I just discovered your channel and immediately subscribe. I'm starting my grown up gap year next year at 40.
We stopped working to travel in September last year, and thought about doing house sitting, but we didn't want to pay the sign up fee without guarantee of getting one without having a first review. This is great advice. Thanks!

Thanks LaTisha! I really appreciate it! I always thought I was a dog person...until I started taking care of cats. Cats are sooo much easier. 😺

Yay!
I was wondering how flexible you are to leave for a short period of time. For example, can you leave for a couple hours during the day to visit? Or if I would like to spend one or two nights in another town, could I do that? Thank you for your videos! It's inspiring and makes traveling seem possible!! :)
I like your shirt! Do you get tips when done siting on TrustedHousesitter?
Thanks! No cash tips, but often little gifts when they return from their travels. And sometimes food.
Subscribed.
This is very good. You only need stopping me is I have a little Maltese yorkie.
Your hair has grown alot since this video
Hi! Thank you! Do we need any type of insurance or LLC set up to do this?
Hi Stephanie I just started watching your channel and I am very interested in house sitting. My husband and I are both retired and love to travel. I have a question regarding credit scores. Are there any credit requirements you must have?
Join TrustedHousesitters to house sit worldwide: tidd.ly/9328175b
And sign up with Rover to get paid for domestic pet sits: sit.rover.com/v2VWC
These are affiliate links.
So to give myself some clarity, now that you've been round the mill a few times, you are able to charge for house sitting, and on the side you're a freelance writer, guessing you can do that wherever you are? That sounds really lucrative to me.
I'm new to your channel and house sitting. Is the going rate 25 I was told 25 to 75 a day. Thank you so much for your help and info.
Best country to start house sitting
Can I make this a side hustle thing or this only full-time ?
Great content. I'm very interested in house sitting. I dont see the link for the pitch letter?
Sorry about that. Here’s the link to get the pitch letter template. housesit.vaycarious.com/template
Happy travels! 💗

Will some ppl allow you to bring your own pet/dog? We have an older beagle. Thanks.
(1-15-2024) Good information. Thanks for sharing.😊😊😊😊
How much do you get paid for an arranged house sit?
How do you possibly cover any expenses you have to get to and travel within the vicinity.
Do they provide a car? etc.
💕
I wish you did ❤❤❤
Any one know about insurance ? I would to market and start locally and maybe use trusted house sitters to get references. But I am unsure what type of insurance I would need to protect myself from property damage or pets passing away anyone know the answer to this......thanks in advance
I don't prefer either cats or dogs even though I grew up with both. A dog bit me once in Virginia and after that me and dogs are a no no. 😥
Hi beautiful lady. I really want to try house sitting but do have to accept pets? Also I’d like to start just in my area. Tampa Florida and surrounding area is that possible because I can’t quite my job yet.
I just want to do it part time local. I don't want to do travel housesitting.
Is it worth signing up with Rover if I only want to look after cats?
I was a little disappointed when you mentioned the first website was an unpaid arrangement, but I wonder would you still be able to use those houses as references?
Are you licensed and bonded, or is it not necessary to be bonded or licensed? Thank you very much! 🌞Timothy
Do they pay for it flights? Abroad
I am moving to Costa Rica next year can I do house sitting there too and how much can I charge per night.
She said if you go through trusted house sitters they don't pay. If you get a referral from someone, you can charge them
Lol, so much for house sitting. Time to get a real job.
There’s a $49 fee to sign up for rover at least at sign up for background check
Hello beautiful. Housesitters link is not working 😢
Does the client usually pay your travel to and from their home or is that a in fact considered as a form of payment?
Moniquecolous S Garner-Weeks No, most of the time travel to and from the house sit isn’t covered. But I just finished a house sit where they did pay for my flight to them because it was a last-minute emergency. You could possibly negotiate it, but it’s not the norm.
Can you house sit if you have a pet of your own? Like a well behaved cat.
Hi there! I find it most difficult to ask to be paid for a house sit as I worry that the home owner will turn away and I risk loosing the house sit. Is there anything you can recommend on how to approach this topic?
I find that if the house sit comes with more than a couple of pets, people expect to pay though. With word of mouth house sits, usually the client asks if I ‘m available for X dates and I say “Yes, and my fee is $Y per day.” If you’d still be willing to do the house sit without pay, follow up with them if they go silent on you and let them know your rate is negotiable.
@@StephaniePerry. Hello, I was curious on how you found a way to charge for the 'word of mouth' since the friends referring didn't pay?
How about Facebook house sitting jobs are they legit? Some pay $800 a week
You said you don't get paid for housesitting but at the end you said you charged 10-25$ a day. I'm confused lol
House sits that you book through Trusted Housesitters are unpaid. But if you book a house sit on your own, like through word-of-mouth, you can charge them.
House sitter cuts costs money
How can I do housesitting paid jobs? trustedhousesitters doesn't pay
You'd have to book paid house sits through word of mouth referrals. Connect with pet groomers and veterinarians and ask if you can leave your business cards there.
@@StephaniePerrythanks a lot, I’m in Seattle right now doing unpaid housesits (THS) but looking forward to do it as a job ($25 per day would be nice)
How do you make a living off of just making $25 or less a day?
I'm also a Virtual Assistant. And since I spend time in very inexpensive places, I don't have to work much.
@@StephaniePerry how did you become a virtual assistant? I am looking for a job I can do remotely however i know no one that has a remote job so im not sure how people get into that kind of work.
Cats or dogs? 😸🐶
I like both but I'll always have a soft spot for dogs. Feels like a cat is a roommate not a pet lol
Cats definitely! Or dogs with a doggy door so they can go freely to the backyard 😂
AMAZING episdoe Steph! one thing: maybe explain what "an ex pat" is ( I googled it! ha) LOVE THIS GIRL!@ GREAT IDEAS! TYSM!
I am a college student in Toronto, Canada. I am very inspired by this option as it may help me meet several of my goals. My dream would be to get a house sit in the Province of Quebec. Why? First of all, my dream has always been to become proficient in Canadian French. Secondly, as a student, I need to minmize the amount I spend on rent but at the same time, have basic amenities such as wi-fi, access to a kitchen, desk, bed, heat, etc.. Thirdly, my classes this year will be online due to the pandemic, so I figure I can be anywhere (I prefer to be in either Ontario and Quebec) and if I can do my studies remotely, as well as gain proficiency in a new language this 2020-21 academic year while living in an environment where I could practice , would be a dream come true.
