    Thank you for demonstrating the wall plank. I found it difficult to process so much information from "Back Mechanic". Hip hinge was a term I wasn’t sure about in relation to the side plank discussion in the "Big 3” exercises but found a video that showed it but used a different term. The "Short Stop Squat" you termed the infielders squat that I learned first from your interview with Dr. McGill did more for my pinched nerve pain than anything I’ve found. Thanks and keep them coming.

    Very helpful, & you're right- it can be difficult to isolate. I do know I feel relief when I tilt posteriorly, & in fact, when my husband & I are exercise walking I often stop to grab his hands- facing him- & lean back while tilting my pelvis forward to stretch & get relief~ so I can keep walking! It can be intense, but we find ways to compensate. Actually, these movements you shared here will be in my routine- along with continuing to strengthen my core. Thanks guys =) -Samantha in AZ

    I usually think of my belly pushing out to the FRONT will create an anterior tilt, and opposite pushing my belly towards the BACK will create a posterior tilt. Anterior - front, posterior - back. Of course then you gotta involve the butt muscles and so on and so forth. Thank you!

    So I love you videos! I have been suffering for 2 years from si joint disfunction. My chiropractor says this is because the left side of my pelvis is in anterior rotation and the right side of my pelvis is in posterior rotation, and this causing my sacrum to be tilted. Can you post a video of some excercises I can do or leave some in the comments so that I can work on this issue proactively. I know this video wasn't centered around this, I just wanted to comment on the newest video in hopes to get a quicker response. Thank you so so much! I have been suffering so long! About your older video on 9 min interval workout.. I used to work out with someone who has a PhD in physiology (I think it was), and still do her exercises and follow her advice. I've seen quite alot of people on the internet say interval training is better, but one of the things she talked about is that when your heart rate is higher from working out you shouldn't put your head below your heart or slow down or quit moving too quick from a faster workout. Do you have an opinion on interval training as far as whether it's safe or healthy for the heart?

    Thanks both!! I've found in the clinic that most of my clients (with back pain or not) have some sort tilt. What I find challenging is verbally explaining the pelvic tilt. My rehab director likes to use the term "tuck the tailbone" and "keep your ribs down," but I find that a lot of my clients don't really know what these directions mean, or can't replicate them. Even with my own demonstration, Most people end up in a further anterior pelvic tilt by sticking their belly button forward

    If you have an anterior pelvic tilt, does that always mean you have lordosis? Is it possible to have both kyphosis and lordosis?

  • @anthonyarmata4525
    @anthonyarmata4525 Před 3 lety +13

    The reason we want a normal posture is because it minimizes stress on the muscle and joints, and we must align our body against gravity to do so because gravity can easily act on our body. Being in a deviated position for long periods of time can places stress and can even cause deformities over time. Ideally, we should have a slight convex thoracic curve and a slightly concave lumbar curve to maintain that “neutral spine”. One method that I tend to use to identify postural deformities is upper/lower cross syndrome, and this method can especially be useful when doing postural assessment screening. For example, upper cross syndrome can be if the head and neck tilt forward and if the shoulders are rounded vs if there is scapular winging, and lower cross syndrome is when there is anterior vs posterior pelvic tilt (if anterior pelvic tilt, abdominals and hip flexors will be weakened and erector spinae and hip extensors will be right and shortened). And there is a whole lot more to identifying different types of deviating postures. Another way you can possibly tell is by placing a dowel along the spine behind you on standing, and making sure that the dowel touches the points of contact which are the back of your head, thoracic, lumbar and buttocks/sacral area, which ensures a neutral spine (to be honest, I actually thought of the dowel idea before even watching this video, but Bob and Brad are very helpful with that as well).

      Try the tapping eft tecnique. You can find a lot of info online, there is an excellent CZcams Dr Brad Yates for example who uses this technique. It was originally created to treat both physical and psychological traumas on the body of war veterans I believe. The principle is very simple, you gently but firmly tap in certain points of your body (beginning on the side of your hand, top of the head, near the eyebrows, next to eyes, under the eyes, above mouth, under the collar bone, on the side of your ribs) and say new information to your body. (If you can’t “tap” you can have someone tap for you). In your case it could be something along the lines “I love and accept myself as I am. I know it wasn’t easy for me to loose a limb, I know that maybe it still isn’t, but I am open to idea that it will become better, I am open to the idea that I can live happy and free without it and feel as complete as I did before. I am open to the idea that everything is working out for me, I now let go, as much as I can of fears related to this subject. I am open to be surprised positively.” And then some time after, some days for example “I love and respect myself. I am so happy to be me,I truly believe I can gain balance and live pain free. I truly believe this. Although I felt a phantom pain, I am now released of it, I can see the improvement day by day. I feel good with this positive changes because from now on I declare that changes in my life happen in a positive harmonious way. I love and accept myself”.
      It helped me so much with some problems of mine, I hope it helps you too. Wishing all the best ❤️

    Bob and Brad...Too bad you did not show this while seated. ...This test works awesome while sitting. You will be more mindful seated in neutral between anterior and posterior.

    It hurts both ways and the doctor is useless. FYI it’s a bad idea to put the bar across your shoulders like that for squats.
