with WWII...
@@erwindegroot8760 you're right, it's most likely B-17s, but the lady still is a Soviet Officer, and all these Soldiers are from Sabaton songs.. so this very much is about Night Witches, with maybe hinting to "Lady of the Dark", too, since she comes from the shadows...
@@sarcasticconsultant378 the whole video is a mixture of different soldiers from different eras... and the lady is 100% a night witch
@@FaceFish9 Yes you're right...Thanx.
Edwin Starr did War (what is it good for). War did Low Rider. The Great War was unimaginably brutal and horrific.
One of my great-grandfathers enlisted illegally - he was just 15. He was lucky, coming back to London and becoming a milkman, as did his sons. Another great-grandfather was a Red Cross ambulance driver. He was caught in a gas attack and was badly affected by what we know now as PTSD. 🕊
I also visited the museum the video was shot at back in the 1980s when it was new.
WW1 was a horrible war of many superlatives, fortunately something not seen before and after it.
Like free use of poison gases. That stuff is *horrible*. Sabaton: Attack of the Dead Men has some video about those. It took hours for some of them to die, but their lungs were disintegrating the whole time, so they literally coughed out bloody chunks of their own lungs until there was not enough oxygen taken to keep you conscious.
Love that you watch it all then react, not pausing every 10 sec to talk - that only destroys the song and experiance. 👍
Agree.
I hate when reactors like to hear the sound from their own voice more than the actual song.
The ending cello part is arranged and performed by the amazing Tina Guo, whom Sabaton have collaborated with several times before. Just as with Christmas Truce they snuck in some powerful end credits with a guest performer. 🤘🏻🎻🤘🏻
Russia took part in the War from 1914 until March 1918 although there had been an armistice between Russia and the Central Powers since December 1917.
The Russians suffered around 1.5 million dead with around 6 million more injured during the 3½ years that they were actively participating in the Great War.
In Britain the young men they lost in WW1 was called «the lost generation» because they lost so many young men. I think the musicvideo is a reference to this.
A very emotional and touching video. I want to get each time.
And I saw Tommy commenting on your reaction, Suesue.😊
Hello this is the first video ever seen from you guys. I got to say it was a great reaction video. Looking forward to watching the rest of your content 😁.
Thank you so much 💜
I believe Tommy was the driving force behind this cover....from what I heard. It's a brilliant tribute.
My grandfather lied about his age but he was knocked back on the physical. His older brother was accepted and went to France but, like many others he was lost during the battle of Passchendaele and his remains were never found. His name is on the memorial at Ypres. Lest we forget.
I'm reading a book at the moment about the youngest ANZACS (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) that served in the First World War, the youngest was 13 years old!
bless ya, you both just look and sound like my Mum n Dad when we play "their" Songs by Eagles, Led Zeppelin...
😂💜
Such a great song and video… And a great reaction as always Suesue and my bearded Buddy ❤️❤️❤️.
I think Lemmy would have approved of what Sabaton have done with this.
Lest we forget...
War was made by the Temptation and Edwin Star did a cover and so did Bruce Springsteen
At age 16 you are to young for many things, but not to die a meaningless death.
Thank you! I had not seen this music video!
Impressive again!
Hi sweet girl - hope you are well!
@@SueSueandthewolfman I am Fine! going to see Floor’s show monday and to a meet and greet with her next saterday! Exited and nervous!
sabaton best history teachers and heavy metal band 🤘🎸👑
I saw this live at Wembley on Saturday night performed for only the second time. I knew what was coming and I looked to you Sue because as a Mother I knew it was going to hit you hard when the facts and figures started. We had some northern towns hit so hard as a result of this war. But it was a wonderful concert - Tommy was particularly entertaining. I was sitting by the side of the stage and managed to lock eyes with Hannes and shared a thumbs 👍 up when he walked off the stage and down the steps - which made my night! As always, God bless and take good care of yourselves 😃 🙏
Sabaton are not merely great musicians, they are Bards.
the song war is of course made great and also probably written by bruce springsteen. during the video you were a bit mixed up cause the russians were in from the start because the war was on different fronts their's was the easternfront. it was america that just entered this war in 1917. the rest of the video is full of eastereggs to either motörhead or other sabaton songs. to start already the bus is going to hammersmith after the best motörhead live album. you were talking about the lady who came out of a door and watched the planes flying by. she was actually in charge of those group of planes called the nightwitches. the open car in the middle of the street was the car in which the austrian crownprince was killed. and so you can see many more details in this video. which makes this one of teh best videos they ever made. by the way you saw the remaining members of motörhed walking in the march but the guy in the middle eddy rocha holding the picture of lemmy and is nowadays the tourmanager of sabaton has been tourmanager for motörhead for many years.
Thank you to all the soldiers and other divisions past and present for their bravery and sacrifices your legacy will live on. Thank you Lemmy, Motörhead and Sabaton for keeping their stories alive.
Hugs to both of you and tbh that war song reference don't worry about it I wasn't sure what 1916 was gonna be when I checked it out and yes this song is a good reality check with all the craziness that does desensitize us unfortunately
Hi guys, i guess the song you was looking for were Bruce Springsteen - War (well, thats the version ive heard but many has recorded it i think), a great song just like this one. Keep up the great work and have a nice saturday!
Its a good song..
This should be played every single time poeple is thinking to go somewhere to kill other people for the wrong reasons, for greed etcetera etcetera.. there's a saying "Young men who don't hate each other are sent to war because of old men that do".
Alot people forget what soldier do for them and take it for granted was crying
Edwin Starr sang the song "War". And I cried thru this whole video.
And some still think that Sabaton glorifies war.
They just aren't listening to the lyrics .....
Wolfman is correct - when Russia entered the first World War there was still a Czar. In 1917 the revolution in Russia led to the murder of czar and his family (Anastasia screamed in vain, sings Mick Jagger on Sympathy for the Devil) and thereupon followed the civil war between the red and the white armies. Early 1918 the Russians signed a peace. The battle in trenches in France was gruesome, especially when chemical weapons were introduced.
All wars are easy before you have seen war
The car they pass at the beginning: The assassination in Sarajevo.
❤🙏❤️
Greetings 🫡 from a swedish sergeant
Greetings! 💜
War was recorded by Edwin Starr
They should show these videos in schools to teach kids history
ww1 first industrialised war with all the horrors it birth
The machine gun was the most decisive bit of technology
in World War One
as it was not something that either side had effective techniques
to combat.
So there was a lot of stalemate on both fronts
You put your head out of the trenches
and a machine gun was trained on you.
The tank was invented by the British to try to combat
the machine gun
I know in the British army the Cavalry became the
mechanised divisions and also the Air Force
The British devised the 1919 plan to break through
the German lines
but the internal collapse of the German state in November 1918
led to it never being used
The Germans studied it and in WW2 used it in what we often call
the Blitzkrieg tactics.
The American Civil War was one of the earliest wars
where mechanised guns played a role
and things like the Battle of the Wilderness
was simply won by the number of dead - it was attrition.
Come on dear Cris has long hair but not bear ...
same thing happens right now....
What was Russia to do with the British fighting Germany in 1914/18.
My husband has been having some cognitive issues and even though he was a history major in college he gets confused. He recanted this later, but just wanted to let you know! Be blessed, Suesue
I think you folks mix up WWI and WWII
The last big WW was WW2
1916 in the battle of Somme was WW1
Austria and Hungary fought East vs Serbia and Russia went to help Serbia
Germany fought west against France, England, Scottland, and on.
EDWIN Starr Song War
Imperial Russia was involved in the vast majority of WW1. While the Bolsheviks did seize power from the government during the October revolution in 1917, it was not until the treaty of Brest-Litovsk on the 3rd of March 1918 that they ceased hostilities with the Central Powers (so just about 7 months before the wars end). The country did not really become fully under their control either until the end of the Russian Civil War in 1922.
🖤🎗🪖🥀🕊
Russia was arguably the final spark that started this war, and they remained in it from 1914-1918. The 2nd Russian Revolution (aka the one that ended up with the Soviet Union) started in 1917, and it was the Bolsheviks (communists) that negotiated the peace treaty. The casualties on the Russian, or Eastern Front, was much, much higher than on the Western Front.
war.....its a classic bruce springsteen song
Sorry...It's a cover....
Doesn't come near the original song by Motorhead. Sorry, just an opinion.
Oof, you may want to review your history of WWI. Russia was on the side of England, France, Italy and eventually, the USA. Russia leaves the war after a collapse in 1917 (leading to the rise of Lenin and the Bolsheviks/Soviet Union). Russia signs a treaty leaving the war officially sometime in early 1918.
Yes, my husband was a history major but he has recently developed some bad memory problems. Sorry for any bad information.💜
@@SueSueandthewolfman No worries. Sorry to hear about the memory issues. It wasn't a major part of the video and didn't take away from it. :)
8:36 Mikkey Dee, the Motörhead drummer also in this video. 🇸🇪
And the guitarist Phil Campbell.
Great song, but the Motörhead version is much more sad. 😢
After this song we need something more humoristic, please Brothers of Metal - Mead Song.
War was Frankie goes to Hollywood
...the most irrelevant cover of this song...
But russia have kids
Omg, your historical "knowledge" is such a mess.
WW1 was NOT last big european war. Ever heard about WW2?
WW1 does not made Russia a superpower, WW2 does. WW1 absolutelly demolished Russia, they lost a bunch of territory, theys goverment fell, civil war rages for next few years. They slowly begine to get up maybe a decade after the war.
EVERY ARMY of WW1 used cavalry. It was a norm at the time. And the tanks was invented during the war, use in a limited number, mostly by UK and France. Germany manage to made maybe 20 of them and as far as I know use all of them on the western front, so Russians never faced them.
Also... there was almost no "poorer" countries in Europe at the time. Few exist, like Serbia, but most of them, like Poland, Hungary or Finland was created after the war. Before they were part of German, Russian, Autro-Hungarian or Ottoman empires - all 4 desintegrate on the end of the war.
Russia was in the war for most of it's duration, more than 3 years (out of 4 and a quater). And they didn't back out becose they become comunist - they back out cose they fall into civil war. They become comunist later at the end of it (year or two after WW1 ended). So they were a part of WW1 in 1916, but did not took part in the battle at the Somme - they were like half of europe away.
You’ll have to excuse Wolfman when he gets things wrong. He has been having cognitive and neurological issues that our regular viewers know about but not everybody else. His memory is fading and he was a history major in college so it’s very sad to me. Just wanted to let you know, -Sue
What a bad joke
Listen to the original with Lemmy!
