My husband and I got married almost four years ago today. When we pulled into our driveway (it was our first night staying at new house together) he had put this on repeat on the record player. So when we opened the front door, he carried me over the threshold, and all I can remember is how beautiful a time it was. This song holds those memories, and I always find myself coming back to visit this beautiful song.
Thank you!! We are still married- celebrating our 7th year anniversary on August 10th! Like I said 3 years ago, I always find my way back to this song. along with all the other Bon Iver songs! Thank goodness they released a new song today, right? Time to make some more memories!
“‘Towers’ is the name of the dormitory that I lived in in college; it’s made up of these two towers - North and South - my girlfriend lived in one and I lived in the other. It’s about falling in love, but also about what happens when you’ve long fallen out of love and those reminders are still there. You drive by them, these two buildings, and you look, and you realize that we really built that up. That we really built that love into these things, and for a long time afterward looking at them really made me feel sad; to see these empty buildings that I don’t go in to anymore. But then, as time goes on, they start to become kind of joyous in their own way: you can look at them and think ‘that love was great and these buildings still stand tall’. But there’s also an element of the fact that they’re just buildings - they’re gonna fall down one day, and they’re not that important because there’s new love in your life and you’ve got to break things down that get built up.” - Justin Vernon
Bon Iver is a rare treasure. Each and every one of his songs puts me in a state of absolute bliss. It is not an ignorant bliss, either; I am very aware of all my troubles, but momentarily at peace with them. Thank you.
Indeed the best description for this song. It's such a strange feeling, I've got some much on my mind but when listening to Bon Iver I feel, indeed, at peace with all my problems.

I've been trying to explain to myself in a rational way what happens to me when I hear a piece of Bon Iver. I fail at all the time. The musicality and lyricism that I find in these pieces of art I find nowhere else. When I listen to Justin's songs and his parallel works I feel connected with forces much greater than me. I feel fragile, strong and exposed. And at the same time. How happy I am to know this work that has brought me so much joy since my adolescence. I find myself in the lines of each composition. This is beautiful. That is expression. This is meaningful production of art. Man, you rock. Thank you.
"Towers" is the best Bon Iver song by far. I'm not saying that the others are bad, but this one is extremely deep, it makes me feel so sad and happy at the same time.

That's my absolute favorite song of the band. There aren't words which could describe all the emotions which are coming by listening this song. I could cry, laugh and scream the lyrics - all at the same time!

This was the first Bon Iver song i heard, from then on i've been addicted :) This will always be my favorite of theirs and i hope they get back together because their music is literally heaven.
spending time in Eau Claire in my youth, this song really hits home for me. sweet, sad, cryptic. i'm in love with the immense emotion i feel when i hear this song.
The simple coupling of the guitar riff and Justin's vocals inspires such a profound sense of reliving all of my pleasant firsts and it leaves me with a delicate optimism for the future, quietly invoking all I can become and how far I've come already.
This song made me realize how hard we work towards something in our lives just for it to be knocked down. You have to live each day like it will be your last because you will never know when it will be your last. Live your life for you and no one else :)

I just love all the music from Bon Iver - very special musically and lyrically
so many memories to this song. reminds me of the times where my friends were my family and we lived in a bubble of joy
The first time i saw this video, i thought that the man featured here was the same boy from the holocene video, just many years later when he's older. :) Love the song, video, Bon Iver...
That's my absolute favorite song of the band. There aren't words which could describe all the emotions which are coming by listening this song. I could cry, laugh and scream the lyrics - all at the same time!
it's amazing when music get in touch with your emotions in such a way 😊

Bon Iver's music is timeless!
music to heal your soul
Just saw Bon Iver tonight in Dublin, Ireland - what a genius. It was such an emotional gig for him and the audience.
spending time in Eau Claire in my youth, this song really hits home for me. sweet, sad, cryptic. i'm in love with the immense emotion i feel when i hear this song.
Bon iver, Brad Murphy, William Fitzsimmons xx
Why would anyone dilslike this? 295 broken hearts i'm guessing.
really nice scenery in the video! And beautiful music as always!
The simple coupling of the guitar riff and Justin's vocals inspires such a profound sense of reliving all of my pleasant firsts and it leaves me with a delicate optimism for the future, quietly invoking all I can become and how far I've come already.
When I listen to this song I remember the last day in my school😔

Woah! Magnifique allégorie. I love it !
This song made me realize how hard we work towards something in our lives just for it to be knocked down. You have to live each day like it will be your last because you will never know when it will be your last. Live your life for you and no one else :)
