Excellent video ...one of the best reviews l couldn't get hold of an Artik R so have been flying the Photon as an interim wing. I'd love to be able to compare. Good as the Photon is performance wise, it's not that agile and thermaling it is just OK. I like Niviuk wings, had the P3 and 4 ... loved them. Also all the Mantra range so l have experienced the characteristics of both brands. I do crossing braking on the Photon, as l did with the Mantra's ... just to tighten the turn. Still ... much as l like the Photon l do need to try and get hold of a Artik R - or do a swop😊

I have flown many other brands over the years but this Glider is bloody lovely, it bites thermals so nice and there is no rolling out, it stays put and does not take a mile to turn like some gliders these days do.
On bar she is a cracker, your more than welcome to fly mine anytime you like, as soon as we can we will get up to the lakes so I could keep you posted, or come to me here.

Another wonderful video and always enjoy going along with your on your flights. I can really relate as I just received a new wing this week (Advance EPSILON DLS). First flight was ridge soaring yesterday. It really is like opening presents on Christmas day! Cheers from San Diego, California.

I would really appreciate it if you could make an explanatory video on the actual expression of the C type wing regarding beginners.
What will happen or can happen to a beginner with a wing of this type, etc.
And if there are examples, that would be great.

Edit: You need to be on A wings for at least a couple of years? Maybe a couple years in both A and B class.
But if you are actually comfortable with doing doing long XC flights or you are already doing competitions with task flying.
Then its just a matter of have you done SIV before? ... Yes? You can buy this wing.
At this level you should already understand your skill level and if you are ready for it. Its not fun and games anymore.
All the things you enjoy in either XC or competitions will hone your skills in 4 years to a higher degree then most 6 year pilots who like the local hill soaring.
Yes A & B couple of years and yes SIV is a good call buddy.
Being an owner of a Niviuk hook 6 Im totally impressed with their products, Id love to be experienced enough to upgrade to the Artik. maybe next year. Ive seen a few up till now and it looks an amazing wing. Great video Mark and I just want to know if youd be up for a day visit Id love to get some instruction from you Im about 20 hours out of CP

For Mountain flying i use a Swing Nyos RS which behaves very nice for a High B wing. At the dunes in Holland i fly a Niviuk Peak 3, Which feels pretty docile for a D wing actually, I really love it. I even use bar when i'm soaring and it is really fast, Which helps a lot to stay in front of the dunes in higher winds. But i can also turn it on a dime if i want to. I wouldn't dare to fly it in thermals tho. Totally not ready for a D wing in those kind of conditions. This one looks really awesome too👌 Niviuk makes some great quality stuff🤩

@@leavesleyaviation Yeah, It's awesome right? It has these backriser steering handles too. I fly a lot on back risers while soaring too to keep the speed up. And with no effort i can do wingovers and stuff. And even in pretty light wind or crosswind on the dunes it still flies great🤗

I love my Alpina 4 - I really love the handling. It's a do everything wing - I'm probably split about 40/60 at the moment, 40% XC and 60% messing about on local sites. Next wing for me will likely be either the Artik R or the Photon but I don't want to give up too much handling so would be good to hear more about how it compares to the Alpina 4 for handling in the air - different things for different people but I like to play with the wing and get it moving around - how well does the Artik R do that?
Well I loved my alpine 4 a lot, just 2 slight things but nothing much, big ears were a bit awkward but I am being picky, and kiting was very good but now I have used the Artik R I find it a bit better. I have not chucked the R around yet as like you I do like Wagga so next time I am out I will give it some welly and let you know.
The glide and speed seems very good so far but as I said they are all pretty good these days, it's down to slight feel things that swing me one way.

Great review thanks. Could you do a video/ discussion on how it behaves with collapses/SIV and rough air etc, with reference to a three liner? Also how long are the profile rods? It looks like it packs very compactly. So far your review makes me want to go and have a chat with the bank manager!
Next flight I will pull some collapses and see how she reacts chris, I will measure the rods also.
I'd presume you will not manage to pull collapses 😂 it's a 2 liner. So unless you install a folding line for that purpose you'll be pulling down the A's in vain.. but go try 👍
