Trunks is pretty good. A few people I know have gotten to God with him on the digital client, and he's my main leader as well. He's just got a much higher learning curve than others, and Doto made a ton of misplays in this video. Which is fine, cause like... the leader takes a lot of practice to get good at.
@@Alino- I can see how being able to constantly replay cards (or force your opponent to do so) could be really good, it's just that awakening turn 2 is such a high risk move especially against a red deck
@@Tr0lliPop Well that depends on the deck you're playing. All the God rank players I know don't actually use Mai, since you mainly use Trunks' ability on your battle cards, and unless you're playing an aggro deck you don't REALLY want to be self-awakening unless you're at 5 life and going to 4.
Like running 4 SSJ Goten, 4 SSJ Kid Trunks, 4 three drop future trunks... that's 12 self awakeners. You really don't need the extra ones from mai.
@@Alino- So I suppose the general strat is moreso using 4-drop Gotenks and bottom-of-deck senders to constantly have a source of cards while building a hand advantage?

Also on that topic, fused Zamasu, and of course Gohan as he hasn’t been shown, maybe show it go through his life and then it ends with the red line and him snapping and going beast.

@@DotoDoya Definitely, they’re gonna cook, I know it’s pretty unlikely but I just want a little demo, I would play that endlessly until it actually releases. Even if it just has goku and vegeta, no transformations or they have ssj god and blue in a hypothetical demo. It’d be nice.
Hopefully you can get a chance to try this Doto, use the Sword of Hope to Power up Pilaf then use Trunk's ability to return & play Pilaf to return Sword of Hope cause it's considered an earthling card. That way you can cause some pressure to the match

Blue is very complicated to play, and yet can only just about do the things other colors can do easier. They need a buff in a big way, blue copers be damned. And with this upcoming booster, it looks like they're getting some sauce, like that 6 Cost Zeno boardwipe!

Trunks is a combo heavy deck utilizing pilaf and the one drop twins with shining sword slash to constantly have a 40k attacker

those 1 cost trunks draw cards plus pilaf combo are where its at for blue
Please don't disrespect my boi Trunks D: I main him Doto! He's actually insanely good against literally every color except Green if you have the right setup and strats.
TLDR: Use Mai to get to 4 life IMMEDIATELY and start bouncing your opponent's shit and your shit, maximizing your combos/guards and starving your opponent for cards; then only attack their battle cards until they're at 4 life or you can get out one of Trunks' 4 drop critical units. Legit it's actually a really good deck with the right setup! ;A;
Also you basically want to ignore the 7 card limit and just have as many cards as possible. Then when you drop down to 7 in late-game it'll be a nice buff!

Side note: Pilaf + Sword of Hope spam is so goated in Trunks decks that it's downright CARTOONISH--
I've seen dudes play blue and just recycle their entire hand with time 'sheen and pilaf so they can swing in with final hope slashes, it's high ceiling I feel but when you get good at it it's nice. I don't think it's great in this game where lower effort decks can stack up against it but I respect any trunks player who can pull it off and do it well! :D
I ain't ever gonna be that, but I respect those who are!
The problem is that Trunks has to draw REALLY good and do gymnastics to accomplish output anywhere near what characters like Broly and GokU7 can do simply and more consistently.

A Tip for Trunks: a lot of his power lies in bouncing HIS OWN CARDS.
Playing Haru/Maki twice by bouncing allows for some crazy numbers, you can protect your Pilaf loop while always using one to Combo, avoid your 30k Trunks from returning to the deck, attack twice with the same card by attacking then bouncing it and playing it again, its all about a good resource loop so you can pressure your opponents with big numbers while getting cards into your hand, so using the skill as removal with Mai on the field or to get rid of a blocker can still do wonders, but a lot of it is synergy from self bouncing.
And that is also, why he kinda sucks. Navigating these lines is COOL, but you always feel like youre doing more to get what other Leaders get for free or you only get access to this stuff too late...
Yeah, trunks is my set 1 main and I think he's honestly amazing, even though he has a higher learning curve than other leaders.
Though when set 2 comes out I am pretty hype for Merged Zamasu. That goon looks fun.

Trunks is actually really, really good, he is also really, really hard to play though. Requires extremely good deck building and gameplay with no mistakes, but if you do he is amazing.

I play blue with a Goku Black Leader & run a Goku Black deck & dominate now that I finally grinded out the cards I needed. I only use young Trunks & Gotenks in the deck, all the other Trunks cards suck (especially Sword of Hope)
My favorite play being: Bring out Goku Black L6 for 4 energy cause of leader skill. Then you can bring a card back from the drop, & when you attack with GokuB L6 you can summon Gotenks for free & activate his skill that brings back the Goten & Young Trunks. So you can summon a L6 & a L4 card for 4 energy & you get 3 cards back from your drop

I'm loving this game but damn trunks just disappeared after hitting plat, the deck is really good at midrange but sadly he has a subpar early game and the late is literally Green's game so he's never the strongest around, so sad for such a cool mechanic when awakened, I hope he gets better on set 2
Seems Sword of Hope is just a 1 hit wonder. It only worked in Super and never again.

Blue deck was my starting deck, and I gotta' say... it felt so bad to have a 7 card max game plan. Just kept getting swept late game every time, haha.
Well if by blue starting deck you mean the starter Vegeta, then the issue is Vegeta CAN get good momentum if you're able to pop awakening quick and keep swinging for 35k.
But in classic Vegeta fashion, while he's good when he's ahead, as soon as he starts losing, he loses pretty hard.
@vision4860 Though I did start with Vegeta, I soon after switched to Trunks. Trunks' ability to bounce to hand felt kind of underwhelming. If used on the opponent's cards, they keep their card advantage and can still use those cards to combo. It was decent sometimes, but it did feel worse than the 35K with Vegeta. Eventually, I did return to Vegeta deck, which IS better as you say, but I still don't like playing for a 7 card cap, haha.
@@killjoy_sunshine Yeah it's mostly agreed upon that Trunks is currently the worst leader.
Bouncing your opponent's cards to hand with him can occasionally be useful, but you don't want to bounce cards like the 1 costs that draw a card, or excavate and grab a care like Moah. He gets more value out of bouncing your own 1 cost cards like Pilaf.
From what I've seen, each Blue leader takes a very specific and very different build to benefit from their unique abilities.

Im not saying im proud of it, it just is what it is... poor guy
People put him on the 'bottom' of the tier lists because his deck requires you to be more active, and requires more effort to amount to what people consider 'equivalent power'. In reality I've never swung for 180k on a single attack in anything but a Trunks deck... Makes for an insane amount of pressure for low cost if you bounce your own cards and combo efficiently.

I see a lot of good Trunks decks. Honestly, only green feels broken because there is no support against 5+ and that is more than half of Green's deck. Beyond that, the cards should be, and are, extremely strong.

You had the cards to win both times, but you didn't really take advantage of them. Trunks might not be the best competitively but it can do so much more than this. You need to lean into Haru/Maki, the Pilaf loop, Trunks leader ability to bounce cards back to your hand and replay their ability (or saving the 2 drop 30k Trunks), stuff like that, you need to awaken as fast as possible and stay at 4 and under 7 cards but use 2 Pilaf to loop cards back from your drop.
