  • On the anniversary of Power Rangers, we take a look back at the hugely challenging, incredibly rewarding, process of developing the Rangers' suits' intergalactic armour.
    With an embedded texture, 'glowing' veins & and a technically advanced Lycra underlayer, these suits were awesome fun to help design and create - and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Power Rangers' crew on set in Vancouver!

      nuzilloyd You'd be very surprised how real the suit was for Iron Man 1, they never really mentioned it again for the other films but I remember hearing the the Ironman MK2 or 3 suit was like 120 layers all in all and was a real suit he wore in scenes all like glued d9wn plastic and it took a couple of hours to put on. I wish they stuck with it because the actual iron man suit in IM1 looks so real in some scenes now it looks very fake or CGI, mainly the colours of the suit and reflections look weird. Well since it's discontinued we may never know. But Rita's suit is the only thing that we can look at and agree to. I really wish that they could have given him another chance to write and make a second movie. But the fact that Rita was the green ranger was absolutely amazing and how Zordon was the red ranger made absolute sense. The suits of the rangers were all good and we're amazing how they looked.

    Ranger suits.

    If they made a green ranger for this timeline, you could EASILY just add Tommy's original design, Chest Sheild and gold accents and they would fit perfectly with these designs.

    Love the movie, I saw it 18 times in theaters Love Weta and I love it when Richard Taylor takes about how the design works (always hear his voice in my head whenever I wonder how a design was thought of for fantasy things)
    But, in all honesty, I feel like it was trying too hard. They wanted it to not be just a large budget episode of the show, they wanted it to stand out, but it did it too much. Megazord was too different that it had a 'what is that supposed to be' look. (It had feet that looked like what a fly does after swatting at it with a fly swatter). The design of the suits were nice, but they just didn't have enough individual uniqueness besides Red and Green.

    • @radrno7
      @radrno7 Před 3 lety

      Yeah, I'd say they focused so much on Red Ranger that they simply replicated him with slightly different details, which is not what they're supposed to look like, each one has its own look that is enough to look both as cool and recognizable. The cluster of layers of textures is too much too, Tony Stark would have an aneurisma just by looking at one of them, even years later I have trouble telling what the hell I'm looking at.

    I was surprised that it was Weta Workshop that designed and make the Power Ranger's suits intergalactic armor. Cool and awesome/lovely how the armor looks on those of the crew trying them on and the moves they do in them. It would be better to see the cast, playing the Power Ranger characters, trying on the Superhero Power Ranger Suits. Were they working on this during, or shortly after working on Ghost in the Shell?
