My son bought me one several years ago and I love it!!! They rarely need re inking and the quality of stamping is wonderful!!! Being able to design your own stamp is a game changer!
I agree! I'm loving it so far. Btw, where do you get more stamp sheets? I have found a couple places but not a single place that sells all sizes.
@@LVHandcrafted @LVHandcrafted I just always bought mine directly from Silhouette. They've never been out of stock and the prices are comparable to Amazon etc. Dunno if this helps? BTW, I saw where the Mint had gone up to about $150 but now reduced to $50? Funny! $50 is what my son paid a few years ago LOL
@@raehenderson they only seem to have 2 sizes on the silhouette site and neither are the ones that came with the machine. I still might get them but was looking for more of the 15 x 60.

Congratulations on your purchase. Hopefully if the Mint receives more exposure Silhouette will start back producing more accessories. I've had mine since it launched. I'm glad they haven't discontinued it. I love Silhouette products but they're not good at promoting them. After I ink my stamp I lightly go over it with a wet wipe to remove excess ink. This keeps you from wasting ink stamping it off.
Oh thank you so much for the tip! Can I ask you where you get more stamp sleeves? Particularly the sizes in this kit?
I have a Mint as well! It's a great tool when you need a sentiment that isn't in your collection. I often find something similar to what I want and even combined with a little graphic flourish on esty for a $ or 2. A couple years ago I needed a Happy Thanksgiving stamp and found the perfect perky scripty greeting with little sheaves of wheat as a flourish. As to inking, I usually to do light colors first. Put it on, let it sink in, repeat until it doesn't absorb it so quickly. Then put the next color on. The color lasts a long time if you are using them regularly but fades out if not used for a long time.
Thank you so much for the inking tip! I was just thinking about trying this... inking all of one color first. then stamping it out until it's clean. Then inking up the next color. I want to use up all the ink on this first stamp and try it out now. LOL. I'm still waiting on my order for more stamp sheets. 😄 Can I ask you where you get your stamp sheets from? It was hard to find them on Amazon for the sizes that come in the box.

Well, this is the first I've heard of the Mint as well.
I was shocked when I realized the videos I watched were 8 yrs old! It's been around for a while and I'm glad Silhouette still has the software and product so it's nice to see it's still supported.

Friend, I'm so excited to see you do this. I've looked at this machine for a long time, but somehow had the impression that the stamp itself was temporary, and not just the ink.
I used to own a stamp maker very similar to the stamp forge. It's still available from Amazon, but is no longer branded by whatever card-maker/scrapbooker I bought it from. It was.....very messy. I would LOVE to know if this new option is better because I clearly have a desire to make stamps and sentiments!!!!

Thanks so much, friend!! I'll keep you posted on how this compares to the stamp forge. The relief on this is fairly slight. It's rubber but it'll be interesting to see over time if it flattens at all. Otherwise, I think this should be pretty long lasting. We shall see

Hi Rae! It's pretty nifty, right??? I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't heard of it before. LOL. I think I've heard of a mounting cushion for unmounted red rubber, but I don't think this would work because the rubber on this is pretty thin... like 1/16" I think. I think red rubber is closer to 1/4"? I dunno... I'll have to research more. But I definitely dont' think it's necessary to have a bunch of blocks the same size. :) I love that they made them interchangeable.
In the long run you can save money. My work information is different from my personal etc.....I would definitely use this!
That's what I'm thinking too! I can make return address stamps instead of having to constantly buy mailing labels. And I can have one for my personal and for my LV Handcrafted mail that I send out.
I'm so glad I found this and the stamp forge before I bought more self-inking stamps! I feel I've already saved money just with that alone

Yes, most definitely! Lol the problem is getting more stamps. Lol I ordered them but they are on "special order" so it's taking forever to get to me.
i have had one for years. Its a neat product but the cost of materials is pricey. Sometimes you can find a sale on the blanks but not often.
@@anitajoseph9955 the blanks are a bit spendy but I figure it's still less than what a custom stamp would cost to buy so still coming out ahead. That's what I tell myself anyhow. Lol 😂
I have the Mint. I made a stamp to use on the back of my cards. I did mine in red and black. I was thinking about using it to make sentiment stamps like "Happy Birthday", "Hello", and "Thinking of You" that I use a lot.
OMG... I can't believe I'm only just now learning about the Mint! LOL. I think I've spent more than $50 on custom stamps for both my crafting stuff and my consulting business. Where do you get your stamp sleeves from?
@@LVHandcraftedactually got the set plus bunches of supplies from an estate sale. There was an ink in every color that was made and at least 2 of every size stamp.

@@LVHandcrafted It all depends on what you use the most. I have only used black, red and blue even though I have all of the colors. I find the red doesn't print as dark as I would like. The black seems to work best.
I’ve had my mint now for some years and I’ve only made one stamp for me to stamp the back of my greeting cards. I love it just don’t use it as I should. Great investment

Love this! I will say W R Memories doesn’t always support their products like the PrintMaker for long term…So my investment in the PrintMaker is lost!😡

I have one but do not know where I out it. I’m not sure why I bought it. One of the things that know is that you can only use their ink and the supplies are pretty expensive if they bring them back.
Hi Pat! I've found the Silhouette website to be the lowest price for the stamp sheets but they don't have all the sizes. Everywhere else the prices seem to vary by quite a lot. Same with the inks.. On their website it's only $2 per ink bottle.
Can you use an ink pad with these?
I've seen other folks on YT try using different ink pads and some said they were successful. Ranger Archival ink is what I remember working really well. But versamark ink for embossing did not work very well. I haven't tried it myself yet.
I thought the Silhouette Mint had been discontinued...? 🤔
I got mine on Amazon and they still have the ink and stamp sheets on their Silhouette America website. The thing is that you have to explicitly search for them, which maybe means they are just going to sell what they have left and then call it good. Part of me wants to just stock up just in case. LOL
That's probably a good idea. Supplies are only going to be available whilst stocks last and, as you've already found, some are hard to source. It's a shame as it's a super product...

I wanted to make more right away but I'm still waiting for my order from BH photo, which seems like the only reasonable price place to get the two sizes that came in the kit. I'm definitely going to order more from silhouette also . I wanted to see how I like the mint compared to the new stamp forge before going all in. Lol 🤣
Is it possible to use this as a conventional stamp? Could you put it on EZ Mount and use it like a rubber stamp?
My guess is you can but it is very thin compared to a red rubber stamp. And it seems the rubber soaks in the ink a bit, so cleaning might also be different. That's why I also got the stamp forge because that one is more like your classic -- ink and stamp type of stamp. And it's supposed to be photopolymer, so we'll see.

I have had my Mint for over 12 years. Loved it BUT within 2 years could not find supplies. Another tool toy that is launched and then seemingly not supported.
Hi Kathryn! Have you looked at the Silhouette America website? They sell the inks and stamp sheets at the best price I've found. You won't see it in the menus. You have to search for "mint stamp" to find the listings
I just found with all the talking you did. Why didn't you finish by show use how it stamped?
