I am almost 65. I just got Medicare info package in mail yesterday. Going to read it today. BUT, what has ALWAYS puzzled me is: Once you've paid premiums for years and years, and haven't gotten sick, and you DO finally get sick, now you have a "co-pay", a "deductible", and then 20% of the final bill, you've ALREADY PAID FOR MOST OF YOUR BILL WAY AHEAD OF TIME!!!! Why is a "co-pay" any different from a partial "deductible"??? And why pay 20% when you've paid premiums for maybe decades???!!! I haven't even gotten a cold for over thirty years! Please tell me how Medicare isn't a load of crap!

@@MrDANGitall Just ask the people who have been sick and their insurance prevented bankruptcy. I will bet dimes to donuts you have insurance on your house, your car maybe even your life. The objective of health insurance is to prevent financial catastrophe when you are sick or injured. It's so you do not have to go back to work or declare bankruptcy. It's not to pay every bill.

@@MedigapSeminars ---> What's up with the co-pay, and the 20%, after I've paid, and paid...and paid??! When my truck get hit, I just pay the deductible, and then they FIX it.

:-) What's up with having to buy all this gas to drive my truck? All these payments for the truck and it doesn't even work without gas.
If you want to just pay a small deductible and everything else is done, get a Medigap Plan G. All you paid for from payroll taxes is Medicare Part A. That's it. Everything else is extra.

Case: Have Medicare and a Medigap Plan C [in Michigan, only Plan C and A are allowed for people under 65]. Now, approaching 65, and my understanding is I can transfer into Medicare as age allowed vice disability. How does that work? WIll I get notice from Medicare about this new enrollment opportunity, such that I can elect a different plan? Have also heard Plan C is being discontinued in 2020 or coverage is being changed such that Plan C will require co-pays, except if one is already enrolled, you are grandfathered in to the current coverage. Thanks in advance.

This is the BEST and most THOROUGH explanation I've seen or heard. For us ADD seniors it is quiet, appropriately paced, and articulate. Every time I try to read the literature from many sources, my eyeballs roll around in my head and I get frustrated and give up. This presentation kept my attention, he explains a bunch of stuff and then goes back and reviews and summarizes. Visual aids also make it easier to focus and remember. Thank you very much and I will contact your group when I'm ready to shop for a plan :) :)

Thank you for explaining everything about MEDICARE and how it works, as well as its supplements. I jumped into this MEDICARE thing without clearly understanding how it works. But now, I finally understand. Your presentation was short but concise. And it just confirmed that I made a good choice. At that time, I had no one to ask or to explain the details of how MEDICARE works.
However, the problems I encountered were more from the providers' clinical staff. I don't think they fully understand how MEDICARE works. I think they're the ones who also need this kind of orientation more than the beneficiaries. I had several instances where I have to explain that I am on MEDICARE but they insist that I should get a primary physician and a referral before they could attend to me. For this part, I really get confused. I think some of them are not yet ready to accept MEDICARE patients.

re: "However, the problems I encountered were more from the providers' clinical staff. I don't think they fully understand how MEDICARE works" OMG YES!! It is such a common problem that Medicare has very clear fines if a complaint is filed and staff is found lacking. There are medical facilities and many, many agent that use my material for training. I was giving a talk in Charleston a couple weeks ago, sponsored by a friend and CZcams Medicare competitor. Over 100 agents paid a lot of $$ to hear me speak. I was amazed by how many told me they used my videos to learn Medicare. It was a fun weekend.

He has been a great agent over the years and trust his advice. So, this concerning now. Thank you so much for your time in information. I will watch the Part D video to see what I should do. Again, much thanks for making a video that I did not fall asleep with repetitious explanations. I understood it very well. This is my first at Medicare and it is not easy to grasp all that is needed to choose from at once.

Awesome video. I did the mandatory Medicare part A when I turned 65. My husband already has insurance with his work, so I didn't sign up for Med B He is also a Veteran. When I signed up for Med A, the Veterans said they would no longer cover me unless I had Medicare B. A prescription that I paid 3$ for went to 65$. I went into the hospital the other day because I thought I was having unusual blood pressure and it calmed down when I was in there thankfully. Because I did not get an overnight stay or admitted, the Medicare A did not cover it. Also, we have a problem here because no dermatologist will take medicare or veterans insurance.

My husband and I didn't understand anything about Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement and did not really understand the difference. Your video was extremely informative. My husband enrolled just before the deadline this past Dec. He called Kaiser first to enroll in a medicare supplement but couldn't. He'd have to supply previous medical info and he would have to pay a premium which was not in the budget. He ended up enrolling in a medicare advantage plan with United Healthcare/AARP with $0 premium which is great. We're not thrilled with the fact that you don't have freedom to choose your own doctor, but the $0 premium w/low co pays took prescedent. You mentioned in video that the medicare advantage plans can change yearly and you have to enroll every year during enrollment period. We wish we had seen your video long before now. The information is very helpful for me. I want to be better prepared for when my time comes to enroll. Thank you for sharing this valuable info with us!
