Another great video from TGV! Couple clarifications: the Perlon are adjustable in length via the buckle, so T you can shorten them up a bit if they're too long for ya! Also, the Combination straps are leather and canvas for a cool texture contrast. The final products are live and available on out site!

Hi, you can make a perlon strap shorter at the buckle end, by pulling it through underneath. That way you don't have to fold any of the strap back, giving a much nicer look. Love your videos, best watch videos on CZcams.

I tried wrist candy watch club's nato straps in two instances and I must respectfully disagree with you on the quality of there nato straps. On both, second day I had them, they started to fray on the adjustment holes. They are also made of flimsy nylon that franky feels very very cheap. I just got in my Shark Straps nato strap and the quality is substantially better. They are however significantly thicker, but they dont feel like a disposable item like wrist candy watch clubs nato straps. I cant say anything about WCWC other straps because i havent tried them yet, but i was truely disappointed in their nato. I cant emphasize that Shark straps are truely the superior nato strap. SUPER GREAT QUALITY.

got 2 or their perlons. looked quite good, overall quality was fine. i did have a major issue though.
one of them was an inch short which made adjusting the melted nylon ends to a comfortable position impossible. i took pictures and sent email requesting a replacement. they replied that they were adjustable and to allow for variance between them. multiple contentious emails, i came here. i wont order again.

Beautiful straps! A little trick for your spring bars tool. Go to your local hardware store and get some heat shrink tubbing just slightly bigger than the tool. Cut to size and with a lighter, shrink it to the tool covering the rough areas. You can thank me later, lol...

Some little tip on using a hole punch. To make it more comfortable, it makes sense to use a small piece (0.5"×0.5") of double-sided sticky tape to attach the plastic "anvil" (that white rectangular piece of plastic) to your table. It prevents it from slipping if your punch is not absolutely vertical. It's easy to remove afterwards. And a bit technologically better way to deal with too sharp surface of a springbar tool is to buy a piece of heat-shrink electric insulation tube (sold in DIY stores, hobby supply stores, hardware stores), put it over the tool handle and shrink it by holding it above the lighter flame. This isn't as cheap as taping, but gives a better grip and looks way more professional.

TGV this threaded ones you show (about 7 minutes into the video), the tip is glued down so there is no fraying. But don't you think there will be fraying around the hole you choose to wear the watch? Because we know that the holes are glued in good natos so there is no fraying there too.

I was inspired by your video to order some nato straps for my Speedy automatic; I have to say that the Speedy is perhaps (at least in my own experience) the most versatile when it comes to nato straps. What I mean is that the Speedy looks as great in a quality nato as it does in the SS bracelet. It most be its excellent balance of elegance and sportiness.
I tried other nato straps on my other watches (dress, sport, in between models), but for some reason or other I wasn't happy with the look. I know by previous videos that you also appreciated the Speedy's versatility.

Just rewatched this video after my perlon strap arrived and I wanted to tell you that you can make the perlon straps shorter! You can feed the strap through the buckle and fold it over. Just look at how the buckle is attached to the strap and you will see what I mean! This means that there will be no excess strap sticking out that needs to be folded over

My preferred way to go for a classy look;. really like those Italian leather straps. Very rich looking with a "thick" well tanned and supple strap. I think that it makes an average watch look "richer" and more expensive some how. Although, a good bracelet can add refinement sometimes. Dear TGV,
you should have a look at the spring bar tool by Burgeon. These are swiss made, high quality tools for abound $20. Comes with two forks (small for barcelets, large for straps). The neat thing is that the big fork is tapered on one side, so you can basically wedge/slide it between the strap and the lug. Further, they are made of a higher grade will which won't wear, bent or chip (and go scratch your lugs) like the cheap one tend to do.

I hear you, all I had before was a set of watchmaker tools off ebay that cost about half as much as this tool. Plus this is will last you a life time since the bits are replaceable (about $6 I think).
And while you're at it, maybe you may get yourself a pair of safety goggles, too, the way you set those spring bars flying!

That red/blue strap would look great with your Seiko "Pepsi" diver. And does ColaReb make straps that fit the Seiko 5 dress watches? I'm thinking of buying two of them (one with a black dial and one with a white dial), and if they do, my next purchase after the watches will be three leather straps, a black one for the black dial watch, and a black one and a brown one for the white dial watch. They would look great with the minimalist style of the Seiko 5 dress watches, making look similar to these minimalist "fashion" watches, but with much better quality, and no battery to replace! A great video as always!

I always put a bit of tape on the underside of the lugs to stop the spring bar scratching them as they are located. I'm a bit OCD like that!

Hi TGV I was wondering if you could make a video to speak about watch tools and which brand you'd recommend for changing watch straps and other repairs ect. I'm in the process of replacing the metal bracelet off my Seiko 5 SNKL23 to a black alligator Hirsch strap and I'd like to do it myself as I will be buying more straps in the future and don't want to go to a watch shop everytime I'd like to give my watches a new look.
    Thank you,
    Happy Seiko Saturday!

Funny you mention the similarities between the ColaReb and Squale leather straps. I thought the same exact thing. So, I compared the ones I own. Something tells me that ColaReb is already making their straps. Between the Squale and ColaReb straps I own, they are nearly identical with the only true difference being the buckle.

I was just thinking that blue/orange hybrid strap would work perfectly on a blue Squale and there you go! You mention that those are prototypes, I hope Watch Candy has them for sale soon as I want to buy that very strap for my blue Squale! I've also been interested in the P`erlons for a while so thanks for reviewing too. And wow those Colareb straps are fantastic. I'm thinking that chocolate would look great on my Trident Pro 600 (red bezel, black dial). That blue Colareb looks fantastic too! By the way, what do you think of deployant clasps - for nice straps like those from Colareb they can help keep the strap from getting beat up from buckling and and buckling. Thanks again! John

+John Price Hi John, all the products shown are now for sale, so please purchase away!
I agree that chocolate collared would look amazing on the red bezel trident.
Regarding deployment clasps, generally I like them but I am rather boring and really do like my old school buckle. Thanks for the comment,

Mine came with the untreated tan leather pretty much the same as the colareb. I decided to go with the milanese bracelet for a change up but have rarely used it. It's nice but not nearly as striking as the vintage leather.

8:45 "I wouldn't be surprised if Colareb [has] a contract with a luxury watch maker to maker their straps."
I believe that Squale's leather straps are made by Colareb. I know this because I bought one of the tan straps from Squale through Long Island Watches because I liked the look for one of my watches. Price was like $90. Only later, thru watching videos like yours did I figure out that it is probably a Colareb strap (has the "Vera Pelle/Made in Italy marking, same style, etc.) except with a Squale buckle. If I ordered direct from Colareb I would have saved $30-$40 and had a plain buckle so it wouldn't not match up with any non-Squale watch I paired the strap with. Oh well, live and learn.

I just bought the SARB033 and I am thinking about buying a leather strap for it. The first strap that comes to mind is the Colareb Roma Vintage Dark Brown (the one that you have in the video). Although I like the watch strap itself I am thinking that it might be to 'rustic' looking for the SARB033.
    What do you think?
Would love your input on the matter.

I there just so many other watches im kind of lost. Back on topic, the squale also looks great on those blue straps. What do you do about lost or worn spring bars?
