      Your best bet is to use a solid wire like brass or copper or sterling silver or goldfill so you don't deal with plating flaking off and a different color wire showing. Try this: www.jtv.com/product/artistic-wire-in-brass-and-crimp-connectors-in-antq-brass-tone-kit-includes-12-14-16-gauge-wire/JSKIT0624?mcid=XSOjsyt

      Hi Miriam! Beadalon makes a great bead reamer with an interchangeable tip. Then you can buy a wire rounding tip and change it out. Basically, you'll have two tools in one. • @JewelSchool
      @JewelSchool  Před 2 lety

      Hi Terri! Unfortunately the 1-step looper will only loop wire from 18ga to 24ga. Susan uses 16ga in this particular project.Plus, you'll need to make a loop that is slightly bigger than what the 1-step looper or the big step looper can make, which is 1.5mm and 3mm, respectively. Susan is using the larger side of the acculoop plier, which at the smallest is about 5mm. Knocking is more effective if done on a non vibrating surface. Even when you knock to make your bangle round n nice on the mandrel, a rubber surface on the hammer or mandrel would be gentle on the metal n might be more effective . Try it🙂

      Good question! Any size nuggets that fit on your wire will be fine! For the mandrel, if you don't have one, you can improvise with items around the home with items like rolling pins and soup cans. Not quite as precise but it will work in a pinch!

      @JewelSchool  Před 2 lety

      Hi! Gold filled wire is a great option for someone who wants precious gold jewelry without the cost of solid gold. You run the risk of marring the plating when you hammer it, so just use your best judgement. You may want to hammer a small part of the wire as a test before making an entire project.

    Beautiful. What is the type of metal did you use? It looks close to a gold.

      Hi Jacqueline, what a beautiful name you have! Most of the yellow wire used in our videos will be a gold tone or gold over sterling silver wire. This is just way more cost effective for you. You can get gold wire, but it will cost a lot more. We hope this answers your question and thanks for watching!

      @@JewelSchool I'm sorry, you say gold tone. What metal is that. Brass or just SS with gold fill. Did you know that some jeweler's are using 9kt gold.. It is way cheaper, but I wonder what alloys that is mixed with? Any ideas? I wonder what's next, 5 kt ?... 😁
