      Both could go up to 50km but in WT you can't lock anything past 23km, atleast with PGM's

      lighter projectiles are more affected by drag, therefore they cant travel as far as heavier objects
      thats why sniper bullets for guns are heavier for example

      @@zloll it is game limitation. After 23km you can't even lock your pod on the ground. It was 16km before they changed it to 23km after pantsir was added. It likely increases processing demand so they won't improve it unless they need to add another op SAM to USSR.

    and moving targets?

    • @Wotplaya4
      @Wotplaya4 Před rokem +4

      About 6km, you can launch before that, but only as long as the target starts moving when the missile is within 6km of the target. Target can deviate about 1 tank length (say 8m?) away from its original position to be picked up if it did move a little.
      On already moving targets, the seeker can track from a little beyond 6km, maybe 6.5km. Also depends on the size of the target, smaller targets can be only tracked from closer and larger ones from a little further.

      @@agustinf1372 such is the life of TV guided missiles, at least the plane comes with a targeting pod which does make them a lot more usable.
      They're not completely useless either, but I wouldn't only take TV munitions because they are not very reliable when used beyond tracking range, maybe 1 or 2 for quick opportunity kills when you do happen to fly close to the battlefield.
      I suspect SPAA (especially pantsir) will be shooting these PGMs down fairly easily. Since they are classified as missiles and not bombs, they can be destroyed by SAM proxy fuse.

      @@methal0-111 They fall under missiles when it comes to the game code, so they have the same problem as missiles that they are vulnerable to proxy fuse munitions and self destruct when losing a target.
