How To Know Which Side Your Petrol / Diesel / Gas Filler Cap Is On In A New Or Unfamiliar Car!

I didn't know this for years, that the little fuel pump icon on your dashboard, with its small arrow, as how's you which side of the car your petrol cap is on!

A better way is to look what side it’s on before you get in.As many many models don’t have that.

If there is no arrow then it will be on the side that the hose is shown on the bowser icon (right hand side)
I recently found I exception to this rule and it was on a Renault mini bus. I have known about this for over 20 years. Another possible exception can be on commercial vehicles (Inc trucks etc) where the manufacturer supplies the vehicle as a cab chassis and a 3rd party installs a body in which case they may change the side of the filler.
