What is even more exciting is that this can be filled through pharmacy. OMG that Is a game changer for me. Thank you Justin for this video.
yay!!
Definitely something I would use! I am looking into getting my first pump setup and there is just so much out there to research that it is kinda crazy. With my insurance, I will have to foot a good portion of the cost initially as well as every 3 months for supplies. Who knew staying healthy as a T1D that it would be be like paying for a car monthly that you will never ride or drive. :)
Any word about co$t??
*CORRECTION: Sequel would like to clarify a misstatement in the original video. The twiist pump, when connected to the disposable cassette has a rating of IP28, indicating protection from continuous immersion in water. The pump can tolerate immersion to depths of up to 12 feet (3.7 m) [not 25 feet] for 1 hour. *
Thanks again, Dean Kaman. We’ve a few pump users in the family since the 1990s…and your innovations have made a true difference in the lives of so many. This is next level…and can’t wait to be able to try it.
❤❤❤❤
I’m super excited to see this come out! Sounds like a great product, especially the feature to adjust after your bolus. I tend to overestimate my carbs especially at dinner, exactly what I need!
He has a good mindset, directed to interoperability, interchangeability and flexibility. Let's see where that leads the pump and the company, I am excited.
Thanks Justin!! Your smile says it all! So exciting!
hahahaha :)
Another great video, Justin! I look forward to all your videos. Thanks for what you do. Your questions are fantastic.
Glad you like them! :)
Looking forward to your visit of their r&d facility. Also excited to see the pump going global as soon as possible. Definitely a big game changer!
Me too! :) :)
I'm excited about the Twist and am looking forward to seeing how you like it once you get one! Also curious to see what you'll learn when you visit the facility! Thanks!
Ditto ditto!!
Another awesome pump!!! Sounds wonderful I also have patches for my dexcom and omnipod
yasssss skin grip is the best!
Yes, I’d love to try it!
It's so cool! Video coming soon where I saw it in person!
Awesome!
Sounds like a great pump. 😊
Great interview! I don’t know what specifically the pricing will look like, but if it’s as reasonable as he says I may consider getting on board regardless warranty status once it’s compatible with G7
Yes, I would absolutely be willing to give it a try. If it’s coming through pharmacy instead of the company, sounds like that might be more affordable and possibly not locked in for 4-5 years.
I currently use the Omnipod5 or both of these reasons, but have had a bad adhesive reaction to it and limited where I can use the pump. I’ve already been thinking about switching to a different one, but just not happy with how large they are being a tubed pump. I wear mostly dresses and skirts and this would be a lot easier to deal with as far as not always having pockets. I am excited and can’t wait for its release hopefully this year. Thank you for sharing!
I very nearly stopped using it myself (I've been using it since 2014) because I could only wear the pod on my arms or legs (but legs were not an option because of years of MDIs and absorption problems). I tried just about every barrier out there and none of them worked even to the point of spraying antihistamine sprays on my skin which some people swore worked for them. I did eventually find a barrier wipe that works for me and now I can use the pod on my torso therefore being able to use it on different sites which I couldn't do before. It uses silicone in the ingredients and that seems to be the game changer for me. It's also slightly tacky after it's on, so that also helps the pod stick a bit better. I'm aware that it might that I'm advertising something but I promise I don't work for the company, I just love the wipes so much because it's meant I don't have to go over to a tubed pump. I'm in Canada and I used to buy this barrier wipe from the USA until they stopped selling outside the USA a short while ago, though the barrier wipe was available in the UK too. They have a similar product now in Canada (in fact though it's a different name, the packaging is almost identical) and so I can buy it from a company not too far away from where I live. You are lucky; here we have only literally this week had the Omnipod5 approved in Canada and God alone knows when we will actually have it available to use. Here in Canada we are light years behind every other country, each time we get some new diabetes tech. It is very frustrating.
I have been on Omnipod, & have liked it for the most part. IT is definitely, an great improvement over injections. I am going to be trying the Tandem Mobi that's coming out soon. It is covered better by my insurance. It is small, you might want to check it out in the meantime.
Fantastic.
Interesting and learned something new r/t to the algorithms for close tolerance pump functioning. I would guess this is a Cambridge, MA company. I'll have to pass this info to my endocrinologist. Thanks for the tech update.
Hi Connie, Sequel and DEKA are both based in Manchester, NH - so you're pretty close!
I wish this was coming out sooner! My first pump in fall of 1979 was an AutoSyringe. I had to adjust the basal rate by turning the dial with a screwdriver. Boluses were done by counting the beeps as you pushed the buttons.
OMG Can we talk about it?!?!?! I wanna hear what that was like!
Email me! or hit my up on instagram - @diabe_tech
@@diabe_techI’m now following you on Instagram.
Thank you so much for that interview. I am very excited for the pump to come out and the future of diabetes. I am 64. I got diabetes when I was 12 and I think they will finally have a pump that works like a pancreas!!
Woohoo! So excited about it. Thanks for watching :)
I loved this video. Thank you to you both for making it.
1. I'd love to see a video comparing DIY loop, iAPS, Omnipod 5, and AAPS algorithms.
2. I'd love to learn more about the infusion set for the twiist pump, such as length of tubing and angle of insertion. Will the infusion sets be stainless steel or plastic?
3. When the pump is launched because they are working with iPhone, does that mean you'll have to have an iPhone to use the twiist pump and it's algorithm?
I loved hearing they'd be open to incorporating the iAPS or AAPS into their algorithm.
Thank you for these suggestions/ideas! I am working to get a video on algorithms....stay tuned for that. Def going to do more Twiist content too. For twiist, you'll need an iPhone at first (algorithm runs on the pump and cgm connects directly to pump). iPhone app will be used to do extra controls, boluses and more. Hopefully Android is next - Tidepool is working on Android and I assume that will speed up Sequel's app.
Maybe this isn't available yet but I would love to have more info about how the cgm will work with this pump. Will this pump allow you to completely choose which alarms the user wants to access? Currently using Dexcom 6/tandem and the alarms are not just annoying but causing depression with the disruption of sleep and life due to lack of sleep.
I'd love to see what this looks like compared to other pumps. I know he said it's not big but it does look large to me watching on video.
Im going to try and get a demo unit to do JUST that! ;)
41:25 Now we are talking! 😁
I like the device, eager for an Android version.
My favorite parts are it posture towards the community, 3 cc reservoir, swimmable, but even bigger is the pharmacy option. Since it is a tubed pump, could the infusion sets be through pharmacy as well?
Does Twist have a disposable cartridge, what does it look like and can you put between 200 to 300 units of U100 insulin in it (for those who need more than 200 units but less than 300 units over 3 days?
have them add orbit Infusion Set I would be the first one in line to get this
I would be interested in trying this pump but unfortunately I am on Android.
Me, too. They always have Apple compatibility before Android and that annoys me a lot!!!
I have high blood pressure how could this help me?
so does Mr. Lockton which has a background in pharmacy realize that going through the pharmacy a lot of people will not be able to use the twist the same as the Omni Pod I loved it but because it threw me in the donut hole within three months there are lots of people are not going to be able to use the twist if I'm wrong about this please let me know I have had diabetes over 50 years had several different pumps going through the pharmacy is a great idea but that donut hole is a disaster
Bad President GWB gets no donut for creating the donut hole
I love that’s he was just like if it works then why not?! Seeing iAPS get approved and not have to jump through so many hoops to get the standard of care you want would be unreal. I’m saying this as I just had Dash denied by insurance, and sadly am having to use OP5, which if you’ve looped or used iAPS is a significant step down.
Right!? I gotta meet him and talk about this in person....stand by!
I really would love to give this a try but I heard him say that it will be through pharmacy which has happened to me with Omni Pod I would be using it but within three months I was thrown in the donut hole I had to go back to Tandem if they ever do away with the donut hole through the pharmacies I will be on the list to get one
What is the “donut hole”?
Awesome news for those who want to continue Looping now that older Medtronics are conking one by one
Cool

I have trouble digesting food, a pump with a larger target would be superb.

2 BIG Questions (Please number replies “1.” and “2.”:
1. You mention bringing on an Android app (~20:53-21:53, mm:dd). Is mySugr a possibility (already has Apple and Android apps) for Android use with the Twiist insulin delivery system?
2. What about using Twist with only a CGM for bolus insulin deliveries AND long-acting, once-daily injections of long-acting basal insulin (e.g., Tresiba, Lantus or their generics). Why? Well, many type 1s find basal control with Tresiba or Lantus spot on, and it’s really only the meal/snack boluses that cause trouble. Not to mention the “~36 hr. basal buffer” “insurance” Tresiba or Lantus provide.
for me it was exactly the opposite. Being on Lantus for years with MDIs it was a nightmare. It was only once I went on the Omnipod that things got better. My Endo said that it was obvious having basal being drip fed into my system as fast acting insulin was what my body needed. She said that she found a good percentage of her patients had better control this way, than using Lantus which is problematic for many people. For me,Lantus meant having hypos virtually every single night between 2 and 4am no matter how high my bg was before I went to bed and no matter how it was adjusted. The first night on the Omnipod, no hypos and it's been like that for 10 years since I started.
So is the current DIY loop “loop 2.0”?
the current loop is 3.0+
Sounds wonderful but please is tubeless coming? Apple Watch sounds optimistic! Tubeless is so preferred for young kids, hopeful
I wilo be swithcing back to Iphone once this come out.
Is there any system available for a child 5 -7 years old ?? Tipe 1 Born
Omnipod is filled through pharmacy
Very sad to see that the algorithm is old and built in but if this allowed for external Bluetooth app control and worked with iAPS then it would be good. But it can’t do that, which dooms it to be worse than Omnipod DASH.
Is this pump tubeless?
I’m mody / type 1diabetic I’ll be get blood test in may to see which type iam for sure so they can treat me better ❤❤ I’m like Libre 3 so far n just on insulin pens for now
I don’t understand how micro boluses would work as insulin still takes 4 hours to work - they can’t make insulin that works as fast as a normal pancreas yet.
Just the same as a anything else IAPS half the time shuts off the basal and uses bolus for food and keep you stable. My bolus/basal ratio is like 85/15 lol
Insulin works in 10 minutes.
Im confused why being able to bolus from a smart watch is new news … I can bolus from my smart phone
many pumps still dont allow that. Also, this one can be controlled by an Apple Watch.
Open source and DIY are two different things.
very true, but they can co-exist as well. I plan to call them open source moving forward as DIY makes it sound like people are really doing it themselves when "DIY" diabetes apps are often a huge community of people working on open source content.
narhi kancha ekan
No to a tube
Again advice still says adivce
its fixed for future episodes ;)
@@diabe_tech I’ve noticed on yesterday’s, thanks
Hmmm....He doesn't impress me to the point I would trust myself on this device. "We have a small team." Good luck finding support. How is Twist better for my diabetes than 780G? I don't care as much about look as I do lowering my A1c and not having lows doing it. Show me the data.
