Using Iron Nitrate, Aging Brass, and stock patches | Kibler Kit Assembly Class Day 3 | NMLRA

  • During day 3, students begin layering the color of stains on their stocks, install a stock patch, age some brass hardware, and begin intentionally adding rust to their iron hardware.
    In this video series, you will follow along with 8 students as they build their own kibler kits under the tutilage of professional longrifle builders Mike Brooks and Wayne estes.
    At 8am at the NMLRA Education Center in Friendship, Indiana, students arrived and began setting up for Mike Brooks' Kibler Kit Assembly Class. We've got 8 students here this week, all of various skill levels building a new rifles.

    Mr. Kibler is in his own league. Great work, never underestimate how mentally taxing teach and doing video really is. 4:14 the dude is wearing one of our shirts...really neat.

    Having just finished my first kit build, I wish I had seen these videos first. A lot of the troubles here are the same I ran into, and a lot of the hand fitting would have helped me immensely; I'm happy with the way my build turned out, but there is just so much I wish I had known, going in to it.

    When he glues the patch to the stock, I would wrap the barrel in ONE layer of thin plastic wrap that way the glue won't stick it the barrel. Just a suggestion.

    Oof that part at the end showing the spalting in the grain that led to the chip probably in the first place.. How does Q.C. let that out of the barn?

    how does one become a part of one of these sessions? It looks like there are "students" in the background, and sometimes they ask questions... I have been watching these videos and I would love to learn alongside these gentlemen. Looks like a bucket list experience.
