My husband and I got married almost four years ago today. When we pulled into our driveway (it was our first night staying at new house together) he had put this on repeat on the record player. So when we opened the front door, he carried me over the threshold, and all I can remember is how beautiful a time it was. This song holds those memories, and I always find myself coming back to visit this beautiful song.

“‘Towers’ is the name of the dormitory that I lived in in college; it’s made up of these two towers - North and South - my girlfriend lived in one and I lived in the other. It’s about falling in love, but also about what happens when you’ve long fallen out of love and those reminders are still there. You drive by them, these two buildings, and you look, and you realize that we really built that up. That we really built that love into these things, and for a long time afterward looking at them really made me feel sad; to see these empty buildings that I don’t go in to anymore. But then, as time goes on, they start to become kind of joyous in their own way: you can look at them and think ‘that love was great and these buildings still stand tall’. But there’s also an element of the fact that they’re just buildings - they’re gonna fall down one day, and they’re not that important because there’s new love in your life and you’ve got to break things down that get built up.”
    - Justin Vernon

For the love, I'd fallen on
    In the swampy August dawn
What a mischief you would bring, young darling
When the onus is not all your own
When you're up for it before you've grown
    Whoa-whoa
    From the faun forever gone
In the towers of your honeycomb
I'd have tore your hair out just to climb back, darling
When you're filling out your only form
Can you tell that it's just ceremon'?
Now you've added up to what you're from
    Whoa-whoa
Build your tether rain-out from your fragments
Break the sailor's table on your sacrum
Fuck the fiercest fables, I'm with Hagen
For the love, comes the burning young
From the liver, sweating through your tongue
Well, you're standing on my sternum
    Don't you climb down, darling
Oh, the sermons are the first to rest
Smoke on Sundays when you're drunk and dressed
Out the hollows where the swallow nests

I've been trying to explain to myself in a rational way what happens to me when I hear a piece of Bon Iver. I fail at all the time. The musicality and lyricism that I find in these pieces of art I find nowhere else. When I listen to Justin's songs and his parallel works I feel connected with forces much greater than me. I feel fragile, strong and exposed. And at the same time. How happy I am to know this work that has brought me so much joy since my adolescence. I find myself in the lines of each composition. This is beautiful. That is expression. This is meaningful production of art. Man, you rock. Thank you.

Deep down inside, I knew everything was okay. I cant get enough of it. But the one thing that pops into my mind when I hear this, is my uncles house. The houses are few and far apart. The two things that have helped me the most. This song, and that house.

This song will always remind me of a boy far along... we started the year of us in last August's swampy dawn. Both too young to know better, we were up for it before we've grown. And so it went on, with us drunk on Bon Iver and intoxicated by each others presence. The skinny love that lasted just for a year, beacuse even if we told each other to be, we weren't patient, kind, balanced or fine. So now it's over (we knew it might be over soon) and i'm singing a song for a lover of long ago.
Maybe it was all in my head, but I think someday my pain will mark you..

This song came on around 2 in the morning as I was lying in bed, and it evoked this longing in me. For the first time in my life I felt this aching in my heart for a partner. About a year later I would meet my current girlfriend, and I played this song as we lay in bed together after our first date. This song will always hold a special place in my heart

Each person is a walking song. Our heartbeat, our breath, our laugh, our yells and screams all together tells a story that differs from person to person yet we can all relate to. That is why music has no race or religion, no age nor job. It is a universal house and anybody is invited inside. So wipe your feet and enter our house of spiritual communication and language and forget about everything for one second and let us take you on a journey.
