      Right. I think they're full 💩
      They just don't want to use desert sand in fear of digging up remnants of an ancient civilization so old they'd have to rewrite history. I think the pyramids and the Sphinx are way older than they claim.

      we can use desert sand for construction. We have done it before, and some places people are still doing it. I won't name which specific countries, but when you hear about buildings just falling apart in a few years after construction for no appararent reason. That is because they are using bad gradient desert sand. There is a whole black market in filtering in desert sand to pass as river sand. They mix up the batch, or just plain lie by pre-making the concrete mixture without water.
      Truth be told, you could get plenty of useable sand with the proper properties and gradients. However, that would be astronomically more expensive, as you need to filter, wash, and test the sand over and over. You might get 2-5% of good sand equal to river sand, out of the same volume for both. Taking short cuts, just means disasters await.

      @@yummychips_ Was going to say that. The sand would have to be chemically treated to make it more craggy and that would make the price jump astronomically as well and be a labor intensive process.

    It's really very ironic that desert sand is useless even for construction. Not for casting either, it's almost like a cursed soil bare of any life or purpose.

    • @HepCatJack
      @HepCatJack Před 3 lety +8

      @John M beach sand is not smoother, that's where sand pirates go steal it to bring it to China. Beach sand is freshly made by the ocean causing erosion on rock formations. Desert sand is millions of years old, is tiny and polished smooth.
      If Desert sand could be used that's where the sand pirates would go instead of digging up beaches and taking it from the foundation of bridges.

    We could still mix it with other micro synthetics, micro rebars along with rocks as aggregate. We can definitely use rounded sand that it will get compressed better.. all we need is micro-rebars and other plastics to add in

    Could you put the sand into a mineral washing unit with a molecular separator similar to a desalinization used on boats to separate out the individual components in the sand? Could those individual elements then be remixed in a more suitable configuration for building? Perhaps put some of those individual elements through further processing before remixing to create a final product? Would any other inputs be necessary or could you find all you need from the sand? Sorry I don’t 😅 have a lot of formal or in-depth knowledge but rather a lot of varied and broad knowledge.

    if there would be a way to make glass of it .. couldnt u fill it with sand then and make big mega structures ... u could maybe boil seawater in glass then, delivered from far away of course .. megastructures could provide shadow then .. and some solar panals on top ... or mirrors collecting light ... so u have water shadow .. energy and light and allready the storage for it --> ergo u could build some oasis inmidst the dessert then and endlessly expand it .. just wondering if it could work when build in some appropriate scale with glass and sand together .. or compress the sand and bake it with so much solar energy 2 bundle .. there just must be a way 2 use all the sand

    desert sand has little use; the grains are too smooth and fine to bind together, so it is not suitable for the making of for instance concrete. This sand is not used in construction, as its grains are too smooth and fine to bind together for building materials.
