Most of the examples shown in the Christchurch tour are Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs) which have equal capacity in tension and compression and do not need to be orientated as "cross bracing" as she described. In the one of the examples she showed bracing going in opposite directions on two different floors which would not work with other types of braces and is not an example of "cross bracing" (if it was, one story would have no capacity hile the other story would have a lot of capacity and would be a collapse potential). This is a dead give away that these aren't the types of braces that were demonstrated with the cables in the model at the start of the video.

well that's a different style of "Tour of Christchurch" :)

Cool. Liking those Warren and Mahoney building examples 😊. Moment frames next?

Will seismic dampers be covered here too? The Tectonus systems look interesting. A kiwi idea... I think.

is this a new thing. Did it come from offshore platforms?

Does cross bracing make it "stronger" or just increase the resonant frequency?

    Thats better

The problem is they put cross bracing on the outside and looks so ugly and wastes space.
