Nope! There's this American CZcamsr, I think Rabona TV. The English guy doing "Shorts" (I never really checked out his channel). Alfie from HITC Sevens is also up-to-date with German football! Even with South American leagues/clubs. His clips are very informative, if you want to know more about football then just the "big five" leagues. Together with Football Iconic, he's my favorite football channel on CZcams. I just enjoyed "What On Earth Is Going On At Bordeaux?" These two lads are the pinnacle of football CZcamsrs!
Before Xabi, Leverkusen only had 3 trophies, last one being won in 92/93 which was the German Cup Winner Since Xabi, they have added 3 trophies to their cabinet. Even if Leverkusen don't win this season but end up in the CL, it's fair to say that he's done something right
@user-xm6ro1ep5d Actually they just had two reall trophies (so not 2. Bundesliga champion and regional Cups) before Xabi came (UEFA Cup 1989 and DFB Pokal 1993). Therefore they won more reall trophies in the last 4 month than in the rest of their 120 year old history.
I really love the point on talent retention. Leverkusen looks like a team that has convinction and the desire to build a new top level competing dynasty (a la City, Bayern, Liverpool, Real Mad, etc) as opposed to becoming a talent mine for those teams (a la Ajax, Brighton). I find this both interesting and respectable in an era where dynasties are typically being afforded to the highest bidder and commitment to a team/club seems less important to players and staff. I think this makes the statement on “being top 4” all the more compelling, Alonso seems to be chasing sustainability. Honestly power to them, I hope they pull it off, although it will be a long haul and they have some history to build! It would be a fun shift in the dynamic of football today. I’d quite like it.
I'll be honest, Football Iconic is the only football youtuber I actually have notifications on to see the latest video. Just solid narration and topics.
There are some reasons that the top 4 comment from Alonso is not as ridiculous as it seems. Of course Leverkusen are very top. They still have the squad, they have even strengthened atleast the depth of the squad and basically did not loose key players except maybe Stanisic who went back to Bayern. Maybe Tah might still leave to Barca or Bayern but that would still leave them with Odilon (I don't want to write his last name), Tapsoba and Hincapie who all three have proved to be elite defenders last year. And they brought in Belocian who seems promising. If you ask me Tah will stay and that leaves them with basically last years squad + new depth players in Garcia and Terrier. So yes they look like the number one contenders. Bayern really looked strong going into this season. They had Stanisic as an elite RB/CB who really improved under Alonso. Boom injured. They then signed Ito, stable defender, great ball progression, left footed. Boom injured. If they sign Tah the De Ligt sale will make sense to me but until then we will have sold our most stable defender under value in my opinion. I understand why they would do it. De Ligt is not as good with the ball as others and Kompany needs defenders who are good with the ball as well as Bayern defenders should typically have that quality. But I still think for now defensive stability should be more focused on especially looking at the champions league. But that is a long way still and Stanisic and Ito will be back until than and it is time for Upamecano and Minjae to show more stability. Some of the instability might also be to underestimating Wolfsburg. In the cup match before and often against Wolfsburg the build up was done with three at the back where Neuer was one of the center backs leaving Minjae and Upa wide. In the first half this worked but in the second that was relentlessly attacked leading to the two goals against. Still the team looked hungrier and Thomas Müller might be in a second prime. The uncle is still fit indeed. He really stabilized the game and was a good addition from the bench in his 709th (record ) game for the club. As a Bayern fan im quite positive going into the season but it is very early to really rate it. I’m really looking forward to the 5th Matchday when it is Bayern vs Bayer. Dortmund should not be underestimated. They cooked in the Transfermarket. Every player seemed to be a hit. Anton, Guirassy and Beier are top targets but Groß should not be underestimated. He gives what they lost in Bellingham: Ball progression. They look really strong especially since their young player like Jamie Gittens seemed to have improved a lot and Süles transformation basically gave them a new elite defender for free this summer. If it goes well they could really be contention for Leverkusen and Bayern and should not be underestimated. It just has to be seen how much of their CL Black magic came from Terzic and how much came from Sahin last season. But a CL finalist who massively improved their squad should definitely not be rouled out. Leipzig round out the top 4. They really haven’t done much flashy stuff in the transfer market. But I’d still argue they have improved. They lost Olmo who is a great player but was injured a lot. Nusa really hit the mark and they got Vermeeren as well. But the biggest point is going to be their young attackers getting better. Simons, Openda and Sesko are all still there and they really improved over the course of last season. All of them in that form from the start is scary. And as much as I dislike Leipzig they are basically the same team that last year only went out due to refereeing decisions against Real Madrid in the Champions League. All of the top 4 look like they can be really dangerous if they hit the right streak like Leverkusen did last year. Rose at Leipzig is a proven great coach. Kompany and Sahin are Wild cards like Alonso was a just 2 seasons prior. Regarding Stuttgart: I will place them in a “next two” category with Frankfurt. Both of those teams should really be in the top 6 or top 7 as not playing internationally I would count as a disappointment. On the other hand they should challenge for the CL spots (Top 4) but not expect them. Also some of the upper middle class teams in Wolfsburg, Gladbach and Freiburg look really good as well so far.
I see myself watching more and more Bundesligs and even the 2nd Bundesliga. The fans, the emotions... I cant put my finger on it, but somehow I am even more hyped for the 2nd Bundesliga with ex giants like Schalke Nuremberg and Hertha than for the prem (although the EPL is fire this year). Just so many storylines from the last seasons!
You have to admit Bayern was very convincing in the first half vs Wolfsburg and probably deserved a penalty in that first half from the Wolfsburg Handball.
Love the content and your delivery style! Best thing the algorithm has done for me in a long time! Keep it up 👍 love the Bundesliga coverage in English
I would not overhype Leverkusen. Their first game against Stuttgart was a Draw, only scoring the equalizer at the very end of the match (again). But since Leverkusens squad remained fully intact and even got stronger over the summer Stuttgart lost their best players to Bayern and Dortmund (Guirassy, Anton, Ito) And in their second game they only won by a goal in the 101 minute, which is the latest goal in Bundesliga history (again). But Mönchengladbach is a mid sized team thats usualy somewhere in the midtable. Thats like cheering for ManCity because the won against Brighton at the last minute.
It's the first time I see someone change a video title 3 times on release. The original title was "The inevitable team has come back" ( or something along the lines), second one was " It's business as usual in Germany", and now this one. As for the content, it's good analysis as always.
"They cant keep getting away with this" and they nearly DIDNT. That defence looks very shaky and they were fortunate with that 90+10' penalty and how it rebounded from the keeper back to Wirtz's foot.
He made around 15 million a year without even being an undisputed starter (just for reference Mbappe apart from his other contract details earns about 15 million as well). He also isn't very progressive in his passing and wouldn't fit in Kompanys system. De Ligt might not have looked bad at all in Tuchels System but Kompanys is more demanding offensively and we would probably see him struggling more clearly this season. It's just a cost/benefit consideration at the end of the day. He would be great though if he just earned less, then I would even sign a petition for him to stay lol.
I dont think they will have it easy this season. Last year, they had the same starting 11 almost every bundesliga game before christmas, while in the europa league they were using many players who only had substitute roles in the Bundesliga. This year, CL group matches must be taken more serious, and there will be more CL group stage games then we used to have.
You can never plan for anything better than top 4, even in Germany, unless you are Bayern. It would be stupid of Alonso to say anything else before the season.
As a Bayern fan who didn’t watch that match I was just left baffled about how there was 10 minutes of added time in that match 😂. I was not surprised that when given that time they would score a last minute goal
The main reason why Leverkusen could hold onto the talent is that they're financially backed by Bayer, a massive pharma company. Tah is a good example. He is going into his last year and they could have made eight figures from selling him. Don't know exactly what sums where in talk but it should've been around 20m. Hardly any other BL club could just say "no thank you" and let the contract run down. Even Bayern tries to avoid it.
Bundesliga will be pretty exciting I guess. Xabi Alonso(Leverkusen), Nuri Sahin (Dortmund) and Stuttgart (Sebastian Hoeneß) all have a possession based agressive phillosophy who wanna control the game and create chances. The time of free league titles for bayern munich is over. Bayern still is the benchmark for sure but at least they have some serious challengers now.
As a Bayern fan I’m not to hyped for this season. I’m unsure of Kompany as a coach, but I think he should get a few games of time for all of the turmoil to calm down a bit

I don't want to be negative about stuff, but tbf Leverkusen's signature "winning after the 90th" was more of a thing that started in the second half of the season, which was understandable as you'd suppose the players would've been pretty tired by playing that kind of football for all year. Starting right away their new season like that, I think it's a bit worrying though. Also, Atalanta have shown how to beat them, and in an outstanding way too. If they face a smarter manager with better players, they're not going to do the same thing they did before facing Atalanta. It's just too much intensity. I want to think they can win it again, but I just don't think it will happen. I could be wrong though. I want to see them against Dortmund and Bayern Munich before being absolutely sure of anything.
I can't believe you didn't even mention the brace from my boi Jamie; he has always been that player that was shining with potential but up until recently he lacked clinical decision making, as he would always go for extra flair and tricks that felt unnecessary at times.
